This is a great family dr office. Wait times are short, you will see "your" doctor or nurse practicioner each time. The staff is friendly and never make you feel like just a number. The medical staff takes their time to talk with you and make sure all questions are answered.They are a teaching office and sometimes have medical students shadowing Drs, but the patient is always asked if it is ok for them to come in and they are very respectful of your privacy. The on-call shift is rotated amongst the medical staff, so there is a 1/4 chance that you will get your Dr if you call. On the times I have had to bring my son in on a weekend or after hours to the office to be seen, the Dr. was fabulous. He didnt make me feel like I had ruined his weekend, just wanted to make sure my little boy was ok. They have a sliding scale for low-income families, but never make anyone feel like a second class citizen because of it. I trust them to take care of me and my family.

we have just left dfhc for terrible customer service and a complete inability to meet our needs. i have never been able to call the office and have a question answered easily, a concern addressed efficiently nor have i been treated very nicely. dr. gelberd is a fine doctor, if you can get to him, but frankly, my children are active and need a caring and helpful practice to ensure their care is addressed. i have since found that elsewhere with friendly admin people who understand parents care the most about the well being of their children but delivery is somewhat important as well.

The Drs are wonderful. They provide a level of health care found nowhere else. The Drs are very familiar with alternative methods of healing and will often make suggestions. I refer my own clients to them constantly. However, the office staff if not so great. It takes me weeks of calling repeatedly for forms etc. My calls are never returned by staff. Honestly in 4 years not one return call. I now have a backup Dr when I cant get in for an appointment. Sometimes there is over a month wait for certain Drs. and there are times I cant get my kids In For sick visits.

My experience is that DFHC has consistently gone above and beyond all expectations while providing health care for my wife and I. We never have problems getting appointments and when we are there, its clear that the friendly and caring staff is genuinely concerned with doing whatever it takes to keep us healthy. If you have the opportunity to make DFHC your provider, you will not be disappointed (unless you have unreasonable expectations).

Best Doctors in Charlottesville, Bar None! However with the increasing patient number here at this great practice, the front-end staff often seem to me to be overworked, and over the years as I have been seeing Dr.s Maloney / Gelburd it has taken longer, and longer to get an appointment to see either of them. I may hunt for a new General Practice office here soon. :( :(

I am so happy to have found a doctor who cares for my entire family! Dr.Donavan truly cares for the physical and emotional health of my family. She suggests homeopathic remedies along with more main stream medicines as back up. Definitely the healthcare Ive been wanting for my family. So glad we finally went through the process of getting on as patients.

It took multiple phone calls and arguments with them to have them figure out how to bill an annual checkup with my insurance. In the process one if the Drs forgot to file with the company and they couldnt bill them anyway. They are totally disorganized. Would avoid.

Service leaves something to be desired. Although the appointment and labs went well and my NP is spectacular getting them to respond after the fact is problematic. Healthcare needs to be more heart centered as well as pragmatic.
