We ABSOLUTELY love Dr. Star. We have a french bulldog puppy who gets so excited when you go to him. Speaking from a dogs point of view , he is fantastic with them! My dog is so comfortable with him and I believe it truly is because he knows how much he loves dogs. They NEVER have pushed anything on us, and by that I mean products or procedures. He always answers my questions and educates us on what he thinks is best for our pup. Although, in the end leaves it up to us to decide what we want to do. He has a very laid back behavior, and never yelled at us for thinking a certain way. Im sure though if you were really treating the animal wrong that would be different just because I can tell he really does care. He has a 24 hr emergency line that we have actually used once and it was one am on a Saturday , in which he answered immediately . He never was mad that we called , never gave the impression that we bothered him and he even called back the next morning to check up. Lastly , his staff deserves just as much praise . The girls that work there either at the desk or with the vet are amazing. Always always so kind and helpful , you can tell they love what they do as well. 100% I would recommend him hes a great choice to check out.

After reading these reviews I was compelled to post my experience with St. James Animal Hospital. First let me say this if your a pet owner and you arent aware that they are lives that come with a anticipated cost of care then you entered into it without doing YOUR homework, dont blame a business who was not involved in your decision making process to become a pet owner. With that out the way having purchased my baby Bonsai from Shake a Paw and following up here was a better experience than anticipated. Yes my puppy needed some measures of intervention but Dr. Star and his staff made every visit pleasant for me. Just as we raise our children and will experience bumps on their growing pains, it is a relief to know I have vet services to cushion the blows. My German Shepherd pup has made great strides under St. James let no ill intention of a review deter you. Im one of the MOST skeptical consumers there is and I have nothing negative to say about this hospital. Thank you Dr. Star and St. James

Terrible Animal hospital. As mentioned earlier, it partners with local pet stores to have first visit free. Then you make a next appointment and when you go in, they do not go over the fees. They just take you in and the doctor does more talking than doing. After you are done, you come out and they charge you for things that you did not want. I also requested to talk to the manger, and she didnt have the courtesy to come outside and talk to me (IMO very rude). Also they list the open hours, and then you call them and say "we are closing". tldr: they charge you for unnecessary things without going over the cost with you. They close well before the listed operation hours. also, the manager does not care about you at all.. they say they do. would never go there ever again. There are way cheaper options which are better than this.

I completely agree with the comment below, I am a first time puppy owner and on my first visit I expected to get a lot of information I didnt know; that did not happen. He has mediocre answers for very important questions. I also bought my dog from American Dog Company I called and asked to be switched to another vet and I was sent to Animal Wellness Center in Huntington Station; GREAT Place! Do not take your pets there its useless. I felt very disappointed leaving there. Not to mention I thought my dog was developing a cough and I told the vet he said he looked fine the next morning my puppy woke up with green snot and very sick I took him to American Wellness Center and they treated him right away.

This animal hospital and American Dog Club(ADC) are linked together for money. Bought a dog from the ADC about two weeks ago and he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. Before I picked him up to go home I specifically requested that he was checked. They told me that he was "HEALTHY". Last two appointments ive seen a few people who bought their dogs there as well and there dogs with ear mites and kennel coug. Idk whats going on but rings Bells of SCAMM!! Not happy with these ppl at all. Choose wisely people ! 5 year warrenty sounds fishy

Im new to the area and I brought my dog to St james Animal Hospital for a skin rash. From the second I walked through the door I was treated with respect and compassion. Dr Star explained everything to me in great detail and he took the time to answer all of my questions. Happily the rash has cleared with treatment. The staff was a pleasure to work with. I would reccomend them to anybody.

Dr. Starr is extremely knowledgeable, patient and empathetic. I am one of those annoyingly doting pet owners that asks a ton of questions, and Dr. Starr seems completely unfazed and takes the time to put my mind at ease. The staff is extremely attentive, well-organized and friendly. Big props to everyone at St. James Animal Hospital. And...my Victorian Bulldog loves the cat treats =)

Everyone is so caring . You know your pet is in great hands. I have been going to Dr. Starr with my pet Skippy for over seven years now. He is very concerned for my dogs well being. Whenever skippy is sick, he explains what the problem is and what may be causing it.He always follows up with a call the next day.Skippy is a very happy and healthy dog, thanks to the doctor.

My dog Buddy a Boston has been going to Dr Star from a puppy Dr Star helped him when he had a very bad cough. It is just a little to far for me to drive with traffic and bad weather so I had to find an other Vet closer. I hope only they are as good as St James and Dr Star was for my dog. The ladies who work in the office are the best Love the place hate leaving

They dont care about your pet, and so unprofessional. My cat doesnt eat, and breath so heavy, but the doctor said he looks fine, everything is normal, and threw me a $730 bills for a lot unnecessary tests, like AIDS and leukemia, which just did one month ago. Then I went to another vet, they told me my cat might got FIP, then they only did the test for that.

Going to Saint James animal hospital was honestly one of the best choices I could ever make. Not only is the staff amazing, and sweet to your loving pet, but the truly take the time to help you understand what your pet needs. You can simply feel that they truly care about their job.

Never in my life would I go to this place again. My wife brought our 2 yr old dog there for a urinary track infection and left with a 853.89 bill. And the craziest thing about it is they did not even do the proper test to diagnose a urinary track infection.
