OH goodness where do I start? I pull up to this beautiful building. Once inside I am greeted very nicely by the receptionist. When I went to take a tour of this facility the young lady just stood their with this look of confusion on her face, like she had no idea what she was doing there. when we got to the back she was very rude when I would ask simple questions and even rolled her eyes, the back was a complete mess on top of all of that, floors where a disgusting mess, food was all over the ground, some of the dogs had empty water bowls, and one of the dogs had a bunch of crap and pee in their kennel, the kennels looked like they havent been cleaned in awhile, the dirt was just packed onto the rails. where was all the staff at? every single one of the girls were outside laughing having a good ol time at Doggie Day Care but 2 of them were on their phone and none of them were giving the slightest attention to the dogs. once I saw everything I needed to see I walked back up front by myself. the young lady, I believe her name was Sabrina didnt even bother to walk me back up front just carried on her way outside with doggie day care despite the little bit of water the dogs had and the messy cage. once I got back upfront the ladies were very sweet again, when I got outside to leave I was walking to my car that was by the doggie day care yards, when I heard a bunch of yelling and cussing when I looked over the same girl who gave me the tour was screaming at a dog and then hit it!! WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIS!!!!! I wouldnt trust to keep any animal here! After multiple calls to talk to the manager about these problems and being placed on hold and never being returned to or being told that she is "to busy" to talk to me about these problems.. they have completely lost all of my business.

I travel a lot and my dogs go with me. So when my small dog started limping I looked up vets near where I was staying and found this place had such high reviews so I called them. They saw us same day and figured hed probably just popped his knee cap out and prescribed him some medicine. It worked great. They took the simplest approach first instead of racking up my bill. It worked so well that and was reasonably priced I called them back to see if I could get the same thing for my old dog who has trouble getting around. Again they saw us same day and did a reasonably priced blood panel because of her age. Unfortunately the results came back heart breaking for her liver.I have a copy of lab results. They put her on a few things and well just go from there. They asked about specific symptoms and she had them. I found this place to be very kind from the staff up front to the back. I found them to be knowledgeable. I had taken my elderly dog to our hometown vet 2 months ago concerned about the symptoms they asked she had. I was told my dog was just old but otherwise healthy. Not too impressed with my hometown vet clinic now but I highly recommend this place. So if your traveling through and your fur baby needs a vet this is the place to take them. They also called a couple days later to check on my fur baby. No vet has ever done that.

If I didnt have to give a star, they wouldnt be receiving one. My sister lost her basset hound "Hunnie" on 9/16/17. She is the one lots of you have probably see on the news, as it happened below Canyon Dam at the Guadalupe River Trail. Hun started seizing about 20 min after being in the water and immediately went unconscious, my sister and her friend took turns running with her in their arms back up the trail to their vehicles. My sister remembered that this clinic was right down the road and pulled in. She was hysterical, screaming and begging for help. The kind people here turned her down repeatedly. Hunnie died 2 exits away from the New Braunfels pet hospital, because my sister had to leave here and drive to New Braunfels. How can you call yourselfs a "pet hospital" and proceed to turn someone down just because its a few minutes after closing? Hun was in respiratory failure, and simple oxygen might have saved her. Heaven forbid you arrive home 10 min late because you tried to save a dogs life. Sorry sorry excuse of a pet hospital. If you are in a hurry, bypass this clinic. Better yet, bypass it no matter what.

I can not say enough about Canyon City Animal, I have had dogs for over 50 years and have used other vets, the vets and staff at Canyon City animal are wonderful, I have had nothing but wonderful care for my two little babies and they take care of all their needs, Priscella was so sick and Dr. Leakey met me up at the clinic on Sunday and had to inset an IV because she was dehydrated. Another time my Spike had back issues and received lazar therapy which really helped him, I have been going there for several years. I use both clinics and they have access to their records. They are wonderful about sending out reminders when one of my babies have something due, from check ups to worm checks. The care they give is way above what I had experienced any where else. I also use their grooming services and am always happy with the results! I could go on and on about he excellent care that we have received. I do recommend them to everyone I know that has fur babies!

EDIT: I brought my guinea pig in a week or so ago, and he hasnt recovered since... Finally brought him to a small animal specialist today in Austin, and found out that the steroids he was given at CCAH are dangerous for guinea pigs. Now were having to pay a huge sum of money for surgery, and I dont even know if hes going to survive because of the steroids. Originally, I left a very nice review for CCAH because the staff was very nice and helpful (and that is the ONLY reason why Im giving it two stars), but this is evidently not a place for small animals... UPDATE: I spoke with Dr. Leaky, and he was kind enough to refund me AND pay for my other vet bills (which is nothing to sneeze at for me, as a grad student; I would have really struggled to cover those costs on my own). I really appreciate how understanding and gracious he was about the matter when I brought it up with him, so for that Im bumping up my review to 4 stars. :)

This is the second time Ive boarded my dog with the same issue. It may be my fault, but I have issues that the software tracking the boarding doesnt update with the boarding ending before my original reservation. I picked up the dog a day early. I saw it the higher cost I gave before I drove home which is a solid 10 miles one way. The staff fixed it, apologized for the mix up, but I beg the question. Why isnt there something in the software that says the pet only stayed 2 nights as opposed to 3 nights. It shouldnt be that difficult to change it up. I gave the clinic 4 stars for billing system and only for that reason. The staff works hard to work with the human mommy and daddies. I couldnt do their job. Dr. Leakey is spectacular! We, as humans beg for his bedside manner in our own Dr.s and never get the same satisfaction. 5 stars if they fix the software!
