This review is hard for me to post, but just because of how much I respect the veterinary profession. They are truly heroes to devote themselves to healing and helping our little loved ones.. I understand the cost pressures in the industry, and for this reason I usually do not have a problem paying a vet whatever they request for their services... they need it, and they deserve it! (in most cases - not at AZ pet resort) However, the ARIZONA PET RESORT is an exception. Never have I experienced such a greedy, profit oriented veterinary clinic. I took my dogs here over a span of about 6 months for various issues, primarily to check my dogs health after she gave birth to a set of puppies, and then to have medicine prescribed and lab tests performed on one of the puppies. The puppy that had the tests was sick (ringworm) and the vet ran tests to verify this, prescribed medication, and instructed me on its use. He then explained that if it had not gone away by the time the medicine was done, that I should let him know and he would call in a refill. (Just like that too!-he made it sound so simple) Well, the medicine ran out after 6 weeks and the ringworm was still there; so I called him to tell him we would need a refill. After about 5 minutes of battling his office staff on the phone (they were just trying to get me in for a scheduled ($$$) appointment, and not listening to what I was saying). Finally, I was connected to the vet and he then began insisting on the necessity of bringing the puppy in again to be "checked out" and have more tests run... Firstly, he never mentioned this when we were first discussing treatment (that a secondary visit was required to refill prescribed meds, he said he would like to check the puppy after she had healed, to be sure the lesions had gone away entirely, but he never mentioned a follow-up visit would be necessary to refill meds) Secondly, he already ran the lab tests, the problem was in the SAME EXACT locations, nothing had changed except the lesions were a little smaller and the medicine had run out. Then he wants to charge $75+ so that he can call in a refill! Talk about a racket. This guy is a CROOK (Gnaidek=joke), and his office staff play the profit game along with him. Be WARNED, they will treat your animal, but they will charge you far more than is necessary to do so... Extra note- After telling this vet what a joke he was and that I was going to find another vet, I called a different veterinarian, explained everything (previous tests, treatments, etc), and then he simply told me over the phone to give some athletes foot medication a try on the affected areas.. and that should do the trick. He said if it did not go away after 4 weeks of treating the issue with the over the counter athletes foot medicine, then I should bring the pup in and he would prescribe some more potent medicine. Wait a second... WHAT!?! Advice for no money? Altruism? Maybe its just a vet who cares about the animals....

I took my Scottie to AZ Pet Resort for several years and then stopped when the groomer there quit. I had the need to take him to a vet as he had an ear infection and a spur stuck in his foot. It was also time for his rabies and two other shots. The vet visit went well. But that is where it ended. My daughter scheduled him for his grooming with the new groomer and was told she would get a $10.00 discount (as we had in the past) if we would try the new groomer. So an appointment was scheduled for Monday. I dropped Lucky off before work and was called at about 11:00 and told he was ready. I advised I would not pick him up till after work at 5:00pm. When I got to AZ Pet Resort to pick him up I was told the fee would be $50.00. When I asked why it had gone up $15.00 I was advised "because he was difficult". I did not believe that as Lucky loves to take baths and be groomed. I told the young girl at the front that and asked her to verify this. After telling me she could not reach the groomer because she had a second job she went to and she could not reach the owner. I told her then we had a problem because I would not pay the additional amount. She then called the owner and spoke to her. The owner advised her to call the groomer which she promptly did. The groomer stated the additional charge was because Lucky was bigger than last time he was there (9/2009). I said that was ridiculous. The Scottish Terrier (4 years old) did not grow in two years that much and why was I quoted a different price and then told a different reason for the price increase. I did eventually pay the $45.00 fee but felt ripped off. After the girl took my money and brought Lucky out I could not believe the shape he was in. His hair cut was awful and his nails were not even clipped. I was terribly disappointed. I will NEVER recommend AZ Pet Resort to annyone. In fact, while the vet it great do not trust your pet to the groomer. The next day the owner called me to tell me I still owed the $5.00, I laughed at her. Although I do not have an issue with the vet I will now not recommend the vet or the groomer. I feel AZ Pet Resort owes me the $10.00 they over charged me!!

I use Sun Devil Animal Hospital for both my veterinary and boarding needs and I could not say enough great things about this place!!!! This is the only vet I have ever been to that Ive felt the staff truly only wants what is best for both my dog Pilot and I. I trust the staff wholeheartedly and am never worried or fearful when I board Pilot here, as I know he will get all the love and attention he deserves and I expect to be given to him, on top of the quality care, grooming, and amazing play options for him to participate in. He is a relatively crazy, 110(ish) pound Doberman Pinscher so its rare that I truly believe people understand him and love him for who he is (people tend to see him and not want to come any closer/have minimal contact), but I KNOW these people understand him and love him!! This is an amazing place to go for boarding, veterinary care, or to let your dog play in their doggy day care while youre at work all day instead of leaving them alone at home!! Your dog will thank you for coming here, I promise!! Attached are 2 photos that the staff sent me when I had to board him during his 1 year birthday and I asked them to do a little something special for him :)

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. You will be EXTREMELY unsatisfied with both the staff and the facility. Every year, 2-3 times a year, I come across the need for boarding for my dog... I did some online research and came across Sun Devil Animal Hospital & Pet Resort. Initially they facility has decent reviews from Google+, Bing, etc.... However, DO NOT BE FOOLED. The facility itself I will give a 7/10, decently clean (minus some construction). The staff demonstrated extreme lack of professionalism & would not be trusted again for boarding needs. When I called to speak with the facility about final boarding charges & check how the overall stay went I had the EXTREME DISPLEASURE of speaking with Manager Dave Hocevar. Dave was EXTREMELY rude and aggressive towards me when having questions on boarding charges & my dogs health upon returning home. Dave proceeded argue any concern I had which eventually led to me BEING HUNG UP ON. This was an EXTREMELY bad experience Ive had at Sun Devil Animal Hospital & Pet Resort. I will never return to this facility & I would HIGHLY encourage you to look elsewhere for all your pets needs.
