Deceptive business practices. We paid the co-pay required but Monarch Dental (American Fork) refuses to refund the amount in excess of what our ExBen says we needed to pay. Monarchs office manager told us they couldnt put the amount back on our Flex Reimb Card because they were still waiting for the insurance to pay their share. Weeks later they admitted that they dont even submit the extra charge to insurance because they know it isnt allowed. Insurance told us all the allowed amounts are included in the procedure codes and that Monarch isnt allowed under their contract as an "In Network" provider to charge us other amounts that they dont submit to our dental insurance plan. It has been months and Monarch even refuses to refund the amount they show as a "credit" on our account. Much as we like the dentist, Monarch was a bad experience because we had to wait weeks longer at every step. They didnt have the abutment, used a supplier that took weeks, used a lab that took another 3 weeks+ for the crown, postponed the appointment another week. Then the extra charge that we were falsely told was covered by our insurance. And now Monarchs continued refusal to refund the over-charge is leading to notice from our Flexible Reimbursement Account manager that they are suspending access to the monies we use for prescription meds, healthcare appointment co-pays and our share of other prescribed medical products and equipment. Monarch also doesnt send statements. We have to go there and then they just print an account summary which has the descriptions truncated making it hard to even know what the charges are.

If I had the option to give you 0 stars I would. My husband went in back in July of 2016 for a severe toothache. They treated the pain and then charged our insurance for a root canal that never happened. In January of 2017 we went to Monarch who referred us to Dr. Pulsipher, an amazing endodontist, for two root canals. When we received the bill from the endodontist our insurance refused to pay for the root canal that Monarch had charged us for that again the dentist NEVER did. When we sent in the X-rays taken at Dr. Pulsiphers office, that proved my husband never received a root canal, and after Monarch fought us tooth and nail before they admitted they never preformed the root canal, they finally changed the coding to my insurance and resubmitted the claim. BUT THEY NEVER SENT THE MONEY BACK MY INSURANCE PAID THEM FOR THE ROOT CANAL THAT NEVER HAPPENED. Now, almost a year later and after three notices from my insurance for a refund, Monarch has blatantly ignored, I have an $800 from Dr. Pulsipher I now have to pay and my insurance refuses to cover. Not only that, my insurance caps out at $1,000 per year and they are showing an overage so I now have to pay out of pocket until the over pay is recouped by my insurance. I believe this situation is referred to as insurance fraud when you bill someone for a service you dont provide. I will be taking this up personally with you in your office come tomorrow, and I will be getting that refund. This is absolutely unethical and unacceptable.

Plain crappy work! They hired a dentist who didnt know what he was doing and ruined 2 of my teeth. While doing a shallow filling, he drilled too deep leaving me to have to get a root canal and crown on one and the other is filled up with so much cement that my tooth is now clear. They fired him and now Ive been having issues with the hygienist. They do not allow you to refuse any treatment or they refuse to work with you. My dental insurance covers a basic cleaning yet they told me I need a deep cleaning due to periodontal disease around a crown of mine. Well a crown may irritate the gums your whole life and may not truely represent gum disease. They want $80 every time I go for a basic cleaning on top of what insurance gives them and they wont allow me to sign a refusal waiver for this treatment because of Monarch policy. All other offices allow you to control YOUR plan of care, but not at Monarch. Insurance fraud? Talked to 2 other (non-monarch) dental offices within a short distance from them and they state that they would not recommend anyone to go to them. They also stated they get "many" of their patients coming from Monarch dental looking for them to repair what Monarch messed up. I was skeptical at first, but I will never go back and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

This is what I said to someone who asked why monarch dental is no good. This was my response; Yeah. They are just very rude and neglectful to their patients. Its been Almost 2 weeks from today since I got my wisdom teeth out by Dr. Steele and I am still in an extreme amount of pain. I have had 2 dry sockets, one on each side. As I am dying in pain I go back in for a check up and they give me more pain pills and a antibiotics tell me Im fine and to go home. come to find out the next day I had a dry socket which are EXTREMELY painful that happened twice where they had sent me home. Then it was after hours, I was dying from pain. I called the ON CALL "dr" for him just to tell me to come back during Normal business hours. They have just been neglectful rude idiots in my opinion. They dont know how to treat people nor do they know what theyre doing. Not to mention, I tried to ask to get a hold of Dr. Steele since he was the one who had initially did the extraction. When I asked for his number they gave me a customer service call center. Its just been plain awful needless to say.

Unimpressed. The girl dentist didnt even say "hi" or introduce herself when she came in the room. I didnt even know she was the dentist. I thought she was a lab tec or something. I mentioned a trouble spot to the hygienist and thats all this girl inspected with her hook thing. She didnt even bother with my other teeth. And when i was done, she didnt even SAY that I didnt have any cavities! Maybe it was her first day or something, but she seemed nervous and introverted. Also, they have sent us no less than 20 bills saying we have a zero balance. We have called them and asked they stop but we are still getting bills, every member of my family, including my small children. AND, when they gave us a reminder call, they only said that I had an opt. My 2 kids missed theirs because they didnt mention their opt. in either of the calls they gave. Im really considering going somewhere else.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!!! I must say how pleased I am with how my girls were handled. From beginning to end all the girls in the office were so sweet and nice. Very loving towards my girls and the dentist & hygienist were amazing, they saw how important it was for my daughter to be able to smile again (had a cavity in her front tooth) and made that happen for her. I cant thank the staff at American Fork, Monarch enough, just wonderful great ladies. They went so much farther then the extra mile to help me figure out insurance and take care of everything. My kids were very spoiled on their trip to the dentist and everyone came out smiling. Thank you again ladies. I will never go anywhere else! They were wonderful with my kiddos!
