I took my husband recently for an appointment. He saw Dr. Mark Shaver. Dr. Shaver examined my husband and without any sort of chest x-ray he made the diagnosis my husband was suffering from a viral upper respiratory infection. He instructed us to let the virus run its course and wait it out with some minimal OTC medicines. I was shocked the doctor hadnt even prescribed a cough medicine as my husband had a VERY VIOLENT COUGH AND WHEEZING. My husband came home and got worse over the course of that day and the next. I took him to the Vancouver Urgent Care where they suspected Pneumonia right away and after a chest x-ray determined he indeed had pneumonia. I am furious and extremely disappointed Dr. Shaver did not take more time to make the correct diagnosis and basically allowed my my husband to get worse and suffer unnecessarily more than he needed to!! This could have been very dangerous had we let this go as long as Dr. Shaver had suggested. Patients beware!!
