Cassandra Cat

I used to use them for about 15 years UNTIL I brought my newly dumped psycho cat to them, they wanted to put her down because she went crazy in the clinic. What? The poor cat was amputated, dumped, and has phantom pain in her paws and possibly arthritis in her back. AND THEY WANTED TO PUT HER DOWN? I have two dumped cats who were declawed and they have post declaw medical complications. Declawing is amputation of each distal phalanx toe bone, a major orthopedic surgery that leaves a cat in pain.Forever. Cats hide their pain. Here is my published article from a local newspaper. There are two bills in legislation now to ban declawing, one in Hawaii and one in New York. Americans are barbarically amputating their cats for the sake of keeping their inanimate furniture in pristine condition. Declawing is a major orthopedic surgery, the removal of each separate distal phalanx toe bone. Veterinarians do not tell what the procedure entails because declawing is a lucrative business.According to the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA), most veterinarians offer declawing and 5% make over $1000/hour performing the procedure. Clients who bring their cats to these veterinarians typically report that neither the nature of the procedure, complications, nor humane alternatives is ever discussed. Many vet techs are quitting practices who declaw because they find it cruel and barbaric. This excerpt of a vet tech was found online..."I can not tell you how many times I heard the cats come out of anesthesia screaming after a declaw. They would throw themselves around the cages, banging their faces, bandaged paws, everything against the walls and the bars. They would fly into a frenzy, ripping off their bandages and gnawing on the mutilated limbs. There would be blood everywhere, on the cage, on the cat. And the screaming would last for hours." I have also read of a cat who killed herself thrashing around in her recovery cage. The person who wrote about it has quit her vet tech job and the horrible memory of this never leaves her. America is about the ONLY country that declaws cats, it is banned in most countries, it is considered a felony with a year in prison and a $20,000 fine if anyone is caught declawing their cat OR dog. Dogs get declawed too, do a search, one dog got declawed because the owner did not like to hear the clicking of his nails on the tile flooring. Do your cat a BIG favor and get educated regarding declawing, your veterinarian will never tell you. They will not tell you about Soft Paws nail caps, or about sturdy scratching posts, or about how to train your cat. Other countries deal with it. They do not think highly of Americans who declaw their cats, I cannot repeat some of their comments in this commentary. The Paw Project is working on making declawing illegal and they educate the public regarding declawing. It is already illegal in seven CA cities, thanks to them. Landlords in some states cannot require tenants to declaw their cats, thanks to the Paw Project.

In my opinion This place is HORRIBLE. They said my dog had a "torn acl" so they gave him medicine. Next he had lyme. We took him to another vet 5 months later and he had KINDEY DISEASE. The medicine they gave him for his "acl" made it even worse. His leg stiffening was a MAJOR sign of lyme. All they care about is GETTING MONEY. So because of them we had to put my THREE YEAR OLD dog down. I DO NOT recommend these people to ANYONE.

This veterinary clinic is bullshit. When you take in a hurt animal and someone is willing to pay for it then you make contact with them and allow them to know what is happening. Not in this case. This clinic put down a helpless animal who had someone to back them without addressing the issue with the owner. They use euthinasia to its full power and overuse it completely.

Very Friendly!! I drive 30 mins to Amberwood because they are amazing. If they know you drive far you can arrive early and they will keep your pet so you can run errands around town before returning for the appointment! You wont find a more friendly staff at any vet.

LOVE them. Reasonably priced and very competent. The entire staff is friendly and professional. I drive 45 minutes and pass four other vets just because they are that awesome. Weve lived all over the country, and this is the best vets office Ive ever been to.

They just want your money and dont care about your bed. Holding pet food at bay for unless I get an exam. Just like most places in northern virginia, all an out money. Theyd let your pet die if they made more money. I hope they go out of business.

I drive from Bealeton (30+ minutes from my house) to see this vet. I am very happy with the service my cats and dogs receive. When it was time to put our dear old dog down they were very compassionate and understanding. I highly recommend them.

Like some of the other reviewers, I drive about 30 minutes and also pass other vet offices just to go here! Theyve always been very friendly and accommodating with both of my dogs. Theyre also MUCH cheaper than other area vets.

I have found this office to be extremely caring and knowledgeable. I appreciate having options when it comes to the care of my animals and they explain their services very well and then allow me to make choices.
