NEW to town, and brought my sick little Allie kitty to Dr. Johnson as a second opinion. After not being happy with the first vet I brought her to, I contacted Birdneck Animal Hospital. I called and told the receptionist why I was calling, and I was upset from my previous experience at a SUB PAR vet... A.K.A, Dr. Smith at Independence Animal Hospital. She listened to my concerns, and seemed very compassionate. I was able to bring Allie in the very next day. I took her on a Sat. The office WAS busy, and we werent seen on time... we were about 30mins late being seen. After we got into the exam room and Dr. Johnson came in ...that didnt matter. I could tell by his demeanor and the way he listened to me and examined Allie ..that I could trust him. I also read through the New Patient packet that was given to me, and he lists his PERSONAL phone number and makes himself available to his clients until 10pm every night. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?!?!?!? ....Hallelujah!!! He confirmed my fears, that Allie had an infection, BUT I also felt validated. People know their pets, and know when they arent feeling well.... I actually cried a little in the exam room... #1 because I was happy that he was going to treat Allie and she would get better finally.. and #2 I was PISSED that the vet previously ignored my feelings and kept telling me she was fine, and it was "Just allergies". Allie did start to act like her usual self, more every day. I went back a week later for a follow up visit...and Allie, now for the most part is back to her sweet playful little self. THANK YOU TO DR. JOHNSON AND TO THE ENTIRE STAFF AT BIRDNECK ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for being kind and helpful, caring and overall fantastic. 2 thumbs up from this cat lady!!!!!!! :)

I worked for Dr. Johnson at Birdneck Animal Hospital for 3 years. I worked all aspects of the job, including reception, veterinary assistant, as well as managing the clinic. I highly recommend Birdneck Animal Hospital to anyone looking for the utmost care of their pet. Dr. Johnson gives the most thorough, comprehensive exams on patients that I have ever seen. Ive been to other clinics, having had pets my whole life, and no exam has come close. Dr. Johnson gives dedicated one on one time with each patient and their owner, and is always courteous and compassionate. Dr. Johnson has a small group of employees, which are exceptional. The clinic has a family atmosphere because of this, and you will be remembered and greeted with a smile each and every time you visit. Dr. Johnson runs a full service hospital. He will see your well pets for routine exams and vaccinations, as well as seeing your pets if they are not feeling their best. Surgeries, blood-work diagnostics, laser therapy, x-rays, ultrasounds...the clinic has everything you will need. If you are looking for a new veterinarian, schedule an appointment with Dr. Johnson. You will not be disappointed.

I am very disappointed in this vet. We recently moved to the area and needed to get one of our babies (our little dog) his yearly shots. When I walked in there the office staff was very welcoming, which I thought was awesome. However, that was the only good part. The vet was dirty in my opinion, and our dog got fleas and a skin infection from them. The reason we were able to narrow it down is because not only did the owner before me talk about how her dog was full of fleas, but the vet also complained about how the dog in the room before us was covered in fleas. We have never ever had a flea issue and our dog has very sensative skin so we have had a hard time using flea medications. About a day or so later we noticed our dog begining to itch himself and as the week went on it got worse. Our other dog started itching so we knew it was fleas. I WILL NEVER use this vet again and I suggest you dont either. The vet was extremely pushy as well; he kept asking for our dog to be dewormed even though we got them dewormed about a month and a half ago. Their prices were way higher then Ive ever experienced too, but that might just be the area.

I took my pet here to fix a health problem. Great staff, clean establishment. However following the appointment, disappointed we were not able to find the problem in spite of the money spent I came home and wrote a lengthy and disgruntled review regarding what I perceived as "lazy" healthcare for the price. While I still hate to say I feel as though perception can be reality, and at the time felt disappointment, today I received a letter from Dr. Johnson that has altered my opinion drastically. Dr. Johnson personally wrote a letter very positively addressed my concerns, listing why he chose his courses of action and reaching out to address my issues as a customer. I have to admit that I misjudged the situation and taking the time to write a letter is meaningful and indicative of a thoughtful owner of a practice and steward of your pets health. Hence 4/5 stars.

I have never had a more lovely and caring vet in my entire life. When my little kitty Melanie became very sick with a terminal illness Dr. Johnson and his staff were so thorough and caring in how to help us keep her happy and comfortable in her last few weeks. The thought of losing our kitty was so painful that Dr. Johnson made a very caring and loving house call to us the day we knew she was so ill she couldnt go on anymore. He and his staff made all the arrangements including having the pet cremation service arrive at our home the same time when he arrived to help her through the transition. We were able to help our little kitty girl pass on in the comfort of her own home and with dignity as all animals should have. Dr. Johnson is the only vet I will allow my precious kitties to be seen by, he and his staff are a god send.

I just love this place and so does my dog! We started to go to Dr. Johnson and his staff 2 1/2 years ago when we got our first puppy. It was nice to walk into a new place and have a Welcome Sammy sign for my new puppy. You can really tell that the staff and Doctor just love animals. Everyone is very friendly and professional! My dog Sammy just loves to go too- (I remember when I was growing up that my family dog always was shaking when we took her to the vets) but not my new puppy! Dr. Johnson is very thorough and explains to me everything he is doing for or to my dog. I give this place 5-Stars!!! You and your pet will be very happy here! Thanks Dr. Johnson!!

I visited Birdneck Animal Hospital once and would not return. Though the staff was friendly, the doctor has a cold manner and I didnt not appreciate their methods of restraining my pet during the exam. The whole process felt very cost oriented, with a push for services that other vets deemed unnecessary. Those same procedures were also priced very uncompetitively when compared to quotes form other local veterinarians. The sugguestion of using their in-house payment plan also made me feel suspicious about the high cost of procedures.
