I have been Dr. Silvers patient for over 12 years, thank God. He has saved my life many, many times, when no one else knew what to do for me. Its so scary to be in the hospital and the docs dont know how to proceed safely because I dont respond. They call Dr. Silver and he sees me through yet another crisis. Granted hes shy, but there is a very kind, big-hearted guy there, given the chance. He has a very soft, tender side and truly cares about his patients, only wanting the best for them. Hes friendly and extremely knowledgeable. You need that in a specialist, an ally, someone who will go to bat for you. I require a lot of appointments because of my diseases, and Ive never felt like I was there just to help him make his car payment. Appointments are made because YOU require them for your situation. Hes not afraid or hesitant to get additional help, and I am a very complicated case. Hes always made time for me, making sure I understand whats happened and what needs to be done to keep me home and safe. I would give him my right arm, as would my husband and kids. He means the world to us. And his gal? Shes amazing, always knowing just what to do to get you taken care of efficiently. Shes not a housekeeper, shes a multi-tasker, so what if every file isnt neatly stacked, she knows where every piece of paper is. And the phlebotomist- maybe the other person saw her on a bad day, but I have known her for awhile, and she always has a kind word. She has always been professional in her demeanor. Last year I had to see him 28 times and I never regreted it once. More appointments just means Im in a place where I need to be checked on more frequently. And Im still alive and living a good life over 12 years after the other doc didnt know what to do. I would have died if I stayed with the other one, wouldnt have seen my kids graduate from high school, etc. I would highly recommend him to any one who needs his experience, training and expertise. Hes wonderful.

I saw Dr. Silver for two years and hated every time I went in. He was very concentrated on the details (kept changing my medication because my bp was 123/76 and he wanted it below 120) and kept me taking unnecessary tests. If you are overweight he will make you feel like you are dying. He also gave me a medication that was very dangerous for pregnant women when he knew I was trying to get pregnant. He also gave me a medication that dangerously lowered my potassium without warning me of this common side effect, and when my primary doctor drew my blood she almost hospitalized me (I also had really bad leg cramps and had no idea why). To summarize: terrible bedside manners esp. if you are overweight, lack of info about the meds he gives you, and he will run unnecessary tests and have you come in for unnecessary appointments if you have good insurance.

So there are many reviews on Dr. Silver that are pretty much on the money. Hes not very personable at all.The pharmacuticals reps "models" are the "pushers" of his diagnosis. The receptionist however is the cherry on the cake. She is rude, talks way to much about other patients to patients, wont even look up at you to say "Ill be right with you" if shes on the computer, phone, or simply writing something down. I was going to Dr. Silver for 2 years (why??) until one day I just walked out and never returned. I stood at the reception desk for 12 minutes before she gave me eye contact. What was she doing? Talking to a patient about another patient there that has a bad scar on her throat from a procedure done, adding that "it looked like someone had slit her throat". Thats just one incident, there are many, many more.

Zero stars. Do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere. I have to echo other reviewers who say that he is not personable or friendly, and definitely seems to have an extra dose of contempt if you are overweight. The place is a dirty mess, including the waiting room and the examination room. I didnt like the conversation that we had--it felt like he paid little attention to my personal history. In addition, the young woman who did my blood draw was outrageously rude. Im a fairly tolerant person, but she angered me so completely that I walked over to the receptionist (the only nice person there, as other reviewers have noted), and told her I needed to go elsewhere to have my blood drawn. She sent me upstairs, to a refreshingly clean office, and a sane and friendly woman. DONT GO HERE.

Dr. Silver gave me good advice, I took it, did as he recommended, and the problems have resolved. There are complications that I have in part at least, as a result. But no question if it had not been for his honesty, and having enough compassion to tell me the truth, communicate this to my other providers, then I am sure I would be much worse off. A lot of folks will not make up the insurance copays, etc, and sometimes that cant be done, medically, I have more debt than God himself can pay, but I made sure I paid it, because really, that is showing some gratitude.

I think that Dr. Silver is very knowledgeable and very good Endocrinologist. He does come off as a bit aloof but after you have seen him a while it is easy to realize that he is a really nice person, just has an odd style of interpersonal interaction (as many of us do). One thing that I really like about Dr. Silver is that he seems very much on top of the latest developments and safety information in regards to Diabetes drugs and they seem to change monthly! The support staff is very friendly and good as well. I highly reccomend this practice. -John Abrams

Yes, Dr Silver is not a good "people person". But he knows what he is doing. Ive been seeing him for a few years now. As soon as he sees that I am developing a problem, he addresses it. If Ive had a test done, or he needs information from one of my other doctors, he will go call them at once. My husband also sees Dr Silver. We have both been helped by Dr Silvers approuch to dealing with our health. The office isnt neatly kept but everyone is "real" and doesnt act like they are too professional to interact with you on a personal level.

I think I would not be alive had I not seen Dr. Silver. I LOVE going to appointments there, everyone is great! I am learning so much about what my body is doing, why and how get my health back on track. He is not outgoing like an actor or politician, but he does have a sense of humor. He is very honest and I think he cares very much about people. AND, he brings his dog to work. Anyone who brings a dog to work is just excellent.

Dr. Silver is just in it for the money. He makes you come every week for 5-10 minute meetings and has you go through tests that I have never done before. Hes bedside manner, like someone else mentioned, is very poor. Hes not personable or friendly. DONT GO.
