Dr Meyers has been seeing my 8 year old daughter for a serious, painful, and unique condition on her scalp. I have been consistently treated like an overbearing parent, for asking questions and making requests. Almost nothing was explained to me about their suspicions concerning diagnosis of her condition. I was treated like a know-nothing when I made assertions about what it might be. Literally every test taken, and all information I can find online are consistent with my original assertions about what her problem might be. Seemingly, because I thought of it first, and he has already said without testing it that it couldnt be that, he is utterly unwilling to consider the possibility that I might be right in my assertion of diagnosis. To the point that he is unwilling to perform the tests necessary to confirm and diagnose her condition. Tests that would be relatively easy and inexpensive to perform. The attitude seems to be, "Shes just some mom. She couldnt possibly know whats going on with her own child! I am the all-knowing doctor, and therefore should never be questioned or told how to do my job." He would rather call her condition, "Benign recurring pustules," than do the simple tests that would prove my assertion of, "Generalized pustular psoriasis," wrong. He actually said the words, "It seems to me that youre very jaded, and more intent on your own personal experience, than in getting your daughter the treatment she needs." Seriously. Which is kind of insane, considering that at this moment, he is telling me there is no treatment he can give for "benign recurring pustules." ...Do you mean OTHER THAN the tests you could do to rule out psoriasis?! Nice. In addition, his PA wrote a prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic, without getting an accurate weight for my 8 year old. He said there was no scale in the office, looked her up and down, and said, "Well say 40 lbs. That looks about right." And proceeded to write the prescription. No joke. I am left without any other option than to pay the hefty stack of bills I now have from his office, which yielded zero explanation on my daughters condition; and then go and find someone whos patients well being is more important than his pride. Someone who is willing to do exhaustive testing and searching, even at the expense of perhaps having to admit he could be wrong, to find out exactly what is going on with his patient. Needless to say, I do not recommend Utah Valley Dermatology for your needs. Especially if you have an opinion about your childs healthcare, or want to have a say in treatments that are given. Update added on May 8, 2014 (Originally gave a one star rating.) : Surprising, and not in a bad way! I got a call from Dr. Meyers himself, today. We had a very honest conversation, in which I was able to voice my concerns, and he listened and was very understanding. He apologized completely for any bad feelings he has caused, reassured me that he is coming from a place of wanting to help my daughter, and assured me that he is willing to do whatever is necessary to diagnose her. It was a very civil and respectful conversation, and I feel like all of our concerns were put to rest. He may have restored my faith in doctors! Im very impressed with his character. Also, extremely excited that I dont have to start over with a different doctor. Turns out that Utah Valley Dermatology is fully willing to correct any mistakes that were made, and absolutely capable of communicating to correct problems!

I was frustrated I did not have the same good experience as the person who recommended him to me to treat my skin spots. My experiences with office staff when I called before and after sounded unprofessional and rude. I am a person who would like to know the (possible) charges first so I could be ready. I was told that I might be charged $110. I agreed. On my first visit, Dr Meyer told me that a few weeks after freezing the spots on my face area, the spots would turn to blisters, would dry up and then the scabs would fell off. He even recommended that I buy a product from his clinic to give me more skin protection, which I did. After a month or so, I called his office again to question why the dark spots were still there. There was no blister turning to scab that I fairly noticed. This time, I got to talk to a nice lady, who was also surprised to hear my experience. She did not know what to say and asked if I wanted to direct the question to Dr. Meyer instead. Well, little did I know that asking Dr. Meyer, in short, complaining, why the spots were still there, would have him charged me for a Doctors visit. These are some of the things I got which confused me, too. a. He told me that I should have not applied the product (I bought from his clinic) to the ‘spots’. (Well, he told me not to put a lot and not as frequent. But he did not say to avoid applying on the ‘spots’.) b. He told me that ‘the spots are still healing’. (I went to his office in February; it is now the month of May, and my spots are still so visible. I do not see any healings at all.) Later, I received another bill from his clinic, this time including my second visit bill. I called the billing department, wherein my call was received by a rude office worker. She insisted that the bill was because I ‘saw’ Dr. Meyer, that anytime I would see a doctor, I should be charged. I tried to explain to her that when I tried to see Dr. Meyer, it was to complain and question. Nothing was administered to me. But this lady just kept replying in an argumentative manner. Finally, when she probably noticed that it was passed 5 pm, she lowered down the tone of her voice and just tried to sympathize with me. When I asked her if there was anything she could do, she offered to bring the matter to her manager and see if the bill for the supposedly second visit could be reduced to half of the cost. However, she said, it would take 48 hours before she could hear from her boss. It is over a week since she said that, but I have not heard back from her. This is not just about money, this is about integrity. I still do not feel justly billed for questioning a procedure that I paid for. If someone will ask me, not that my opinion matters, I will not make another visit here nor recommend it to someone.

Dr. Meyers is amazing! Ive been a patient of his for a few years now and initially went to him for some (fairly minor) acne. He was so kind and knowledgeable that I immediately felt at ease with him. So much so, I trusted him to remove a mole, right underneath one of my eyebrows, that I had never felt comfortable enough to let any other dermatologist (or plastic surgeon, for that matter) perform the procedure. It went perfectly. It healed without a scar and I became Dr. Myers #1 fan. Since then, Ive continued to go to him for electrodessication of some sebaceous hyperplasia glands (if youre not familiar with this process, consider yourself lucky and treassure your non-deformed oil glands) but it wasnt until a few months ago that I brought up some cosmetic concerns that I was having. Dr. Myers very patiently listened to my concerns and started outlining exactly what he could do to remedy every concern I was having. One of my concerns was a frown line between my eyebrows, which led me into the appearance of my left eyebrow being a little bit "sadder" than my right, due to a bout of Bells Palzy a few years ago. He suggested a Botox brow-lift and showed me what he could do. He then commented on my left cheekbone (or lack thereof, due to a motor cycle accident 15 years ago that broke said cheekbone) and suggested Voluma to return its symmetry to my right cheekbone. Lastly, I brought up my lips and my lackluster lip-injections from a prominent plastic surgeon. Again, he outlined exactly what he could do and suggested Juvederm, instead of the Restylane that I had, had injected only three months before (my body absorbed it VERY quickly). Fully trusting Dr. Myers, I went ahead with everything he suggested and let me tell you, I couldnt be happier with the results. Its now been two months since my Botox "brow-lift" and three weeks since my cheekbone and lip injections and my results are so natural that I still look like me, just a better, less asymmetric version of me. :) Filming training videos is a part of my job so I have actual recorded proof of just how much of a difference it makes to have Dr. Myers on your side. I know this review is crazy long but I genuinely cannot say enough about how great of a doctor, Dr. Myers is. I will continue to be his #1 fan throughout his entire practice.
