I found a puppy, a boston terrier. I wanted to try and find the owner. I called Brookside, and the receptionist said they would scan her for a chip, and if there wasnt one, I could take her home and continue to look for the owner. I had already joined a bunch of lost and found sites, checked with the pound etc. When I got there they scanned her and she had no chip. Then an over zealous and rude nurse/receptionist came out and told me she was calling animal services to see if there were any reports of a missing boston. She comes out of the back room, tells me that they had found the owner and would be keeping her until the owner could come. That was a blatant lie. I got home a couple hours later, and saw the pup on a facebook site saying she was found and looking for owners. I told them when I was there that I was hesitant on posting a picture on facebook because anyone could claim her, especially without a chip. I called back and the same nurse lied again and told me that animal control had posted the picture. Animal Control had not seen the dog or had any reports of one missing. Turns out this lady also runs a rescue. Meaning she sells puppies. Like thousand dollar unchipped Boston Terriers. I highly recommend finding another place to do business. Oh, they are also overpriced generally. Its how they afforded a nice new building. I have other local recommendations if you need one. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LIARS.

Weve been going to Brookside for ages and are so grateful for the good care our dogs have had over the years. The staff really do work as a team with us in being able to do the best we can throughout our dogs lives. They have seen us through accidents, cancer, birth, athletic prime, old age and death for many generations of dogs. I love that they will work to tailor treatment plans as well, they generally will suggest several approaches to tackling a problem and help you decide what is best. In situations where things really get hairy, they have given solid referrals to specialists as needed. Since we travel a lot, they have been great to coordinate and work with other clinics when our dogs have needed care when out of town. They are reliable and skilled surgeons as well and so if I need routine work such as dental or spays, I have complete confidence in them and on those unfortunate occasions that weve had more complicated surgeries, their skill has amazed me. The dogs do recover so much better when in skilled hands. I owe them a great debt of gratitude for their care over so many years.

I have only had great experiences with the Vets and Techs there. They are friendly, informative and seem to care. The front office staff however, that is another story. First of all, lets talk about getting someone to answer the phone during office hours. That is the first challenge. Second, They have 2 desk agents usually, although I am sure they know how to do their job, they are in need of some Customer Service training. My interactions with them are rushed and they seem very irritated that I am there. I also got to see why it is very hard to get through on the phone since the phone just rings and rings. With proper training, the calls would be answered and put on hold. As you can see, I gave a 5 star rating though and this is mainly due to the interaction I have had with Dr. Henderson. I believe they have a competent staff that with some training can become both competent and customer service oriented. I will continue to use this office.

Please heed my warning, "DO NOT LET YOUR VETERINARIAN GIVE YOUR PET A COMPOUNDED FORMULA" The Veterinarian at Brookside had a Compounded Formula made for my 20 Month old 4 lb Toy Poodle (she had started throwing up her Heart Worm Medicine for 3 months in a row) The Compounded Formula caused my Toy Poodle to go into Ivermectin Toxicity and she went Blind in 3 hours, then into Spasms and she was unable to standup. She was unable to recover from the horrible reaction she had and we had to have her put to sleep. There are Alternatives, YOU Do not have to give Heart Worm Medicine. Please go to the internet and type in Truth4dogs you will be amazed at what you find about all the shots and medicines given to your pets, some are not even necessary. I will never give my new dogs Heart Worm medicine again, nor will I ever use a compounded formula!!!

REALLY DEPENDS ON WHO YOU GET...But, Dr. Penrod is amazing and the only person we will let touch our dogs. She is straight to the point and very good with finicky breeds. We have two siberian huskies that need special anesthesia and she is still very affordable. HOWEVER, If you get a 57" older balding gentleman, turn around and WALK OUT. He is TERRIBLE. He stuck our three month old puppy in the parvo holding room without even asking if he had been vaccinated and didnt even tell us that it WAS the parvo holding room, we found out from the vet tech as we were leaving! The person that we got the puppies from had a similar experience with him, he injected their dog with a pain killer to do a procedure on her dew claw and DID NOT WAIT FOR THE PAINKILLER TO KICK IN BEFORE HE OPERATED. It actually kicked in after they got home!

Dr. Penrod has always been amazing with my boxer. She detected a heart murmur when he was a puppy and has been amazing with him since. He did outgrow the murmur but she while we were waiting it out she welcomed us to come whenever we wanted to check up on his health. She also neutered and mircrochipped him and has taken care of all his regular needs. I have seen a couple other vets in the office when I need a fast appointment and they have all been excellent. My dog had a bad stomach bug and they took him first thing in the morning to check him out, hes had eye allergies, and an ear infection that were all taken care of wonderfully. I have always been impressed! I have had pets in other areas seen by other vets and Brookside rates high on my list.

The doctor was great. Friendly and listened to all my concerns. She seemed to like my dog and that goes along way with me. She gave me good advice and took her time and I didnt feel like I was in a production line. The office us spacious and clean. Not a fan of the corner seating in the exam room. I felt like I was sitting on a ledge and no room for my small dog, who likes to sit with me when stressed. Person checking me in didnt seem to be happy to see us and did not give any guidance after taking my name (have a seat, follow me, well be with you in a minute). Check out was friendly, although the helped people coming in first. This seems like a good Veterinarian office that maybe just needs to work a little on the front end staff!

Rainey Penrod has taken care of all of our pets and has been outstanding in the care and knowledge of our animals. There seems to be alot of issues that people want to blame someone for and it ends up being the person that is trying to take care of your little family member. We have been to alot of other vets before choosing Brookside and they all have their issues but when your down and stressed because your little one is on the brink of life and death, you tend to blame the last person that had anything to do with them. Like most of the customers that have left reviews, we will continue to go to Brookside because Rainey CARES!! Thanks, Curtis & Cindy Hunt
