I first have to say that my animals were a patient here for many years. My miniature schnauzer, Buster was constantly seen here in his later years because he was diabetic and constantly getting urinary tract infections. His doctor was Dr. Cangro. Everybody loved Buster and he welcomed going there. I also had a cat named Boody and she had to be put to sleep from cancer, Dr. Wheat was very professional and new both my husband and I were upset and new we wanted cremation so she said dont worry about paying now, you can pay when you pick up the ashes here. I also had a cat pass on Christmas Day and that weekend I went to the old location and Dr. Pollack was there and he took her and said call the office on Monday and Ill see to it that she is cremated and the ashes returned to you. I also had my Dog, Buster go through surgery only to find out later that his kidneys were failing and had to be put down. Dr. Cangro did a payment plan for the surgery every month because he knew I didnt have the money and I was good paying it till it was paid off. All good and grateful so far. Now 6 years later, I go to the new place on Sunrise Highway with my cat of 18 years who past away in her sleep last night. My son and daughter in law went with me. The ladys at the front desk didnt recognize me even though I went to them for years. They apologized for my loss then told me that I would have to pay up front for the cremation $250 I said that Ive been coming there for years and never had to do that. She told me that she was going to talk to Micala who was in the back I told her that she knows me to come out here. After several minutes of waiting, no doctor around Micaly never came out and I was told that is there policy. I could always go to the crematory directly and work out a payment plans or they could hold the cat till Friday till I paid. I couldnt believe what I was hearing!!!!!!! I walk in there so upset over the death of my beloved cat and now Im being told sorry you have to pay first. I ended up calling my brother and bearing her in his back yard. I hope the owners see this and are ashamed of themselves. My son takes his cat there and after this experience he will not be going back there. I dont know what happened to their compassion but it is gone. I will forever remember the old place and the staff that was compassionate and caring and worked with you. God forbid you dont have the money to save your pet up front, they will turn you away.. Hopefully Dr. Cangro will see this and think twice about what the policy is. My name is Diane Fava, Buster, my gray haired miniature schnauzer who used to give kisses when he came in and went to Dr. Cangro for 9 years.

My first (and last) experience at Bellport Animal Hospital was absolutely horrendous…. I will not recommend this hospital to anyone who loves their pet. I almost lost my kitten by following the hospital’s medical advice. When I confronted the hospital about the mistake of their medical advice, the veterinarians and office manager passed accountability and responsibility on to me. The medical team was unapologetic for their poor medical judgment and tried to justify their failure to take action when I called them about my kitten’s symptoms of lethargy and one episode of vomiting. I made the mistake of following their advice which was to “wait out 24 hours” and I ended up rushing my kitten to the emergency hospital in the middle of the night. I am skeptic of their medical judgment and am appalled by their treatment to a client. I will unequivocally not recommend this hospital. FYI- two other reviews also reported their dishonesty, remorseless actions, and insensitivity.

A week and a half ago our Bassett hound mix got attacked by a pit bull when we were out for our evening walk. We are new to the area and had not yet selected a vet for our dog. After the attack, I frantically called Bellport Animal Hospital since friends had recommended it. Although the woman who answered the phone told me they were closing at 7:30, (I called at 7:29), she said they would wait for us. We rushed Lucy in and from the very first moment we knew we were in loving and capable hands. No matter that they had never treated Lucy before, they took her right in, cleaned her up, and wrapped her wounds. We set up an appointment for surgery the next morning. Thankfully our dog is recovering quickly, her stitches will be taken out tomorrow. Needless to say we have found our new vet. We will always be grateful to Bellport Animal Hospital for taking care of us during our time of crisis.

They had good prices, and seemed like a decent vet so we switched to them. One horrible morning our young doberman pincher started behaving strangely. Her eyes started rolling around in her head she became very scared, and seemed blind, it looked like a seizure. We rushed to our new vet, they said they were fully booked, had no open appointments, if we wanted to be seen it would be an extra emergency fee cost, and we would have to wait. They did not care whatsoever that my dogs eyes were rolling around, something that has never happened before. Go to a vet that actually cares about your pets health. Good thing something wasnt dangerously wrong with her.

I cant say enough good things about Dr Troyan, Dr Cangro and all of the staff at the Bellport Animal Hospital. If you want a staff that is compassionate and extremely knowledgeable this is the place to go. I took my dog to about 5 different animal hospitals and a friend highly recommended Dr. Troyan to me...The second I met her I was instantly sold on her. I consider my dog to be "my child" and I entrusted them with her even through a MAJOR surgery and she is as good as new! Thank you EVERYONE at Bellport Animal Hospital :)

I brought my dog on an emergency basis (to me). Dr. Gilka listened attentively as I described my dogs behavior. He was very good with my animal and knew what to touch and when to stop so my dog did not experience any unnecessary pain or anxiety. The doctor described what would be done presently and what the future plans could be. All of the support staff were pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this facility to any friend. I am switching all of my pet care to this practice.

Been coming here for years, I bring my rabbit and cats here and the staff is great, both vets are awesome and when Bellport Animal Hospital closes for the night an EMR team comes for overnight critical care. Which is extremely convient cause when your pet is sick and it is an emergency the last thing you want to do is waste time trying to find somewhere to go. I highly recommend Bellport Animal Hospital.

Bellport Animal Hospital was recommended to me and Im glad I contacted them. I think my dog is pregnant am in panic mode. The nurse who answered the phone spent 10 minutes with me giving me information then had me speak directly to the vet. He then spent another 10 minutes explaining what to expect and how to proceed. How great is that? I will definitely use them for my vet! Thanks!
