Caminar is a company that has offices in multiple places. I had the unfortunate experience of crossing paths with their offices in Las Vegas. Myy physical health necessitated my need for their help. I was awaiting Social Securitys approval and was homeless. They put me in a group home setting, with other people who had my same ailment, in a converted convalescent building. It was while I was here, for maybe 2-3 months that I came to find out that they were misappropriating federal grants and committing fraud. I tried to point out to them, that as they were robbing Peter to pay Paul, they were leaving Peter broke. Money expressly directed for specific purposes could NOT be misused. They didnt like the fact that I had pointed this out, and I was given 5 days to get out. I was homeless all over again. I landed in a position where I had to leave all my possession, and ended up taking care of a man, whom became a dear friend as he died of ALS. This experience left me so distraught that I attempted suicide 5 times. The last cost me a lot. The Las Vegas office put me in harms way and nearly cost me my life. All because I had the audacity to point out that what they were doing could get them in serious trouble.

I would like to make a comment about Caminar. Ive both worked for and been a client of Caminar for many years. Its always been a cliquish organization. Its made up of people who want to advance in the mental health field and as such cover up for each others failures. It is lavished with large amounts of money. As an employee there I saw many professionals make grave mistakes at their jobs. It was always covered up though by management because it was a "scratch my back and Ill scratch yours" type of operation. Not how good of a job you do. My manager had me working there excessive hours ,but denied me medical benefits as a way of trying to get rid of me. Simply because I wasnt well liked, and didnt fit into their culture. As a client at their Redwood House facility I was discharged with no follow up in 24 hours to a shelter in the community because of nothing I did wrong, but rather because of an admissions director who was hateful bigot. He let me stay in local hospital for 23 days trying to avoid admitting me again not because of anything I did wrong but because he didnt like me. Not a humanitarian group.

Terrible just Terrible...doesnt even deserve 1 star. They could care less for mentally ill.. no accomadting for patients with trauma PTSD. No choice of seeing female staff and forced to therapy with males only. Dont bring your loved ones here. The staff treated my sister terrible.
