This office is full of nothing but incompetent wworkers. The first visit we had an appointment and showed up 15 minutes early like they asked. Filled out the paper work and then that when the problems started. Now, before I get ahead of myself, When you initially call to set up an appointment they ask for your insurance information and let you know that they accept it or not. They let me know that they accepted my insurance and went along with setting up the appointment. When we get there and check in they ask for the insurance again. So I gave it to them. I sat there for an hour and a half while they apparently "verified the insurance" eventually they said that it would take another hour and if I wanted to come back in an hour then that was fine. So I did. Well I get a call about 30 minutes later saying that apparently the insurance system was down for an hour and asked if I just wanted to reschedule but they would keep that days appointment on the books so it continues to get verified so when we came in the next time we would be all set. I went along with it. Well today we had his second visit to TRY and be seen again. I walked in and told them that I had already talked to someone at corporate office and they said i should have no problems. They were WRONG! Once again i sat there for almost another hour waiting for the incompetent office manager to "verify the insurance" once AGAIN! After waiting a few more minutes I decided to call the insurance company myself. They told me that Kool Smiles had already verified the insurance last week and deemed us not eligible even though we WERE eligible and didnt understand why. While I was still on the phone with insurance the office manager called me back up and I told her that I didnt understand what the hold up was because the insurance already verified and we were ready to be seen. She then told me that she was waiting on the "main office" to call (a.k.a corporate office who I talked to this morning and said I shouldnt have any problems) at this point she then told me it would be another hour! PULLING THE SAME CRAP THEY DID LAST WEEK! So I just told them nevermind and to take my son out of their system and left and made sure to tell the insurance to make sure these scammers didnt send them a bill. Unless you have Medicaid I suggest going somewhere else because obviously these people dont have the brains to get their crap together BEFORE your appointment.

There have been reports out of Maryland and Washington, DC of much abuse in the Small Smiles Dental Clinic chains. Headquarters tells dentists in these clinics to place unnecessary baby root canals and metal crowns which contain the allergic metal nickel. I have seen news reports of these kids coming out of the clinic with their whole front of their mouths stainless steel from those ugly caps! Some of the clinics tie down the kids in a papoose board and while the child screams and cries and the mother is waiting in the waiting area, the child is assaulted with this unnecessary dental work. According to news reports the clinic can collect $214 from Medicaid for the root canals or the stainless steel crowns when they would only get a fraction of this amount from fillings. The clinics get bonuses if they can get the mother to "convert" to the more expensive procedures. And beware off the use of the mercury dental fillings. Silver fillings are 50% mercury. Demand the use of resin tooth colored fillings. You would be better off in a private practice that is mercury free. There are some mercury free dentists in Roanoke, but most of them are not pediatric dentists. But some of the mercury free dentists do take children. I do not know what is going on in Roanoke at the Small Smiles. Just be aware of what is happening at other places! Do a google search and you can find videos of these Small Smiles Clinics and their abuse.

I recently went to the dentist and took my eldest daughter which is 12 years old to have her canine tooth pulled and also the first molar tooth. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would say Id give them four and a half Stars butt I had to wait an hour and a half. And typically Im pretty easy to please. But when I left Friday night I was second-guessing that they pulled the wrong tooth. So instead of pulling the first canine tooth in the first molar tooth they pulled the first two molar teeth and skip the canine tooth. So now I regret that Im very concerned that the teeth may not come in properly and she may need braces or something and I would hope that they would know to pull the right teeth because I know when I went in for the dental cleaning they pointed out which two teeth they were supposed to pull however even though the staff was very friendly they pulled the wrong tooth. So after dental insurance the bill was about $117.40. So worried now that we know theyre going to reconcile this to make it right. And still yet feel concerned about how the teeth are going to come in properly. So I left a voicemail on their customer care line with my work number to call back this Monday on May 9th 2016 and I do hope to hear back from them concerning this issue.

I hate this dentist with a passion. It is absolutely ridiculous how long it takes for these people to actually call their patients back. I waited for a full hour to my daughter to get called back. Other people had walked in after us and were getting called back before her. When she finally did get in she was one of two patients on one side of a room. The other child was getting his teeth cleaned and then another child walked in and sat in the middle seat. My daughter went to get her X-rays and then the hygentist went to clean the middle Childs teeth and she had to be taken back to get X-rays. Instead of the hygentist cleaning my daughters teeth she waited for the other child to come back and sat at her seat doing absolutely nothing. Then she called a woman over to brush my daughters teeth who was not a hygentist. She rushed her and I was so dissapointed. This is the absolute worse dentist ever. Dont even waist your time.

I am only putting one star and they do not deserve that. It all starts at the front office. They are VERY rude. They are the first impression that people get of your office and it is not a good one. I have worked in medical office for almost 18 years. I had an appointment and had to wait 1 hr and 25 minutes before I was even called back and then they rushed my daughter through everything. The cleaning she received was for only 1 or 2 minutes. I was very upset and then they were not going to do the fluoride which I was being billed for. I had to remind them 2 times. My daughter is 7 and they were not going to let me be right beside her. I do not think so. I DO NOT leave my daughter alone in a strange office. NO BODY is friendly. The dentist lady was the nicest that was there and the girl that was training. I am so discussed with your office and my experience with your office.
