I have been going to Lookout Mountain Veterinary Clinic since 1988. I have taken many of my own cats, a few strays, and even a dog or two, there. I highly recommend this clinic. My cats have almost always been seen by Dr. Cook. He is a great vet and, when needed, not a bad human psychiatrist either! Dr. Cook’s veterinary skills have improved and extended the lives of my cats. One of those cats, Demon, lived to just 3 months shy of 21! Dr. Cook always takes as long as he needs to explain the medical situation and to help you to decide on an action plan. He takes account of the big picture – the animal’s current medical condition and age, the money involved, and the likely outcome of taking a particular course of action. He discourages you from wasting time, effort, or money on unnecessary diagnostic procedures. Eventually if you are conflicted enough about what to do for long enough, Dr. Cook will say, “If it were my cat I would. . .” His suggestions are always spot on. Another thing I appreciate is that he will tell you if there is another vet that might be better suited to help with a particular situation. He is also willing to tell you if he doesn’t know something right off the bat. I haven’t had as much experience with Dr. Schure but he is also an excellent vet. One of my cats, Emeril, has had a lifetime of digestive issues. He recently became quite emaciated and I had just about resigned myself to the inevitable. I decided to give it one more try, and to get a fresh perspective on him from Dr. Schure. He was able to make a couple new suggestions. Those suggestions, and a little more fine-tuning with Dr. Cook, brought Emeril back to good health. I’ve had only one encounter with Dr. Gulinson but that too was very positive. When Emeril was still struggling and neither Dr. Cook nor Dr. Schure was available, she went out of her way to talk with me on the phone and help me through the crisis. The staff at Lookout Mountain is excellent. They are kind, responsive, caring, and extremely competent. I have to give a special mention to Linda who has been at the clinic since the year before I started going there. More than once Linda has gone the extra mile for me. I’m extremely grateful for everything the staff of Lookout Mountain Veterinary Clinic has done for my many cats, and for me, for over a quarter of a century!

I had a great experience today with this clinic. My dog had an allergic reaction to something. His face swelled and his breathing became extremely labored. I put him in the car and was rushing to the vet when I remembered this clinic was right in my neighborhood. I turned in, rushed in like a crazy woman, they took my dog, were very kind to me, took care of us, made sure he was not having an anaphylactic reaction. Treated him and did not charge me an arm and a leg! Both the staff and the vet were kind, caring, and competent. I will be coming back here!

Dr. Jeff and all the staff are incredibly kind, thorough and professional. They care an enormous amount for animals and go the extra mile. My 17yo kitty needed her back teeth out and the care they showed her was amazing; follow up calls, extra boarding "just in case" and they remembered to ask about her the next time I was in with my 2 dogs. One dog has had a surgery there and I experienced the same caring, professional treatment. Dont go anywhere else!

Lookout Mountain is the first clinic out of 5 that actually checked my entire dogs body during her first visit. I saw Adam Schure and Lisa Gulinson and both have been great. I havent met with Jeff Cook yet but I think I will the next time just so I know him. They are informed and knowledgeable and the staff is very cordial. I would definitely recommend them.
