This Animal Hospital is corrupt. My cat was recently diagnosed with Kidney issues and has to take fluids every other day. I initially got the medicine from them but I needed to get a new bag of fluids and decided to look around for a better deal. This place charges about $40 for a bag of 1000ml but I found them online at Drs Foster and Smith Pharmacy for about $30. The best part is that is a 3 pack for a total of 3000ml. No one in their right mind will get them from Towne North Animal Hospital. At this time I called Towne North to let them know that I need to pick up a bag and a written prescription for it. The receptionist indicated that she would put in the request for both and call me back when its complete. 5 hours later they called me to let me know the bag of fluids was ready for pickup but they didnt mention anything about the written prescription. At this point I made sure I brought it up, the receptionist first said that my doctor wasnt in and that was the reason why they couldnt write. I then asked if I can go the next day when she is there to get to it but then she said they woulndt write it because they want to make sure my cat gets the correct amount. I argued this with the reception for a little bit but then talked to the other doctor at the hospital and she reinforced same thing the receptionist indicated. Their justification was that they wanted to ensure my cat got the right amount which didnt make any sense because I am the one that administers the fluids, no new blood work was going to be completed to determine his creatinine levels, nor was he going to be seen by a vet every two weeks just to get a new bag. The doctor then decided to question why I needed the prescription since I still had to go to a vet and get the fluids but I quickly told her that I was going to order it online for a much better and reasonable price. From the beginning of this call I new the real reason why they didnt want to comply with my request but of course they arent up front with the real reason and want to take as much money as they can from me. I DO NOT TRUST this hospital and WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. McIlhany & his staff are all friendly, caring and really take the time to make sure your pet is well. I have a 5 month old Great Dane who was starting to loose her fur on her back legs. Before I started coming to Towne North, I was seeing this other Vet who seemed to not really care about my girl and left me with more questions then answers. I was doing everything in my power to help my poor girl (we thought it could be diet, fleas, lack of Omega-3) so my husband & I changed her food, gave her fish oil, kept her on strict flea prevention, oatmeal baths, but nothing seemed to help! So, I found Towne North and explained to them our problems and all of our efforts. We were so desperate for help we were even willing to travel to Austin to see a pet Dermatologists. Thankfully, the staff at Towne North advised us to come in and see Dr. McIlhany and explain our story and I am so happy that we brought Luna in to see him. Dr. Mc went above and beyond to help our girl get better, with constant checking in with emails, phone calls and visits with him to monitor her progress. Him & his staff truly care about the well being of your pet. I would highly recommend anyone to come here. Thank you Dr. McIlhany!

At first when I pulled into the parking lot I thought, "Oh no!" Its in a strip mall and from the outside doesnt look very big or flashy. The moment I walked in the front door though all my hesitancy went away. Right at the front door was a marquee welcoming my dog to his first visit! The staff were extremely friendly and very complimentary of my dog. I mean, who doesnt like their dog oooh and ahhhed over? The wait time wasnt overly long. The doctor was very thorough and answered all my questions without seeming like she had to hurry and get to her next patient. Check out was a snap and for once I didnt pay an arm and a leg. Later that day the doctor emailed me a nutrition plan for my dog based on the food that I already feed him rather than trying to sway me to buy their food. Overall I am extremely pleased with Towne North Animal Hospital and have already scheduled my dog to be groomed this week!!!

Dr. McIlhaney and his staff are absolutely wonderful!! I have brought my pets here for several years and they have provided exceptional support and care for them each and every time. They have also been compassionate, empathetic and kind in the face of great health challenges and during the recent loss of my dog. They readily acknowledge that pets are a part of our families and they demonstrate that through the care and treatment of their patients. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. McIlhaney!! He is truly a wonderful person who is invested in his patients and their families. I am so thankful to have such an outstanding veterinarian!

The veterinarians are very knowledgable, caring, and thorough when examining our dogs. They take time to thoroughly explain health situations and the different options available to treat them. The staff is very helpful to pet owners needs, gentle handling the animals, and timely when arranging/servicing appointments. Unlike several other vet clinics, they are very transparent about the costs of different treatments, and they are not pushy to sell products available in the clinic. The clinic hours are very convenient for those who cannot schedule vet appointments during weekdays. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

We considered taking our cats here, and then I found out they routinely declaw cats. No, I am not going to take my cat to a vet who cares more about making money (from expensive procedures that actually harm the animal) than the welfare of the animal. I quizzed our new vet by asking about declawing. He curtly replied that he doesnt declaw, if we wanted to declaw we should find a different vet. Thats a vet I know cares about my pets, and thats where my pets deserve to go.

Love this vet office! Came to them today because the vet I previously used was not able to get me in and my pup needed to see a vet asap. They got me in last minute and the staff is great from front office to back they are very friendly and give you the feeling that they truly care about the well being of your fur baby and not like your just a number I will definitely be using them as my vet from now on thank you for the exceptional care and kindness town north!

Since moving to San Antonio over 5 years ago, we have taken our beloved dog, Rusty to one place for his health care - Towne North Animal Hospital. Dr. Mac, Dr. Beggs, Dr. Lewis and the great staff make us feel welcome, even if Rusty doesnt want to be there! :-) They provide great care and we will continue to take our boy to Towne North.
