Honestly I would give this place ZERO stars. I saw all the great reviews, made the appointment, very friendly woman at the front, nice inside facility but boy was I deceived. I got my 8 month old kitty spayed yesterday, when I went to pick her up she seemed to be okay. I had been instructed to start a medication called TUAL at 7pm, same day. My kitty had an allergic reaction to it an hour after I gave her the oral medication, now, I know all animals have their allergies BUT I ended up taking her to the EMERGENCY ANIMAL CLINIC because she had a small fever, her face was swelling up, these bright pink/red spots showed up on her face, and she was crying in pain. Got to the clinic, after they had injected her with steroids, fluids, etc and asked if I gave her any medications I was instructed to and sure enough, TUAL was guilty of nearly KILLING MY BABY!! The DOCTOR has never even heard of TUAL and was surprised I was given whatever TUAL is. Gave me only 2 pages of discharge instructions, NOT including the medication instructions/descriptions. VERY GENERAL discharge instructions. Long story short, save yourself from POSSIBLY HURTING YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER AND a $400 ER hospital bill ALONG SIDE WASTING $80+ on a spay/neuter clinic that prescribes medications that other doctors have NEVER heard of!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT stress this enough, for the sake of your precious family member(s) AVOID AZTEC ANIMAL HOSPITAL OF SCOTTSDALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to my general discharge instructions, I could bring her in for a free exam since I followed THEIR instructions and ended up in the animal ER but instead I set up an appointment elsewhere. Id rather not go to that careless place again!

My sister rushed our dog here because it was the closest vet to our house when our dog woke up in the morning not moving, but alert, we thought it could she be her arthritis because she’s ten years old. To our surprise it was some sort of infection where they told her she was going to need surgery and without the surgery she will not survive. I live in a different state, so when my sister called me with this news I was not happy. Then she continues to tell me that they were going to keep her overnight which would cost $800 and they’ll do the surgery in the morning for $1500, plus whatever they charge you just to be seen. What I don’t understand is if you’re in the business of saving lives why tell someone their dog is needed an immediate surgery, but tell them you’re not going to do it until the next day and charge what you can out of having them stay the night. Needless to say we could not afford this and rather let her suffer we decided to put her to sleep. I’m now reading other reviews about this hospital founding out that they are charging a ridiculous amount for the simplest things and had I done more research in this emergency we probably would’ve went to a different vet. I’m told they sedated her before giving her the shot and my sister was back home a little after 7:30, since they close at 6 I’m sure they were more than happy to head home at that time too. They are going to cremate her there which I’m told will cost around $400, whether or not that is a reasonable price I do not know, but after all this we just want her back home. Please make sure you are doing your research when you take your baby anywhere.

If I could rate a zero, I would. I came here for a simple check up on my dog and to check on his teeth because it looked like there was something stuck in his back gums. When I got there, the receptionist wasnt too friendly but everyone has their days . She didnt ask for my dogs medical history which I found weird. Figured that what they need to do didnt need anything that required his medical history. She took me back to the examination room and the vet came in and couldnt find the object in his gums. I had to point it out to them. Then they took my dog out of the room and I waited about ten minutes for them to come back in and tell me itd cost over 200. Surprised, I didnt argue because my dog is worth it. About five minutes pass and the receptionist comes back to tell me my dog would wake from the anesthetics after ten minutes. I hadnt given permission for them to use anesthesia but just wanted my dog in my arms. I waited for a half hour before they told me to come back in a couple hours because he wasnt waking up. I asked if they had my number to call me and they said they did. They never called so I came in again and two hours later. My dog was awake and they gave me vague instructions on how hed be after anesthesia. My dog still hasnt recovered fully because he has liver shunts. Had they known, they wouldnt have given him anesthesia because liver shunts mixed with anesthesia can be deadly. Im watching my dog closely now but please dont take your dogs or cats here if you want service where they care about your family member....

I regret bringing my dog here for her spay surgery, Ive been here before and took a tour and the lady was very nice at the time. So when I found out about the Maricopa SNAP program they sent me a voucher. So since Aztec Animal Hospital was listed and the reviews were great I decided to make the appointment here. So when I bring my pup for drop off I get the cold shoulder which shouldve been a sign for me but instead I went ahead with the surgery. Now I spent all day worried about my dog and I was the one who would call to make sure she was okay although they assured to call me when my dog was out of surgery. Now when I see her wound I didnt notice at first because she was so out of it and my main focus was her comfort. Days passed and I noticed a bump coming out of her wound, so then I notice that her nipples arent aligned then come to find out one is missing and the bump I saw in her wound was the missing nipple. Now I know she may only be a pup but to me shes a companion and apart of my family and there shouldve been more effort put into her surgery. Makes me wonder about what I "cant" see. I really feel that I failed to find her the best care and therefore my experience with this hospital was horrible. Who knows if they even gave her the rabies shot that was included in the voucher. They make me feel horrible for even trusting them.

Do not use this vet for any kind of health vaccinations, or pet travel documents. Very unprofessional culture at this practice. Originally scheduled a preliminary visit at 5:30pm to get the (somewhat rare coronavirus vaccine) and to ensure all vaccinations for travel have been made. The assistant did a quick check-up weight, temperature, reviewed shot records, etc. and made us wait approximately 45 minutes for the vet to come. He quickly inspected the dog and said all vaccines are current (no coronavirus shot needed), without even seeing the paperwork! After paying $55, we reviewed the report that was incorrectly filled out (missing sections, etc.) and had to call to ask for the coronavirus vaccine. The same assistant said she doesnt have the coronavirus vaccine and will have to call me back after checking with the doctor. There was no phone call and she couldnt even recall our visit the prior day! Going to a different vet to complete the shot and all travel due diligence items! Should ask for my money back, but dont have the time to deal with the clueless receptionist/assistant!
