Had a hernia surgery here and was impressed at the attentiveness, professionalism, and thoroughness of the staff. Ive had several prior surgeries elsewhere (unfortunately), and I cant recall being as impressed with a surgery center as the one at Sequoia Hospital. - They were extremely conscientious re preventing infections, one of the most common (and awful) complications one can experience from surgery. Not only is the hospital very clean, but they had me wipe down my entire body with antiseptic wipes, take an antiseptic mouthwash, and more. - They made sure I was comfortable. Nurses checked on me frequently. Instead of the typical paper-thin hospital gown, they had me wear a "warming gown," with an optional and adjustable heater attachment. They brought me multiple juice boxes when I was recovering. And also, they were kind and welcoming to my friend who came to visit me and take me home. - The staff I chatted with by phone before the surgery were also pleasant and helpful. - The anaesthesiologist on staff there, Dr. Daniel McFarland, did an amazing job; despite me being under full sedation for the two hour surgery, for once I didnt have a lick of nausea or dizziness afterwards, and just hours after surgery I had a roaring appetite and was spending time with friends. My only quibble with this hospital was the overwhelming amount of paperwork they had me read, sign, and take home the day of my surgery. This really could -- and should -- have both been given to me earlier AND ideally in digital form so I could more easily review and save it. But overall, I was really impressed with Sequoia Hospital and wouldnt hesitate to go there again if needed. P.S. -- Ive seen that many of the low reviews for this hospital are about their fees and billing practices. Im grateful to have outstanding medical coverage with my company, but from a bigger picture perspective, I think its more a sign of our horribly messed up country that people can come into a hospital and leave with financially crippling medical bills in the tens of thousands of dollars. IMHO, though, thats more a commentary on the state of our nations healthcare policies vs. the practices of a specific hospital.

This place is horrible and should be shut down. There may have been one other patient in the emergency room besides me the staff had no empathy, the hospiral ER rooms are old and run down looking. The female nurse was okay. I was given pain meds (thank god) to help ease the pain. When the dr. could not figure out what was wrong with me after pre diagnosing me with something I could not have which was in my chart the male nurse that was sent to release me didnt explain anything and was rushing me out. I had to call him back to slow down and answer my questions so I could understand what I was being sent home with, one item I should not take due to another condition and his response was just dont fill it I was so drugged when released, no one asked me if I has someone with me to drive me home. I could have gotten in a car wreck, I didnt know where I was since I am not from this area and it was 6 am in the morning and dark. I was so drugged that when I made it home I passed out in my vehicle with the car running, doors unlock in my parking lot alone. And I am still in terrible pain

OK hate might be a strong word. Before I even had my procedure I got a call form Financial Services informing me of my financial obligation -- where is the dignity in that? I arrived at the hospital only to have to circle the parking lot for 10 minutes. I reach the elevator and it is disgusting -- there are used medical supplies on the floor -- gross. I get off of the elevator and the place is dirty; in fact, I had to have the nurse tidy up the place prior I would sit on the bed. I had questions regarding the documentation I needed to sign and spend 20 minutes waiting for some curt employee who seemed very annoyed at the fact I had questions. The anesthesiologist was confused about the level of anesthesia to administer. For an outpatient surgery (procedure time 30 min.) -- market price $3,374 -- cost at Dignity Health $35,347.00; where is the dignity in that? You people should be ashamed of yourselves associating my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with your greed.

I have had minor surgery twice here, one in 2010 and 2011. Things were good especially when I was attended by nurse WENDY. A compassionate and humorous lady, who made my visit there enjoyable , as hard as that is to believe. However the next time, I had a angry Asian nurse, who tried to tell me I had not taken 1/2 a med, which I had, because it would upset my stomach. The med was totally insignificant; to my health or recovery, another nurse and my Dr. agreed .( I have lots of medical training too) She wanted to argue about this, on and on, and wouldnt listen to me or check up .was very unpleasant. I am not a old disoriented chinese man. This is the way she talked down to me. I am a white american ,above average intelligence with medical training. This incident spoiled my visit.

Wonderful expereince, excellent, compsionate ,caring staff. Including cleaning crew, transport, technicians, cnas, nurses, administration and Doctors. Doctors and staff explain and provide information to keep patient and family informed and cared for. I felt like people generally cared about how I was doing. Very clean, rooms, halls, and linens. My husbands only complaint it was difficult to find food to purchase, lack of variety, staff did take care of him when they knew he missed the cafeteria hours.

Terrible hospital. The staff misdiagnose all the time. My mother went in for a simple procedure which she had done many times, they ended up puncturing vital organs and died within a little over 24 hours in a nearby ICU. NOT ONLY ARE THEY TOO EXPENSIVE, but they are not accurate, uneducated, and should be sued, plain and simple. Do not trust this hospital.

Had to stay 5 days for a surgery & recovery the nurses were really attentive and friendly, doctors were professional and answered allot of my familys questions. Cafeteria is convenient so you dont have to leave to get food. Its not crowded like other hospitals. Thanks to the docs and staff they were caring and helpful in a time of great stress.

Weve been here several times. Gave birth to two kids and took one for stitches to the emergency room. The doctors have always been amazingly nice, caring, and competent. The nurses are just superb. The facilities are private, clean, and state-of-the-art. We are blessed to have such a wonderful facility nearby.

This is the most expensive ER in the world. Charged me $1125.00 to ask 3 questions and $385 in Dr fees, whereas a Physicians assistant had asked me the above 3 questions. I was discharged in less than 5 minutes with a bill of $1510.00 There is nothing DIGNIFIED of this DIGNITY Health hospital. It is a SHAM.
