I called Brookside when my dog stopped eating/drinking and started vomiting and having diarrhea. They said "oh, that sounds serious. Can you get here in 30 minutes? Ill set aside an appointment". Id never been there before, but it popped up on google and we needed to get my dog in ASAP. At first I was very impressed with their sense of urgency. When we got there, we waited for 2 hours to see anyone, and they charged us the "walk-in" fee even though I called and was told that I had an appointment. The front desk attendents were unkempt and rude. The lobby was unclean and extremely unwelcoming. The desk attendants chatted away and horsed around with one another while there were clients waiting to be helped. They did not seem to care that they had a lobby full of people and their sick best friends who needed their help. Once they finally called us back, Dr. Karma Taylor (who I actually liked during the exam) was kind and thorough, and she called us the next day to tell us that our dog had an adrenal disease. She said she would call me back in a few minutes to tell me if she had the treatment plan ready or if she needed to order it in. No one ever called me back. I called the next day to follow up and was told "oh, the doctor is busy. Ill have her call back". Again, no one called me back. After calling repeatedly the next day, and being blown off time after time, I finally decided to take her somewhere else (Animal Crackers Veterinary Hospital, which was AWESOME). They fixed my dog up (and it turns out she DIDNT have what the Brookside vet said she did) and not until TWO DAYS AFTER my dogs overnight stay did Brookside ever call me back. TERRIBLE service. I love my dog way too much to ever take her back to Brookside. Had I waited for Brookside to call me back, my dog would have died from the kidney infection going untreated. No only that, but the prednisone that Brookside wanted to get her on for what they said was an adrenal disease would have surpressed her immune system, making it impossible for her little body to fight off the infection. I shudder to think of what may have happened had we not given up on Brookside and taken her elsewhere.

This past Friday May 6, 2016 we had to put down our 12-1/2 year old Chihuahua who suffered a nasty head injury from a fall down our stairs. In the weeks leading up to the day we decided to put him down Dr. Karma Taylor & her staff were very supportive. They helped us get Toby in for visits & evaluations, he was given medications to try to help him improve. Unfortunately his improvements were not that great & he began to worsen. Dr. Taylor never told us to put him down & offered further options for us, but near the end his suffering was constant and it was the right thing to do. On the day of his passing they were super supportive of us & helped our dog relax before he finally went to sleep. He was nervous, & she made him comfortable for the whole process. My two oldest kids (ages 10 & 8) were there & were able to have a nice experience with Toby. They are very compassionate & care a lot about dogs. The prices are more than fair, in fact they should raise their prices. I am grateful that we are able to have them as our vet for our dogs, our remaining Chihuahua Tina is still seeing Dr. Taylor for some problems with an ear infection. I have been a customer of Brookside for many years starting with my first pet dog I had in the early 80s. I know they arent taking more patients because they are busy as is, but if they are ever opening up for new patients I would highly recommend them for their skill, friendly service, and super fair prices. Thanks again to Dr. Karma Taylor for her kind service to my best friend Toby. I truly miss him & know that I did my best for him by having Karma look after his care. :) Bryan

Sometimes the front desk staff can be a bit gruff.....I could care less. Sometimes they are far out on appointments...thats because they have an enormous client base and are usually booked a week or two out (you can still pay 75$ for an emergency visit...fair compared to the rate at most vets). Ive never in all my visits had a bad experience. In fact when the older receptionist defended my pups against an ignorant woman who freaked out because I had PitBulls and called them monsters...........they had a customer for life. Karma is a fantastic Dr. Since they own the land, building and everything they are able to offer way lower prices than anywhere Ive ever checked previously. The lobby is always nice and clean......and surprise, smells like animals. You know, because its a busy vet office. I have had to reschedule appointments a couple times in the past. Once (shame on me) less than an hour before I had to be there. Yet never once did they charge me a cancellation fee like most Vets. As Im reading some of these other reviews Im getting a bit irritated. Some of them are people who think they should be given preferential treatment. Karma and her staff have always treated me well. Ive been in the waiting room when some self entitled snot comes in thinking they should be seen immediately because little snookums has a hair ball. Id wait 4 hours in the lobby just to make sure that Karma and her staff are the only ones to ever see my kids. To the staff at Brookside, I hope yall read this and know that my family loves yall.

My grandparents and parents have taken their dogs here for years, those babies have come and gone...now I have my own little dog family and take them as well. They are very busy most days and because of the care each pet receives sometimes they get a little behind. I dont mind waiting because the price is very reasonable and they care about my little ones. They have made some improvements more recently to their lobby and exterior. In dire need, Ive taken my dogs other places and been charged 2 or 3 times as much as Brookside would have charged me. Because of how sweet Karma is and the reasonable price I havent been anywhere else in years. Some days while waiting, I see the phones ring and ring and there is a line of people in front of the receptionists. Its understandable when they do get frustrated or have to juggle between continuous phone calls on hold, calling people back and helping those in front of them. Working in customer service myself, I feel for them. They cant control the walk-ins or who calls and when. I think they do pretty good. Some could say, well just hire more staff, but then there goes the price. Working for a small business, I get the delicate balance, no complaints from me! Kudos to the staff, thanks for caring about my furbabies.
