My puppy had played a little too hard one evening and mangled his toenail. We bandaged it for the night and called our vet the next morning for an appointment, but they were booked up for the day and could only take him as a drop-off patient. I didnt want to do that, because he has always been afraid of the vets office and I thought this wouldnt help his fear. I called Deer Creek Animal Hospital to see if they had any openings. They could get Satchmo to see Dr. Khunkhun (Dr. K) in just an hour! I arrived a few minutes early to fill out paperwork and to give Satch time to do his normal "army-crawl" entrance into the facility that he has done with our previous vet. Much to my surprise he walked in, tail wagging, greeting everyone there without any evidence of fear! The staff in the front were very pleasant to both me and my dog and helpful. Our wait time was less than 10 minutes before we were given a room and even then my dog was not afraid. The vet tech came in to get more information and to check Satch out. He was thorough and pleasant. After a short wait, Dr. K came in to examine Satchmo and tell me her recommendation for treatment. She recommended that he be given medication to put him in twilight, so the pain wouldnt be so traumatic and his attitude toward people working with his feet wouldnt be jaded or change. She said they could do it without anesthesia and save a significant amount of money, but he would have a more difficult time of the surgery and perhaps a longer recovery. Never did she use guilt or shame to influence my decision--I felt completely informed and free to make whatever choice I needed. I did choose twilight and I had to leave him there for a couple of hours while they took his nail. When I came back, his paw was wrapped and the tech went over the procedure for wrapping with me, like Dr. K had done earlier. (She said if we were comfortable with wrapping it, we wouldnt have to come back in, so I opted for that.) Satch was in good spirits and still loved the facility and all who were there. He was prescribed two meds and Dr. K said I could get them filled at WalMart on the $4 list. My last vet never told me I could go to a regular pharmacy for meds! What a savings this was! (In all fairness, perhaps the meds that had been prescribed before werent as affordable at WalMart or other pharmacies, so that was why I wasnt informed.) A few days later, Satch chewed through his bandages, even with the bitter apple spray treatments, so we called Deer Creek Animal Hospital again. Dr. K had us come back in and she would check his nail out at no charge. Again, Satchmo was totally at ease and happy to be there--no fear at all! Dr. K proclaimed his nail healed enough to keep the bandages off--we just needed to watch it to make sure he didnt injure it again while it was so new. Long story short...we have found a new vet and office! We love Dr. K and the facility is beautiful! Very clean and open areas that are inviting to animals and people alike. I was sold on it at once when my dog walked right in, with eager anticipation, needing no coaxing or treats. The bill was also reasonable for the services provided and all of the staff were phenomenal. I am so thankful our previous vet was booked, otherwise we would have never found Dr. K and visited Deer Creek Animal Hospital!

After relocating from the east coast, I found Deer Creek Animal Hospital via referral from a friend who had taken her two dogs there when she lived near their office. From the start, Ive been pleased with both the veterinary care and the grooming services. The prices are reasonable, the vets and techs take their time in speaking with you, there doesnt seem to be a huge effort to "upsell" as I experienced a lot in the Washington, D.C. area, and they always call to follow up after any medical-related visit. Initially, I was taking only my then 14-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix to their office for check-ups, but then I got a Labradoodle puppy in July 2015. He turned out to have a nasty parasite that traveled to my older dog and Deer Creek Animal Hospital did a great job of diagnosing the issue quickly and prescribing medication to rid both dogs of the parasite. They always listened to my concerns and thoroughly answered all my questions. Over the course of the last two months, Ive also begun using their daycare services 4-5 days/week for my younger dog (a now almost 1-year-old Labradoodle). To me, the real testament regarding the way the dogs are handled for daycare is the fact that my dog practically drags me through the side door each morning when I drop him off. If he wasnt being cared for properly or was suffering in harsh conditions as some have alluded to in their reviews, I sincerely doubt hed be so anxious to be dropped off each morning. Ive also spoken with many other customers there who regularly use Deer Creek for daycare and have been very pleased with their services. Recently, I toured a portion of the facility as I will need to board my Labradoodle for ~ a week. While there was understandably a lot of noise in the cage area (dogs obviously get excited when someone new is strolling through their territory), I found both the boarding areas and outdoor daycare areas to be very clean. While I hate to leave my pup for any amount of time, I feel better all day knowing hes in the hands of people who all know his name (and have a little fun with his unfortunate first name/last name combination, often calling him "Hah-pa Pah-ka" - Harper Parker with a Boston accent) and seem genuinely happy to see him each morning. In the one instance where there was an incident at daycare (Harper was a bit of a klutz and turned his head too quickly away from another dog, smacking his nose into the side of the building), they called me promptly to notify me of the occurrence and then talked to me and patiently answered my "worried mom" questions when I arrived to pick him up. Without hesitation, I would recommend Deer Creek Animal Hospital for veterinary care, grooming, daycare and boarding services.

I have been a huge fan of Dr Higgins for many years and always boarded our Cavaliers with the staff to include dog daycare when out of town. We have a new dog now. Thinking the daycare was the same, I quickly became uneasy when all the dogs were out in small enclosures without "a controlled environment" as supervised. We saw only one staff for about 50-60 dogs. Dogs were grouped based on size and whether they had been neutered or were too aggressive to play with others. I left my dog there for 3 hours. She seemed alright but drank 2 full bowls of water immediately when she got home. I called back to express my concerns, but still was not feeling my dog was safe there. I checked out Camp Bow Wow. Great place and and a free phone app allows you to see your dog anytime. They play inside with techs 1:20 ratio. All dogs must take a 15 minute exam to see if their behavior is suitable to play with others and you must leave them there 3 hours thereafter to be supervised. It is free. The daycare price is similar but they have extended times available. Also, they insist that if they feed your dog they must rest a time after eating. They have open areas outside so the dogs may go out freely (unlike Deer Creek) to relieve themselves instead of dogs walking around in other dogs doodoo. Although there were 5 or 6 dogs inside being supervised at Deer Creek, the hospital appears not to be equipped to have all these dogs in air conditioning. My dog is not acclimated to 100+ degrees outside mister, shade, awning or not. Dr Higgins is expanding her business to include selling eggs, honey and goat yogurt. Per staff she comes to the hospital twice a week. I congratulate her on being a new entrepreneur but feel the hospital daycare is substandard now. Her pamphlet advertises behavior issues addressed with daycare. That is false and misleading. It may be creating issues. Please research it yourself if you care about your dog. The staff are very nice and helpful as always. I would have given it 0 stars. My score reflects the daycare portion only. I hope things improve after my review. I feel for all those dogs in the heat walking around in dirt and doodoo and need someone to speak for them. I wish Dr Higgins the best, you are a great vet and hope you attend to this matter.
