Was here in June of 2013 and had the worst experience of any vet Ive ever had. We brought our dog in as she had been bitten by 2 ticks the day after we treated her with advantix +. We were concerned about lymes disease and took her in for this. Dr brownstein said the advantix was no good and treated her again with something else (even though we said we literally just gave it to her). I believe she also gave her a lyme disease vaccination. The charges came to over $200. After this point, our dog got very sick and lethargic and would not eat or drink any water. I was literally having to melt ice cubes in my hand to get her to lick the water to drink. She also started bleeding form her rectum. We rushed her back again at which point dr brownstein gave her a subcutaneous injection of saline solution to hydrate her. She also tested her for worms. being very concerned I also tried to read up on her symptoms online. When we brought her in I mentioned this, at which point dr brownstein got very angry and defensive quoting her book of medicine and degree from the 70s, and nothing I could have read on the internet would be true. I wasnt even trying to tell her how to do her job, I actually just asked her a question and she asked where i heard that. Telling her I read it online set her off. They told us we could take our dog home and they would call us with the results of the worm test (as they had to send it out) and we should monitor her and bring her back the next day. She then asked what we were going to do, and when we told dr borwnstein we might drive 2 hours home to see our family vet (my mom was co-director at an animal shelter), she changed her story. She told us that our dog wouldnt make it the 2 hour drive home and they needed to keep her overnight to monitor her which would cost $500. This was as we were getting ready to leave and they told us she was fine to go home. This naturally upset my girlfriend who the vet made cry, all because she heard her opportunity of more profit going to a different vet. After the clearly blatant lies for profit, I decided we would be leaving, at which point they charged us another $400 for that day. Admittedly our dog was better after the fluids slightly, but we still drove the 2 hours home to see our local vet. We got a call from henrietta animal hospital who told us that the test for worms came back negative. We went to our local trusted vet, who told us that dr brownstein overdosed our dog on flea and tick medicine and we needed to bathe her immediately. He also tested her for worms, which he did on the spot (said there should be no need to send results out), and confirmed she did in fact have worms. He also gave her an additional subcutaneous shot of fluids as she was again slightly dehydrated, worm treatment, and the visit which only cost us just over $100. I would not recommend anyone bring their pets to this vet. As others have said, they are out for profit, and are short to temper when anyone questions the all knowing dr brownstein. Our local vet said adding the additional flea/tick treatment was basically poisoning our dog. Please look elsewhere.

I brought my cat here a few months ago because she had vomited a couple times, and I was concerned she had developed some sort of reaction to her adult cat food. I went in expecting to be told that I needed to change her diet, and was met with a diagnosis of a blocked intestine. Automatically, the doctor told me I would need to get an xray on her to confirm the diagnosis. Without the opportunity to process this information, and no discussion of alternate treatments, I had a form shoved at me to sign for consent. I paid $700 for the procedure, only to be told that it was inconclusive and that I needed to have an ultrasound preformed, which was an additional $500 dollars. Being a college student, the $700 dollars I had already paid had pretty much wiped out my savings and my rent money for next month. I was in tears and heartbroken at the thought that I had no financial means to cure my companion. I had to decline the ultrasound and asked if there was anything I could do to help her be more comfortable. The vet told me that the only guaranteed way to fix the problem was to preform surgery, which ranges anywhere from $600 to over $1000. This was obviously nowhere in my budget. It wasnt until after I woefully told the vet that I couldnt afford the surgery that she gave me the alternate option of letting the blockage pass naturally. This was not mentioned until I had already forked over quite a bit more than I could afford, drugged my cat into a stupor, and endured an afternoon of bawling my eyes out to my poor mother. Not only was I uninformed of other options that were available to me, but IF I had been told that surgery was my "only option" prior to getting the xray, I would have declined because of financial reasons, and saved myself a boatload of money, AND saved my cat the trauma of being manhandled, poked with needles, and peeing all over herself because of the drugs that were pumped into her little furry body. Instead, I got to spend my rent money on a fuzzy picture of my cats intestines that I dont even get to keep to frame in my living room. My kitty ended up passing a hairball a few days later, painlessly and naturally. No thanks to the folks at Henrietta animal hospital. Although I will say the girl that is always at the front desk checking in patients is quite lovely. She was always polite, and very sensitive to the emotional time I was going through. She would be the only reason I would give this place one star instead of zero.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE... MY BF AND I JUST MOVED HERE FROM OUT OF STATE AND UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO BOARD OUR DOG FOR A FEW WEEKS. WE INITIALLY EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT WE HAD JUST MOVED HERE JUST GOT NEW JOBS AND DIDNT HAVE ALOT OF MONEY UNTIL WE GOT PAID. THEY TOLD US TO MAKE A SMALL PAYMENT WHEN WE BROUGHT HER IN AND THAT WE COULD PAY THE BILL WHEN WE PICKED HER UP. WE GET THERE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HAVE TO PAY FOR SHOTS AGAIN THAT SHE ALREADY HAD IN ARIZONA BUT BECAUSE IN ARIZONA YOU CAN BUY YOUR DOG VACCINATIONS AT THE PHARMACY AND DO IT YOURSELF, THEY DIDNT CARE SO $100 PLUS DOLLARS FOR THAT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE NEEDED A HEART MURMER TEST, WHICH WAS NEGATIVE, SO A CHARGE FOR THAT, OUR DOG HAS A SPECIAL DIET SO WE PROVIDED THE FOOD FOR HER AND MADE SURE SHE HAD HER TOYS, LEASH, COLLAR, HARNESS AND WE COME TO PLAY WITH HER AND TAKE HER OUT SO SHE IS NOT LOCKED UP ALL THE TIME. THEN THEY START CALLING US TO HARRASS US ABOUT MONEY AND ONCE AGAIN EXPLAIN TO THEM WHAT DAY WE GET PAID ON SO WE CAN MAKE A PAYMENT, THEN THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING, AND THE NEXT DAY SAME THING, THEN I FINALLY COME IN TO SEE MY DOG AND THE VET TAKES ME INTO A ROOM AND SHUTS THE DOOR AND STARTS YELLING AT ME, TELLING ME I NEED TO CALL FAMILY MEMBERS AND DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET HER SOME MONEY AND I TRIED EXPLAINING TO HER THAT MY BF WAS WORKING WITH HIS FAMILY TODAY SO HE COULD COME UP WITH SOME MONEY TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON MONDAY AND THAT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. SHE CONTINUED TO YELL AT ME AND KEEP ME CONFINED IN THIS ROOM TO THE POINT I WAS SO UPSET IN TEARS AND I DIDNT KNOW ANYONE BEING THAT I JUST MOVED HERE AND WHEN I DID GET OUT OF THE ROOM THEY STARTED TRYING TO KEP ME AT THE FRONT DESK AND WHEN I WOULD QUESTION WHO REGULATED THEM TO FILE A COMPLAINT THEY WOULD AVOID THE QUESTION, AND WHEN I ASKED IF THIS WAAS A SHOW TO KE ME FROM SEEING MY DOG THEY WOULD NOT ANSWER ME AND I HAD TO START THREATENING TO CALL THE COPS BEFORE THEY FINALLY LET ME SEE MY DOG. I ENDED UP LEAVING AND CALLING THE POLICE TO FIND OUT WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE AS I NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION OF NOT PAYING THESE PEOPLE AND THEY KNEW WHEN MY PAY DATES WERE BUT IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. SO RIGHT NOW IM TRYING TO DO ANYTHING I CAN TO GET A PAYMENT IN TO GET MY DOG AWAY FROM THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE.
