Note: My animals are not patients/clients of this establishment. I have no connection to this place, aside from the somewhat random event Ive written about below. I also know no one employed by this clinic. +++ This morning at about 7 a.m., my daughter and I were headed to work/school. Driving toward JC on Riverside Drive, we watched a big black cat dart from Dr. Hatala’s parking lot, into traffic, and like these scenes seem to unfold, as if in slow motion we saw this boy hit the rear wheel of a passing car. He was tossed on impact, rolled a few times, and in the middle of the road, moved a bit, still alive. We turned right at the next street after the lot, pulled in and I grabbed a blanket from the back. By the time I reached the cat, maybe a minute or two after he’d been hit, we believe he’d passed away. It was upsetting to see, especially since he looked just like our boy Shadow. We have three cats and a dog, all parts of the family for years now. My teen-aged daughter was emotional. We had no clue what to do, but thought we should probably leave the cat at the nearby veterinarian office – Binghamton Animal Clinic – located at 196 Riverside Drive. For the record, the two vets listed on the front door are Maureen McDonald, DVM, and Alicia Bocek, DVM. They were not open yet, but, we thought, probably the best place to leave this cat considering he might be from a nearby neighborhood, and just maybe someone would think to ask about him there. We left the poor guy wrapped in a comfortable blanket with a detailed two-page hand-written note. I left my name and cell number as well. Around 10:30, my daughter texted to see if I had spoken with anyone at this vet office. I hadn’t heard from them, but told her I’d call. The receptionist had no idea what I was talking about. Or it’s possible she did, but she did not seem to react at all, instead saying she would need to put me on hold. A minute passed. Then a woman who did not identify herself by name got on the phone. Immediately she said the following. It was her opener. "Yeah, were not going to charge you this time, but we dont do free cremations for animals here." Followed by silence. This time? What? "But you can pick your blanket up any time," she eventually added. I was able to muster a response. "OK." "Well, OK then,” she said. I eventually continued, though. "I have to tell you that Im a bit surprised by your somewhat cold and clinical reaction,” I said. “It was a pretty upsetting thing for my daughter and I to witness. No one stopped, and we thought we were doing the right thing.” I’d hoped she would redeem herself a bit. But she said this. "Well, we had some patients melting down at 9 oclock this morning when they saw a dead cat wrapped in a blanket. It was pretty upsetting for them to see a dead cat on the porch.” I paused. Then responded. "Ill stop by to pick up the blanket soon,” I told her. "OK. Bye,” she said.

This is one of the worst vets I have been to. Not only can they not treat your animals properly but they are very rude. I brought my cat in to get checked out. She was hissing and growling. They said they would not examine her if she would not calm down. I have never in my life heard this from a vet! Arent they supposed to know how to work with animals? Not only did I get complaints about my terrified cats behavior but they told me I had to hold her down. I was in disbelief. I could not believe a vet was telling me to hold her down so they wouldnt have to. After that horrific appointment I go home and see worms coming out of my cats butt. I dont understand how they missed that she had worms during the exam. Another time I went to pick up medicine like they told me to. The door was locked. I stood outside in the cold for 5 minutes while people in the waiting room stared at me. Someone finally came to the door. She came out, shut the door behind her and she had her arms crossed and nastily asked, "Can I help you?" I felt like an intruder at this vets office. I will never go here ever again

The first time I went here they were rude but theres a few sweet people, but today I call and told them I wont be out of work until 4:30, she consisted I come in cause my dogs mouth got infected how I dont know. So I go in and they tell me their closed, minding you its 4:30 still I left early to get there. I tell them, they told me to come in and she refused to see her. Im really annoyed, why tell me to come in and waste my time when her mouth is getting worse when I couldve scheduled to another vet where theyre not complete ass holes :)

The staff were very sweet, and very knowledgeable. The Vet was very courteous and encouraged that we let my cat feel at home. She caught a condition we hadnt even come in for and treated it promptly. She even told us how to care for the condition to prevent needing to pay for treatment again. She answered all my questions and soothed all my concerns. Safe to say that well be bringing all of our fur babies here in the future.

A+....I have been trying to trap an outdoor rescue cat for the past year that I feed and provide shelter for being he needs to be neutered. Well at last I got him yesterday at 9am and I brought him down to BAC and they took care of me that day. Cant thank them enough. I tried many others and they all needed an appointment (some weeks in advance). Vestal animal hospital wouldnt help me either. Thank you BAC

Dr Maureen, the vet techs and office staff who work with her, have been courteous, helpful and willing to take the time to provide wellness care as well as diagnose and treat health problems for our 4 current pets and one who is no longer with us. While the office isnt equipped for serious emergencies, I am comfortable useing and recommending the BAC on a regular basis.

Took my cat here 2 years ago because he was sick and I had no idea why. When they told me to put him down, I decided to decline and do my own research. My cat ended up having tape worms and 4 pills later for $6 from wal-mart did the trick. My cats still alive and pumping thanks to me not listening to their bad advice.

When we needed to put one of our cats to sleep, the staff was amazing. You could feel the compassion and understanding. They treated her with death with dignity and we were very impressed with the way they handled the whole event.

My dog gets frequent ear infections. The BAC makes it easy for me to bring him in as soon as I see a problem, instead of having to wait for an appointment at other clinics. The staff are always professional and helpful.
