I had been going to this Vet for two years now. Dr Sullivan and Dr Obermisser seem very nice. And they are for the most part. They seem to genuinely like animals however they like to add tests and tests and tests that you dont really need and visit ends up being 500 for something really simple. Beware of the wolf in sheeps clothing. So my bad experience: . 2 misdiagnosis. $2000 in fees for the misdiagnosis. And ultimately the dog had to be put to sleep. My dog wouldnt eat and had mouth pain. He lost 13 lbs in a month. They told me that the dog needed a dental cleaning and some extractions. This would solve the pain The cost was about $1200. They offered to take off a fatty deposit for an extra 250 bucks I said yes They anesthitized the dog, cleaned his teeth, but decided that all of the teeth were bad and they decided not to pull any. The fatty deposit was removed with no problem. So I paid over 1000 bucks for a recommended tooth extraction that never happenned. The problem was not solved so back I go. They now say that my dog has a salivary gland infection. So they gave me antibiotics. A week goes by and that did nothing. When both diagnosis were wrong, I was upset because they did not solve the problem. my dog was in pain and wtih tests dental etc I was out 2000 bucks. I lost my temper with them because i was out 2000 bucks and the dog was still in pain and getting worse not better. I finally went to the emergency. specialist vet. They did some tests. My dog had cancer of the lymph nodes. And in a month lost 13 lbs and had to be put to sleep. Ive had my dog over 13 years and of course i was devastated. I asked Uptown Vets to put him to sleep. They wanted over $400 for this. I said can you please match the price for a little more than the ASPCA which was 175? I even offered $225. I had to go the ASPCA They sent me a heartfelt condolesence card BUT 2 months go by: I called them to answer a question about a pet I was thinking of adopting from the animal shelter and James (who I never met) told me that they wanted me to use another vet because I lost my temper in their office Between misdiagnosing, overcharging and just plain disgusting behavior, I would go elsewhere. And even one of their techs told me they like to charge for things that the dog doesnt really need. They are a business first and a doctor second,.

BEST VET IN THA HOOD! I cant say enough about Dr. Obernesser, Dr. Sullivan, and the entire staff at Uptown Vets. Short version: THEY ARE AMAZING. CARING. THOUGHTFUL. SINCERE & REASONABLE. Long version: The other day my dog wasnt acting right after a 6 mile schlep thru Central Park. I watched him for awhile at home, took some videos of him just in case i needed to show what was wrong & had a really bad feeling. My dog is also 60lbs & i live on the 5th floor of a 5 floor walk-up. basically i wanted to walk him over to the vet before i felt like god-forbid hed collapse cause theres no way im carrying him. Long story short we get there & I just ask to sit in the waiting room for awhile because I feel safer there in the event that anything should happen. Without hesitation, Dr. Obernesser comes over, asks whats wrong, and immediately checks on my dog. Feels him up, looks in his mouth & reassures me that I can go home and in the event that his condition stays the same come back before they close...i left feeling better that at least i didnt kill my dog....instead of going back later that afternoon called up & made an appointment for a thorough exam just to really know what was going on. Tues we went to see Dr. Obernesser, Kircher got a full once over and was prescribed anti-inflammatory & one other Rx. i honestly thought it was going to cost me a fortune. like ill be living on PBJ break whats left of bank kind of expensive BUT NO. Paid for the visit and Rx but more importantly the feeling of knowing that this is place where they CARE FIRST and take the treatment in phases and reasonable steps. This is truly a neighborhood vet where the staff cares about not only your pet but you too. I cant say enough great things about uptown vets. 5 years of taking care of the king of the couch aka my dog and I couldnt be happier. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

WARNING: I hold Uptown Veterinary Associate responsible for my pets suffering until the day she passed. Doctor Obernesser can be lovely and charming as long as you dont question her or get a second opinion. My pet went through tremendous suffering due to the nonchalant care from Doctor Obernesser, she could not even take a minute to call me back in person but would instead communicate through her receptionist. The week before my pet passed I urgently needed to speak with a doctor, I was told Doctor Obernesser had left for the day but Doctor Sullivan would call me back. This call never came. Instead I was lucky to find Doctor Kiani at Harlem Animal Hospital but still, it was too late for my beloved pet. Doctor Kiani did absolutely EVERYTHING possible to save my pets life but unfortunately her illness had gone too far. If Doctor Obernesser would have taken a few minutes to actually LISTEN to what was going on with my pet she might have been saved, instead she kept prescribing overpriced medications which just worsened her condition. My heart is shattered after loosing my baby and I would not want anyone to go through what I went through with Uptown Pets.

Weve taken our three cats to Uptown Vets for the last two years and we couldnt be happier with the care theyve received. All the techs are capable and caring, and you really get the sense that everyone there treats your pets like theyre part of their own family. The entire team at Uptown Vets is stellar. Drs. Obernesser and Sullivan are deeply compassionate and always strive to do whats best for your pets. They are easy to talk to and spend the time with you that you need to understand all your options and details of any treatment. They are understanding and pragmatic in balancing the pros and cons when dealing with difficult care decisions, and have helped us through a series of care decisions with our beloved older cat. Were very grateful to the entire team for the care theyve provided to her and to our younger two cats as well. I recommend the practice to any pet owners in the area (or even a little farther away - we travel down from Washington Heights and its well worth the trip!).

There is no other place I would take my service dog in training. Service dogs cost, on average, around $20,000 to train before they are ready to go to a client. A dog that cost that much money we cannot take a gamble on sub-standard care. Uptown vets always goes above and beyond for the dogs I have brought there. They always follow up after appointments to check in on them and take great care in not only treating illnesses when they come up but also preventing so many more. Their regime of care and vaccinations keep you on top of what is needed and their online pet records portal, in concert with reminder emails, always helps you make sure that your pet is up to date on everything. If you are looking for a place to bring your pet, look no further. You become part of a great family, where they truly do care about your pet. At Uptown Vets you have a great partner in helping get as many years with your pet as possible and together, you can rest assured, you will. A+
