I came to this place because of the ratings that I saw. Yes, its true, the staff is really nice and friendly. But I will never ever return here and I hope none of you do either - my dog has an autoimmune disease (a very serious condition that needed to be taken care of immediately). When I went to the office, the vet did not run any tests and told me that his symptoms are a result of an allergic reaction. Im not even a vet and I know that when there is a skin lesion, the first thing to do is a skin test on the said skin lesion. The vet was so confident in herself that she thought she could guess the diagnosis without running a test ... I believed the vet (Dr. Longo), because what was I supposed to do? She prescribed medication and an ACID WASH (!!!) for my dogs face without doing a cytology to truly test what was wrong with him. Upon his symptoms getting much worse, I returned to them, only for them to run a blood test and tell me that they dont know what it is, and to keep watching him. Four days later my dog was unresponsive. He couldnt walk and his face was covered with lesions. I took him to a different clinic because I did not trust their opinion. The other vet, at the Lafayette Veterinary Clinic took one look at him and knew immediately what his disorder was. He said there are five symptoms that are textbook definition of the disorder and hes very surprised that the two vets that saw him 100% failed to recognize them. He actually called the practice to give them some hints on how to recognize the disorder next time since they really had no idea. Now my dog is 7 months old and still suffering from the symptoms of a late diagnosis and has scarring on his face that will never go away. Stupid me went back there last month to pick up antibiotics as I didnt want to drive all the way to Lafayette, and Longo looked at Jack saying "OH no hes so swollen!" I actually started laughing out loud because he was not at all... he hasnt looked this good in months. She started telling me that shes been working for years but is unfamiliar with his condition and thats why she said that. If youre unfamiliar with something, why do you agree to treat the animal? I really dont think she has any idea what shes talking about and neither do the other vets there. Its scary to think that they failed so terribly at a rarer diagnosis. I was not going to post this review, but I care about animals and this is not the place to go if you want your animal to be healthy. I lost alll belief in any credibility of their practice.

I took my 15 year old Daschund here for the first time on July 13. We just could not figure out what was wrong with her. She has cataracts and arthritis in her hind legs an thought it was related to that. After 2 days of her just lying in her bed and not eating hardly any food and drinking even less I decided along with my wife to take her here early Sunday morning. It was a little before 8AM and we were taken in to an exam room within minutes. After the preliminary exam of weight, tempurture and observing her walking around the doctor came in. Wishing minutes after a thought exempt was determined that COCO had a sprained neck probably from walking/running into furniture due her poor vision. She was given some additional tests which came bak negative COCO was given something for the pain and an anti inflammatory. Within 2 days she was back to her normal self walking around looking for treats and well just being COCO!Im so thankful of the staff here and will most definitely be bringing COCO back for her future checkups. This place is kind, understanding and comforting veteran practice that provides the type of care I want my dog and family member to be subjected too. We will be back as needed and Im pretty sure COCO is happy as well

You do not even deserve 1 star. I never in my life after being a dog owner for over 20 years experienced such a horrible service. Your Dr.s seem to make a verbal diagnosis such as your dog has kennel cough and pneumonia. Then your Dr.s recommend hospitalization that cost over $1,000 and explain if you do not agree to that service your dogs medical condition can get worst and even fatal. Then i ask if you have a payment plan being i can not afford the $1,000 and i want to help my dog stay alive and you tell me sorry no payment plans all services must be paid in full either by cash or credit. Then I ask your staff of Dr.s for a letter to put their medical opinion in writing and they refuse to do so or want to change their diagnosis to a less serious condition now that your Dr.s know it is in writing. My other dog who i love with all of my heart died while under your care. The worst and most horrible part is your staff knows my wife has stage 4 breast cancer and still are putting my family through this disgraceful money making scheme in my opinion. I am never coming back and making sure everyone i know who is a pet owner in our community to STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

Our dog Peanut became a patient at Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital in September 2011, she came in for her annual check-up and I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the office and the state of the art equipment. Dr. Meleleo and the vet tech staff are equally amazing, they are gentle, and patient with nervous owners and most importantly Peanut is always happy to see them. In late February peanut started acting funny and ended up being diagnosed with diabetes. We could not be happier with the care and attention Dr. Meleleo and his team provide. From one on one education about delivering insulin shots and obtaining blood glucose readings to simple diet advice Dr. Meleleo makes every effort to be available to us, by phone or email. Additionally the online pet portal is great for tracking vaccinations, etc. If you are looking for a fantastic and caring Vet for your pet, you have come to the right place, you will not be disappointed.

I am a big fan of Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital. I have a fourteen year old yorkie that had horrible teeth. Dr. Meleleo had told me that if he did a dental on her and pulled out the bad teeth....that she may have a much better quality of life. I went ahead with the procedure after Dr. Meleleo did many tests to make sure she could withstand the surgery ....as I was very afraid of having her put under anesthesia... I am so happy to say that my Molly is running...jumping and playing like she is a young puppy! She eats twice as much as before and I swear she has gained two pounds since the surgery. I also wish to mention that Dr. Meleleo has a warm wonderful caring staff. Francis..........is so awesome........Thank-You everyone at Pleasant Plains from Molly and Me!!!!!!!!

Dr. Meleleos facility is a pleasure to go to. The facility is beautiful and clean and i know this is a weird thing to like, but i love that theres a watercooler available for people waiting and a great tv. They are very organized and Ive never had to wait long to see the doctor. I dont know alot about animal care, but Dr. Meleleo is very generous with his knowledge and honestly is so informative about how you should take care of your pet. Their private examination rooms are awesome. Prices are reasonable, and I would totally pay more for their services, because I know Im getting proper and thorough care for my cat. They also have tons of great discounts and deals throughout the year. Bring your kitties and doggies to this place. Completely worth it.
