How do you turn away a 79 year old woman who clearly needed medical attention and not, as he assumed, a whiny, attention-seeking patient? This is exactly what DR. SCHOENFELD did! He refused to see her, even though she was there for a follow up appointment with him for a lung issue and nerve pain that he was treating her for. She was visibly in distress, she was weak, trembling, dizzy, and nauseous and had no appetite yet he told her that unless she at least tried to drink the Ensure he was handing her that there was nothing he could do for her. He refused to check her vitals, not even her pulse! If he had done at least that he would have realized she was in distress. When I asked him if I should just take her to the ER he told me I would just be wasting my time since they were just going to give her IV fluids and send her home. Thank God we didn’t listen to this cold, heartless man! What my mom assumed was a bad reaction to oxycodone for the nerve pain was actually her lung issue starting to flare up again. As soon as we got to the ER the triage nurse took her blood pressure and her oxygen levels and then sent her immediately to be seen by the doctors. After many tests, they told me my mother was suffering from respiratory failure! Her heart rate hovered between 145-165 bpm for most of the night, her blood pressure was all over the place and her oxygen levels were low. They had to put a full faced oxygen mask on her to keep her oxygen levels up. She was admitted to the ICU as soon as she was stabilized, after 3 rounds of medicine to lower her heart rate, 6 hours later. If I would have listened to this man and taken my mother home and not directly to the ER, my mother’s condition would have worsened without me knowing what to do to help her. I called the ICU at 5am and told them that under no circumstances do I want Dr. Schoenfeld near her, not to see her chart, not to speak with her, not even to inquire about her. Mistakes can be made but not when the evidence is staring you in the face, begging you to help. This man needs to retire if he can’t handle little old ladies with health issues and complaints.

Warning if you value your life stay away from this doctor ! Around 2012 I went in for a checkup, I ask for a PSA blood test , nevertheless never heard a peep about it until 2014 , when I went back for a check up to find out I had a PSA of almost 8.0 after 2015 after surgery I went back for other medical reasons and ask him how did it go up so fast he ignored me something was wrong !! And I found out using the HIPPA laws and checking the lab reports He never took first blood test .prostate cancer is curable if found early , my cancer came back ! Two years is big when it growing in side you !!! Run out of his office as fast as your feet carry you!

I saw Dr. Shoenfeld for over 12 years in the 1980s and 90s and found him to be a very compassionate and knowledgeable physician, and had I not moved away I would still be seeing him. As a young 30 something he was very sensitive to womens health issues, and was open to some non traditional treatments regarding nutrition and exercise. I also found him to be gentle and friendly.

If you have time to waste this is a great doctor for you. Dr. Shoenfeld is a great doctor, his staff is friendly and polite BUT making an appointment and having to wait for more than 1 hour and half is unacceptable. If timing cannot be managed then what is the purpose of making specific time appointments?
