When looking for an Assisted Living facility for your loved one remember CNAs really do it all. The nurses are there maintaining medications and treatments and all of the endless paperwork, but all of the the day to day living activities are preformed by the aids. The biggest problem that Forest Ridge has is that there are too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. They are always short staffed, this is caused by the fact that the resident numbers are regularly down so less staff and the CNA call in rate. If there isnt enough CNA staff no matter how hard they work there will always be dependent residents that are not getting timely care. I worked as an aid part time for 6 months for FR and was constantly frustrated by the fact that most of the full are jaded by their jobs and everyday of the week there are multiple call ins. It is not uncommon to have 2 aids on a wing because someone called in. This is about 30 residents for 2 people. When you think about the fact that the majority of these residents are dependent there is no way that everyone is always dry and clean or that they are getting a constant high level of care. They do have a new administrator (within the last year) and they are really trying to get their ratings up, they are a 1 star facility, but it is going to take an overhaul to make that place top notch. My point in writing this review is not to talk bad about anyone there its just to make people aware of how the facility works. I loved my residents and would do anything to improve their lives.

I wouldnt let my anyone I loved anywhere near this snakepit. I heard many of the patients say they were losing weight steadily because the food was so bad. I saw it and it looked disgusting. One of the nurses had no idea of infection control. When changing a bandage, she didnt wash her hands or use gloves and she touched most of the surface of the bandage with her fingers. I couldnt believe it! Housekeeping only cleans the floors, never the other surfaces and consequently every stomach bug and respiratory virus sweeps through the place. There are violent residents there, residents that have been caught stealing, and no one does anything about it.

I recently had the opportunity to shadow at this facility, I loved it. the C.N.As and nursing staff, are fast paced, caring and dedicated. The maintenance crew and housekeeping crew are warm enthusiastic people, the kitchen staff is top drawer quality, the games aid and advising director are fabulous. I read the previous comments, and people do not realize the dietary needs as well as 24 hour care involved with each client. I found it warm and inviting, and was glad to be useful at this facility:)
