Since laser hair removal is a somewhat opaque process, Ill try to lay out the essentials below. Pricing: I have never, ever encountered one of these places that puts a price list on their website -- you usually have to make an appointment for a "free consultation," which basically amounts to "fill out a ton of paperwork, waste an hour out of your life, and well tell you the prices." So let me tell you, the fact that Tuscaloosa MedSpa *has a price list on their website* is amazing. You can get pretty much any body part done, with most prices running $150/$300 for smaller/larger areas. Note that the prices are per session, so do the math based on the recommended 3-6 sessions. But seriously, being able to know *in advance* how much this is going to cost -- priceless. Specials: Also, like most medspa-ish places, they run seasonal specials and offer various discounts. There is a standing 10% off student discount, and as part of their holiday specials, I purchased a "gift card" for myself (they just credited my account) for 20% off. Location: They are in "Suite C," which is actually a completely separate building at the back of the parking lot of that address. Just look for the Crimson Village retirement community and then a black awning on the corner of the building with their name on it. It was confusing the first time, but no big deal once you figure it out. Scheduling: For full results, you need 3-6 treatments on a given area. Some areas you can do every 4-6 weeks, others 10-12 -- theyll tell you what interval to wait. But nothings carved in stone; you can schedule according to whats convenient/affordable. Treatment: I gotta be honest, I had no clue what to expect. The laser is not as finely targeted as electrolysis (where they tweeze one hair at a time and then zap it), but its not super broad spectrum, wave it over you and youre done, either. Its more of a steady, one little bit at a time kind of thing. Underarms have taken just a few minutes each, but I just got my upper legs done and it took about an hour (with a break for some more numbing cream to kick in). Laser treatment sounds kind of techy and futuristic, and theres a sign on the door warning about it, but pre-cautions are actually really mundane -- like, they give you sunglasses to wear during the treatment. Pain: They will offer to call in a lidocaine (numbing) cream to your pharmacy. Take them up on that!!! It comes in generic, so its not super expensive, and it will really make a difference in your comfort level. I am an idiot, so I tried my first treatment with just ice packs (provided) -- not the smartest idea. As far as what the actual laser feels like, apparently it depends on your sensitivity and amount of numbing cream applied. It has variously felt like pretty much nothing, to tiny zaps of static electricity, to like a needle being dragged across my skin. I dont have any tattoos, but I imagine maybe this feels similar. Atmosphere: Its a spa, so instead of a waiting room they have a "relaxation room." Theyre happy to offer water, coffee, etc., and the surroundings are much less sterile than a regular medical office. But the ladies wear scrubs, so it feels reassuringly official. Staff: Theyve been great! Super friendly, helpful, happy to answer questions. Theyve definitely made me feel comfortable, which is great, since laser hair removal isnt exactly a really fun thing, at the end of the day. Results: I know, I know, the most important part -- does it work?! So far for me, the answer is a resounding yes. Ive seen significant reduction and shaving is now a now and again thing. However, keep in mind that Im pretty much the ideal candidate for laser, since I have very light skin and dark hair. So all (all!) that being said, I am super happy with my experience thus far, and I will coming back here until I am 100% hair-free (at least, the places where I want to be...)!

Tuscaloosa Med Spa was the best spa I have been to in a very long time! I had an amazing experience all together. My results were absolutely remarkable, I am confused with the rest of these reviews because my laser hair reduction was flawless and I have been back several times. All of which have never left me with any scars or burns. People sometimes get burned if they dont treat the skin properly following the treatment. I will continue to go to this spa and support it as much as I can because I needed this treatment and they did a FABULOUS job! Thank you Tuscaloosa Med Spa!!

DO NOT GET LASER TATTOO REMOVAL. I was told it would take up to 5 treatments to remove my tattoo. After treatment number 7, my tattoo had barely faded, and I decided to go elsewhere in Birmingham. Also, I NEVER saw the Dr. a single time, and I have light scarring from the laser at Tuscaloosa Med Spa. The place in Birmingham had a much higher quality laser, and my tattoo is almost gone after only 3 treatments. Several other friends mentioned they had the same experience here, and there are lawsuits pending from other women in Tuscaloosa.

I've attended Tuscaloosa Med spa for over a year for microderm and blueberry smoothie chemical peel. I am an African- American female with very oily, acne prone skin and also suffered from hyperpigmentation. I was nervous considering I am a woman of color, meaning that my skin is more sensitive due to the amount of melanin in my skin, but I did not experience any adverse affects. My skin is smooth, even, and I experience less breakouts. I have recommended Tuscaloosa Med Spa to my family and friends.

I am thrilled with the treatment I have received for laser hair removal. For many, many years I have suffered from self-consciousness of having dark hair in places that were unwanted. After 3 treatments, I am seeing awesome results. I will continue the process and then plan to have some fillers. Now, it does sting a bit, but well worth 5 minutes of discomfort to rid a lifetime of worry.

I absolutely LOVE Tuscaloosa Med Spa! The staff there always goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and informed. My treatment of choice is the IPL photo facials. The photo facial doesnt take long and the results are AMAZING!! This treatment is great for sun spots and the overall appearance of your skin. I would and do recommend Tuscaloosa Med Spa.

I recently completed a series of CoolSculpting treatments, and everyone involved was fantastic. Its been just two weeks, and I already see results. I recommend Tuscaloosa Med Spa and Dr. P to anyone & everyone!

Stay away !!!!!! From this place, the so called employee that preforms laser treatments SUCKS !! And the only reason she still has a job is because she and sleeps ( hint hint ) with Dr P who owns it , so she may be SUNNY at some Jobs just not Spa ones !!!!!!!!! The only reason of 1 star is because of the Hot Receptionist

Do not go to this place for laser hair reduction. I went there and ended up suffering with 2nd degree burns and now scars. All they have to say about my ugly scars is to try to tan them where they are less noticeable. I wish I wouldn't have listened to the below review which convinced me to go.
