CARING AND PROFESSIONAL As a child, I had numerous problems with my teeth that my parents were unable to pay for. After I became a young adult I decided to look for a dentist who could get rid of the blemishes and make my teeth pretty. Friends recommended Dr. Kirksey. I first saw Dr. Kirksey about 15 years ago. I went to him for a free consult. He listened to my concerns, took xrays, and made a list of the problems with my teeth. Dr. Kirksey made a plan that allowed me to have my work done at a rate that I could pay for. His prices were very reasonable. Dr. Kirksey was very patient with me and very gentle. After several appointments, when Dr. Kirksey had finished my work, my teeth looked beautiful. I was so astounded that he could make my teeth so improved. There were no more blemishes or dark marks on my teeth. With time, I gradually began to smile more freely and with less self-consciousness. Now I smile with confidience because I receive frequent compliments on my pretty teeth and smile. Dr. Kirkseys work has stood up so well that for the last 14 years I only get my two cleanings and a flouride each year. In addition to my work, Dr. Kirksey did braces on my young son who had very crooked teeth. Dr. Kirksey straightened my sons teeth and made them the way they should be normally. My son is now a young adult in his 20s and his teeth are still straight and handsome. I can recommend Dr. Kirksey as a fair and highly skilled dentist who cares about making his patients happy with his work. R.

I am writing this two months after my last visit to their office. My overall experience of the Dr. Kirksey and his office is poor (understatement). If you are reading this, please find another dentist. I went for a procedure that I’ve had done twice before (once by his son who works there as well) and it was horrendous. A two hour (max) procedure took five hours, I’m not exaggerating. Those five hours, he only worked on my teeth for less than an hour, during which he was in constant haste because he was running room to room working on others. The procedure itself was an absolute torture keeping my mouth open for that long and even worse he was berating his assistant the entire time. I had a talk with him after, he apologized and tried to make me feel better by telling me how good of a job he did on my teeth. At the end, when it was time to reschedule, he told the assistant to schedule me with another dentist in a snarky way as if I was the problem. The only reason I went to his office was because his son (nice guy) removed my molars for a good price. To conclude, Dr. Kirksey is unprofessional, grumpy and tense. The atmosphere there was very uncomfortable and after comparing his office to my current dentist’s office, everything there is completely out of date just like the doctor.

Nice dentists there. OK work. So no complaints on technical ability. But... They WILL nickel and dime you. They scheduled an appointment for me for a routine cleaning without my permission. Then when I didnt show up billed me $65 for missed a appt. They refused to remove this gouge fee even when Myself and my daughter came back to do $2500 worth of crowns several months later. Overall it seems they are interested in your money and not your teeth. I noticed they did a lot of remodeling in the office so I guess they have to pay for it. You would think they would want the $2500 as it would be a bigger fish than $65 but I guess when you want to extract the most money possible from your patients then this would make sense. I have another tab open in my browser at the moment to select a new dentist as I will not be going back to this one. Overall: Pros -OK work, shiny new office. Cons -Schedule routine appointments for you unasked. Seems all they want is your money. Slightly rude and inflexible front office staff. *Review Update: Beware the several 5 star reviews of this dentist as it appears that there a quite a few Shill reviewers trying to pump up his Google rating. I would estimate his overall true rating at about 2.1 stars overall*

I cannot believe the dentists working here are certified. I came in with tooth pain; my back molar had thermal sensitivity and hurt when I ate or drank. Id been told by my former dentist I would likely develop cavities in my molars since the grooves were so deep. The dentist poked around, looked at my x- rays and did a cold sensitivity test, after which he told me I had dark staining, but definitely not cavities. He tried to convince me I had a cracked tooth, that I needed a crown and should do a root canal while we were at it.( I noticed another comment said he was like a used car salesman-- I totally agree.) He tried way too hard to get me to do it then and there; well, now I know why. I went to another dentist the next day who, in half the time with the same tests, confirmed I had deep cavities in my back molars. I had them filled the next day. I finally received an itemized receipt from Dr. Kirkseys office, which for some reason they couldnt supply at the time of my visit. They charged for three separate pulp vitality tests, even though the pain was only in one tooth. Overall impression: dishonest, bordering on a scam.

This dentist, as many here have described, is a crook. I had a chipped tooth on a Saturday and had to travel the next day. I went in and and he spent 1.5 hrs doing 30 minutes works. It was a small chip on the front tooth, so pretty straght forward repair. He billed my insurance company for 8 items, 4 of which and over half of the charges involved photos and xrays. The insurance company expaned that three billed items were unnecessary and would not cover them. As an in network dentist, this "should" mean that he drops the cbarges. However, he has already billed me and refuses to reimburse me. I plan to take the time to ensure he either reimburses me the correct amount or he is dropped from the in network list for delta dental.

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I found them on accident. I fell down the stairs and broke my two front teeth. No one else would help me, but Dr. Kirksey had me come in on Mothers Day and did two root canals and put temporary crowns in on the same day. He didnt rush even though it was a "holiday" He was very helpful. In addition, his staff has been very helpful so far in working with my insurance to make sure my medical insurance covers it. I just had my permanent crowns placed today and I cannot even share how excited I am!! I was so nervous, but they look great.

The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant to interact with. Having read the reviews on this site, I can definitely see how some would view him as a negative person. Dr. Kirksey is an extremely transparent person and demands a lot from his staff and patients. He is old school and there is nothing wrong with that. If you follow his instructions and do what your told, there is no issue. I personally appreciate Dr. Kirksey and staffs work ethics. There isnt that many Dr.s out there who work like him.
