The Rest of the Story from Renton Veterinary Hospital Yes, we did lose control of a dog at Renton Veterinary Hospital last Friday We handle hundreds of dogs each year in our boarding facility, year after year and don’t lose them, but last week one got away from us. It was a very scary and bad experience. We called in everyone and sent 5 staff members and the hospital owner out searching until there was no light left to see an animal. We notified the owner right away to seek his assistance since the dog only seemed to respond to him. One staff member, in her car, chased the running dog down 3rd street to the post office and then along the linear park to Sam’s Club. She ran 4 red lights desperately trying to keep Buddy in sight. We talked to the management and staff at Sam’s Club trying to further get leads on where the dog went. During this initial hour, we contacted the agency that microchipped Buddy who then launched alerts, Animal Control, and faxed every other hospital in Renton to let them know what happened. We hired Missing Pet Partnership that night and asked them to come organize a search on Saturday. Once it got dark, we went home and made up posters and on Saturday morning promptly put them up all over the area where the dog was last seen. Staff members continued Saturday afternoon to search grids in the area that Buddy was last seen. The Missing Pet Partnership kicked into gear on Saturday, and although they did not have a scent dog available for this search, they worked with the owner to get posters up in the neighborhood and coached him, based on their experience, on how to get Buddy back. On Sunday morning, Renton Veterinary Hospital staff took a new poster to Staples and had 500 printed. We then gathered staff to hand more posters and do what is known as an intersection intervention on South Puget Sound Ave. That is were staff members handout posters to all cars coming to stop at the major intersection. This was a suggestion from the Missing Pet Partnership. It was at that point that some one saw a poster and alerted the owner to a recent sighting. The owner went to that area, called Buddy and he responded and came running. Buddy, has some scratches but otherwise seemed unharmed. Buddy would only come to the owner, so it had to be he that actually approached the dog. We offered to treat any wounds without charge and refunded the boarding money to the owner. We are all glad this came to a happy end. We know it was stressful and inconvenient for the owner and regret that. We are reviewing all of our policies to ensure that this never happens again. We are not perfect, we are people. When we fail, we do everything we can to make it right. And that is the rest of the story that the review does not tell. We think that the whole story should be told. Dr White, owner of Renton Veterinary Hospital.

HORRIBLE! To be completely honest, everyone has their opinions on how they were treated at this place. Everyone has a story to tell and this is my UNfortunate story about one of my dogs I brought there.. Our dog was showing signs of a disease called leptosporosis, which depending on the severity of it, can be fatal to the animal. Anyways, they started to treat him on Monday, however with the hours of them being closed, I questioned them. I asked them if our dog seems to be showing signs of this disease, wouldnt it be best to have him at a 24/7 facility? Doctors response "If you want to pay more, but its not like we dont have anything they dont." That really upset me. He was there until for a week and EVERYTHING that couldve went wrong, did! They never cleaned him when he threw up and peed on himself, in which I might add, the toxins that were released through his pee had burned his skin. On top of that, we had asked them to wash him because he was so dirty but they told our family they couldnt because of all the medicine he was under, he could get worse if he was bathed. They NEVER, not once, called us when we requested repeatedly to update us about out baby dog. Instead, they had us on hold, made up excuses, or just nevered returned our calls when they said they would. The receptionists were fine, it was the techs that we saw, and DR. BRAWLEY to be exact that showed no care, whatsoever. He would talk to us, but no contact eye to eye. Instead, hed walk away while talking to us.. DISRESPECTFUL! Finally I had enough, I asked them to remove him under their care so I can bring him to a 24/7, unfortunately, our baby dog was too ill to fight back. When they released him to us, they told us they had to wash him, when previously they told us NO!!! what the heck! Come to find out, that made him mroe sick. On top of all that, the Vet we transferred him to told us that this RENTON VET had trashed ALL his leg veins due to poking at him so many times just to draw blood. CARELESS! He passed Sunday, but under the care of a Vet in Burien, whom we REALLY appreciate the help from. I believe if this vet at the Renton Clinic had only paid MORE attention to the severity of our dog, he would still be alive and going strong, but because they seem to neglect the care for him, we lost him. I wanted to put my story out there for others to know what can happen if you decide to put your pet in someones hands that doesnt seem to care, just because they have "Doctor" in front of their name. This is unfortunate and again, everyone has their stories and opinions. This is mine, and I hope all that chooses this facility will have better treatment, if they decide to care for these poor animals.

I have parted ways with Renton Veterinary Hospital due to a recent boarding experience with my small dog. We were away on vacation and my dog experienced a temperature and seizure episode. The vet determined an antibiotic injection was necessary. A day later we were called to inform us of the incident. We said okay, that is fine, though she she has had a couple of these episodes in the past. And we were led to believe no other action would be given. When we picked up our dog, we were given an additional $200.00 bill for 2 more injections at $40 each and a full blood work up. We were never asked for permission to give her these additional treatments, nor were we asked for permission to draw blood. After 2 months of arguing over the bill they told us there was nothing they could do about the bill and they were going to send our bill to collections. I was also informed by the vet technician that they are allowed to do whatever tests and medications they deem might be of benefit to the animal while in their care. Therefore, if they had determined they wanted to do an MRI, they could have, and then charged us for it without our permission. Sure glad we didnt leave our dog there any longer, or our bill might have been outrageous.
