I was sent to Sentara Lake Ridge Hosp from urgent care. I arrived in the ER and waited less than 30 mins before taken to the back room. I was seen by ER Dr. He who the nicest guy ever. He took the time to talk to me and explain my circumstances. He believed I had viral meningitis and had to send me to Sentara Hosp on Opitz to do the lumbar procedure and be assigned a room. Dr. He ordered pain medication immediately and before I left, I could move my neck again. I was transported to Sentara Hospital on Opitz by ambulance. Once there the team helped me recover. I was there several days and appreciate Dr. Amerees team of doctors for taking care of me. His team took the time to explain what was going on with me which made me feel as ease. All together 3 doctors visited me each day. The nursing staff was wonderful, especially Olguine. She is cheerful, sweet, patient and experienced!! Most of the nursing staff was very friendly and concerned. Even the cafeteria lady Mary B took the time to call me every day to go over my meals and allowed me to substitute and exchange things to my liking. This hospital was very attentive to me which is very important and necessary when I was feeling at my lowest. The only things that could have been improved was when my IV was beeping, a quicker response to check it and turn it off would how been nice. Also, one of the nurses had a hard time giving me an IV and had to poke me several times unnecessarily. She needed more training I think. However, I will definitely be coming here again if ever needed. Thank you Sentara Hosp for taking care of me and helping me feel well again!!

Ok so last night my daughter was running a really high fever of 103.2 and was showing signs of going into a fever seizure. I get there and waited in the waiting room for about 15 mins until the triage nurse called us back. She took her temp it was 103.2. She said what was doses I was giving her 1.5 to 2mls as told by HER doctor 2 months ago. And she told me "well if you were giving her the right doses you wouldnt be here" and she was about to send us on our way. And I told her that I know my daughter and she wouldnt be crying nonstop and cranky and not eating and running a fever for no reason. And she said well we will send you on back anyways. So we got back there and my nephew had to use the bathroom. He wanted to make sure where the room was before he went so he knew where we were. And that same nurse said no you have to stay in here. And when my fiance tried to take her diaper off that same nurse said in a very loud tone "no I will do it!" She made me feel very uncomfortable and made me feel like it was a mistake of taking her when I knew something was wrong. I was trying to tell them in terms that they would understand that she was showing signs of going into a seizure and they bypassed that. And the nurses even said that she was fine until the doctor came in and said she has an ear infection and a virus in her lungs which is causing her cough. NURSES WHEN A MOTHER SAYS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG LISTEN TO THEM. Thats all Im saying. I may be a FTM but I do know my child and how she acts when shes sick and when shes not.

I walked in this place around 9:20pm waited maximum 20 minutes in the waiting room before I was called. Which really is not bad, but the worst part is after the doctor saw me and said I needed lab work and medication. She said some one would be right with you. Now that was at least by 10:10 pm. I was in the room waiting for the lab and medication until I got tired of waiting, so I called for a nurse that was 11:50 pm. A nurse come o told I have been here waiting for labs and medication. She told me yes I understand, we are busy. Does that mean Im not important? Or Im there wasting time? I go there with upper abdominal pain that I have had for 4 days. All they say is we are busy! WTF! I left with no labs and no medication. That is Sentara for you if you like to go there I hope your either a kid or elderly. That is all they are good for, they called them quickly and helped them, me on the other hand they care less. Next time I will have to make a trip from Woodbridge to Fairfax Hospital. To get better service.

Emergency needs immediate attention. That is why I had to take my wife (she is pregnant) to the hospital at 11pm. After patient registration at 11:10 we were asked to wait at the lobby for the call. We sat there and waited. My wife was crying because of so much pain in her tooth. But we never received any attention. Finally at 4 in the morning we were taken to the exam room. By the time the doctor came, her pain had slowed down a little bit. But pain plus wait is something that you will never want to experience. There was only one physician in the hospital and so many patients. Unfortunately we had to come to this hospital for an appointment again. We scheduled the appointment 30 days ahead of time. We got there 15 min early to check in, but we had to wait for 60 min to go to the exam room. The registration clerk had messed the forms up. So we had to do it again. We had bad experience there both for emergency and appointment too. I do not recommend this hospital at all.

This hospital use to my first choice but now.. I dont recommend them to anyone!! A friend of mines went in there with a fever and vomiting. The nurse asked him why was he back there after being seen the night before for the same thing and given Tylenol to bring the fever down and no findings from bloodwork and an X-ray. The nurse told me there was "nothing wrong" with him and sent him home. The next day, with the same symptoms, we went to Potomac hospital.. whom did the same test..bloodwork and x-ray and the "nothing wrong" diagnosis from this hospital ended up being a 5 day hospital stay with Pneumonia!! The nurses I have had interactions use to be very nice but now, when you talk to them, its like your bothering them. No bedside manner at all!!

the waiting, and then more waiting, and waiting some more in a different room. XRay guy was on point with promptness, and then stuck back in a room to wait for results, that are INSTANT, but they make you wait so long to know, so much waiting!!!!! I am writing this to reduce boredom while I wait. (while in pain) so far, I have used up almost 3 hours of my time WAITING. I was here a few years ago and it was awesome.... now, I will choose elsewhere when in pain looking for relief from now on. edit: "ONE DOCTOR" on staff, there should be a note on the door, we should have the option of choosing elsewhere for IMMEDIATE service verses THREE HOURS without being seen, ever, EVER by a doctor. Never was seen by the doc.
