I saw the three glowing reviews for this hospital, and chose it because I wanted the best for my very beloved cat. Over email they were exceptionally helpful and polite, I was impressed and had high expectations for the service when I arrived. Once I arrived, I filled out the required paperwork, and was led to a room to wait with my cat. I was told the veterinarian would be a few minutes, and so I was prepared to wait. I was NOT prepared to wait the 20 minutes that passed before he even entered the room. But thats hardly the worst of what happened. I had brought my cat in for a yearly exam, as well as a FIV/FeLV test due to her prior exposure to a cat who was FIV-positive. I was extremely worried that she might test positive, because she means the world to me. They took her away to the back of the hospital, and I had to wait an agonizing half hour before they brought her back, looking much worse for wear. The veterinarian then told me that she had tested a "weak positive" for FeLV, Feline Leukemia. I was shocked and very upset to hear the news. I attempted to ask the veterinarian about special treatment I should look into, certain diets that might be beneficial to her health, or any change I should make in her care. He deflected my questions with a vague "Shes doing fine right now, so you shouldnt worry." I was then rushed out of the office (they were closing soon), without any of my questions or concerns being resolved. When I did my own research at a later time, I found that the in house test results are often sketchy, but for some reason the veterinarian didnt see fit to educate me about the option of sending the blood out to a lab for more accurate testing. I cant afford to have another blood test done at this time, but regardless of the results, the visit to the veterinarian is one that I regret spending the money on, because the service was very lacking. I am recommending that people I know do not go to this clinic, because I know how important our pets are to us, and I dont think the staff at this location does. Maybe youll get better service if your appointment isnt around closing time, but I certainly hope that people will think twice before visiting this clinic.

I started taking my pets here because I heard they were really good. They really passed the test when I came home one day to find that one of my dogs had gotten into a bottle of pills (flavored nicely for dog consumption). I didnt know which dog ate them! I called them and left this terribly long message, all along thinking "why am I doing this, no one is there, and no one will call me back." I was about to call the animal poison control center and pay the $60 that it would take for them to even tell me if this was a danger when someone called me back! He was very knowledgeable, told me that what was eaten is kind of borderline as it was a neutraceutical he told me that they would probably be fine, but if I wanted to bring them in he could take care of them by inducing vomiting or he could tell me how to do it myself. I asked him how and it seemed simple enough (1 T of hydrogen peroxide every 15 minutes until the dog pukes then give activated charcoal). I got both ingredients at my local rite aid. Though it was sad to make both my dogs puke, I saved lots of money from the vet and didnt have to freak them out by taking them in. They were both fine. My only problem with this place is their waiting room is VERY cramped and unwieldy. I find it hard to wait there with my dog who likes to bark at other dogs! The veterinarian (Dr. Lemmon) could also be a bit more specific when he is describing things. Other than that, they are great.

Ive been to most of the veterinary practices in Ogden with foster dogs and strays as well as my own dogs and cat. Ogden Animal Hospital is my primary vet. Dr. Mike has a good heart and is very compassionate and listens very carefully to any concerns, the gentleman that take calls and makes appointments is very knowledgeable and polite, and everyone else has been great. They seem to be a little more reasonably priced than some other vets. Both Dr. Steve and Mike wont order necessary tests or treatments. Theyre very upfront and honest about the effectiveness of treatments I was considering. Dr. Mike explains everything very thoroughly. They saved my sweet Heeler before I adopted her--She was a stray that was hit by a car. Animal Control brought her there and they treated her and boarded her until a foster could be found to nurse her back to health. They also saved another dog that someone brought in to be euthanized because of lacerations on his neck, which the owners said were caused by a dog attack but were obviously caused by leaving too small of a collar on a growing dog. They refused to euthanize the dog and asked the owners to surrender him so the vets could find him a good home.

My family, for many years, would bring our animals to this place. One trip in and your animal would be on the way back to great health, or at least have accurate answers to our questions. My dog, Tico (German Shepherd), sadly left us this year due to cancer. But we didnt know what was happening at first so it left us in a panic. Thanks to the Ogden Animal Hospital though, we were given accurate information and help for Tico. Up to the night Tico left us, he was playing, running, chasing his tennis ball, enjoying every ride in the car, and just overall was happy. It is sad he is gone, but out of all the ways that he could have left us, in his situation, he passed away in the best way possible I believe. At home, on his bed, surrounded by family, taking his last breath literally in my arms. As long as they keep up this kind of work, I will always return to the "Ogden Animal Hospital". They truly treat your pets like their own, like family. To the father and son, and other staff, Thank you very much for helping Tico.

UPDATE: 2nd dog has passed of cancer which was utterly heartbreaking but Dr Lemmon and his staff were so kind and helpful. I love my dog like my kid and didnt want him to suffer and they allowed me my time to say goodbye. I was never rushed and they truly were sad to see my fur baby go. I have never seen a vet so truly genuine and compassionate. The card and poem I received in the mail was hand-written and long; it was full of true sympathy and love. You will not find that anywhere else. This is the only place you should be taking your animals if you truly love them... I have had to take 2 dogs here; the first with cancer and he had to be put down and the second just maintenance care. EVERY time Dr Lemmon and his staff were so kind and so helpful. They are never short and always listen to your concerns even on the phone. I will not take my dog to anyone else and highly recommend this vet clinic.
