Where to begin... My experience was at the Alexandria location on Duke St. I had never been there before and the receptionist gave me no instructions. When I asked whether I needed to sign in or provide him paperwork, he seemed irritated. He was also short with several other clients. Granted, 50 people without appointments had showed up that morning, so he was probably under a lot of stress. The office was crowded. I was pregnant and fasting and had no where to sit until another woman took pity on me. Another man with an obvious mobility impairment to his legs was also left without a place to sit. Lots of patients were in the waiting room with their entire families, but without any priority seating, people were not polite enough on their own to offer seats to those who really needed them. There was no soap in the dirty bathroom (there was waterless sanitizer). I heard the receptionist explain to a man that they were out of supplies for the test he needed. This was after the man had been waiting for 45 minutes. I waited 1.5 hours to be seen, but I had no appointment. The place seemed quite disorganized. On the plus side, the phlebotomists were friendly and quick. The sticking was nearly painless. I also like that you can easily make appointments online.

I took my one year old son here to have his blood drawn as part of his yearly physical exam. The technician put the needle in his arm and began taking blood, but his arm started swelling and the needle popped out – causing blood to spurt everywhere. We took the needle out, patched up his arm, stopped the bleeding, and worked to calm him down. We were going to try to take blood out of the other arm, and while I began getting him ready for that, the technician all of a sudden left the room, came back with someone (I assume a supervisor), who accused me of taking the needle out of my son’s arm, asked me why I had done that, and refused to take a blood sample. Needless to say my one year old son was incredibly upset, we were both covered in blood, and we now have to put him through the ordeal again in order to have his bloodwork done. We believe his arm is okay, but the doctor is monitoring it closely, as it did swell up considerably. The technician was completely incompetent, and all involved were incredibly unprofessional. Im filing a complaint with the VA Dept. of Health. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I certainly hope the actual lab (location?) is better than this blood-collection facility. I have unfortunately been to this one many times and the service is so bad that sometimes the (many) people in the waiting room just shake their heads and commiserate about it. What we have to talk about: receptionist who is BEYOND disrespectful; inhumanly long waits, sometimes for hours (remember: people are usually fasting and may be sick!); sometimes not enough chairs for the huge numbers of waiting patients. There is no free parking; you have to find the entrance to underground parking sort of around the corner from the front of the building. The whole experience seems inferior to what we as Americans normally expect for services of any kind. You start to feel as though you are in Russia under Communism, or maybe in jail! At least the actual phlebotomists are usually competent.

Unfortunately I have had to have tests performed at Labcorps several times in the past few months. The Alexandria service is a nightmare. I arrived at 8 am and sat waiting until 12.30 pm to have my tests. There were dozens of people around me coughing, wheezing, blowing their nose around me. And this was during the swine flu epidemic. The Glebe Road facility never anwers their phone which is bad because often, when you get there during their stated service hours, there is no one there. This means you have gotten up in the mornng, fasted, missed work, spent a lot of time finding parking and finally, when you get to their door, you see a TV blaring inside the facility, but it is totally empty. I have wasted more than one morning in this way. If they had a recorded message on their phone service, perhaps this could be avoided.

I was told to get lab work done here by my doctor. The extremely rude woman at the front desk also happened to be the woman to took my blood. When I got into the room, I was told that the chair was broken so I would have to have my blood drawn standing. Despite my protests that this was a bad idea because I faint at needles, she proceeded. As expected, a few moments later I collapsed, hit my head, and began dry heaving on the floor. Instead of immediately helping me, she only told me to "stop fainting and keep your arm still" as she continued taking my blood. Afterwards, she still wouldnt let me sit down, and insisted I leave immediately so they could do someone elses labs. I will never go to any LabCorps location again.

Absolutely awful. They closed the office early and were extremely rude when I tried asking why they closed early. "We close at 4:30 pm," they said. "Its 4:23," I said. Nothing, no response. Until they walked out of the office having locked it all up lights off, etc. and tried walking right past me, ignoring me. I said, "Im just curious why you closed early." No response. Unbelievable that Lab Corps continues to get away with treating their patients this way. Alls I hear from others is the same negative patient treatment. NEVER going back. Am filing a formal complaint. Wouldnt even give it one star but had to just so I could post.

The woman who took my blood stuck me several times in both arms. After an overall painful experience, they failed to send my results on to either of the doctors who requested them, and Im still waiting on the results, several weeks later. LabCorp is very successful at lining up partnerships with hospitals, but they seem to have no concern for the customer experience, and they have no follow-through. Their profound disorganization makes me wonder whether they have the administrative faculty to maintain clean needles and follow basic safe health practices. I wont be returning to LabCorp.

No star at all if possible. This the worst ever place to handle visitors. Over the phone they say its a walkin and no appointment later are needed. When you arrive, they say priorities are for appointments. I have been waiting for 2 hours this time. Last time I gave up after 90 minutes. Every time the lady says: "I cannot do anything. Im by myself". Very poor service. Someone needs to look into this place seriously.

Kind of a small thing, but...They had a sign in sheet with no pen. BYOP apparently. The wait was pretty long, half hour or so. The facility didnt seem all that clean to me. The phlebotomist was nice though and seemed to know what she was doing. Hopefully they will take good care of my results and send them to my doc; a couple other scary reviews mentioned lots of misplaced samples...

Really rude front receptionist. Acted like I was doing everything wrong. They told me they didnt have my order so I had to wait an hour for my doctors office to open back up to call them and have them fax it to them. My doctors office assured me they have and have had my order. Terrible mean people here. And have to pay for parking. Not. Worth. It. Even if it is close to my house
