I came in one night after my baby accidentally swallowed an object. I was afraid it might have been a coin battery that popped out of her big sisters toys. Knowing the risk (acid burns, esophagus erosion, etc). I quickly buckled my baby in, raced over to PIMC, ran in, and my baby threw up on the floor in front of the glass window. People allowed me to cut in line after seeing THIS. I cried and explain to the nurse on the other side of the glass that my baby was crying all the way over because she swallowed an object that had now become lodged in her throat and is in pain. The idiot nurse, Barb, looked at me blankly and annoyed and said "Well, is she blue?"!!! The room was silent, people were looking at her. I again explained, through tears, what happened and this heartless nurse carelessly says "I need you to fill this paper out first" !! People were disgusted by her careless response. Then Barb the Heartless Nurse turns around annoyed and (w/her monotoned voice) says to a nurse "Can we take her in now?" I COULDNT BELIEVE THIS WOMAN!!! A nurse behind Heartless Barb, after hearing everything, quickly gets up and says "Ill take her" and came to my aid. Jeniffer (or maybe Jessica) you were wonderful and so kind. You saw the fear in me, a distraught mother. Thank you!! Heartless Barb shouldnt be up front assisting emergencies!! I dont know what her issue was but anyone, after seeing a mother and 1 year old in distress, would have taken immediate action. She just had no compassion and I couldnt believe this sort of person interacted with people in emergency situations. *All the other nurses were wonderful. My baby is well. No serious harm. I know it could have been worst. If your a mother you know accidents happen especially with curious little babies. Im not a perfect parent...who is anyways? But I did everything that night to help my baby. Im just disappointed that I experienced this at PIMC.

For low-cost (for those who use their insurance) to no-cost, youre given what seems like basic healthcare. I agree that many of the staff can be rude and impatient (just like some patients themselves), but remember WHO is giving out the care and doing the diagnosing.... Whats sad is that its almost a given that many (not ALL) Natives are rude, impatient, and dont really go above and beyond whats expected of them, but most Natives in the IHS system are not the doctors treating people or diagnosing their meds (sometimes MIS-diagnosing and RE-diagnosing). Lines in Express Care can be long and to even be seen in the ER is a joke, with wait times as long as 12 hours!! I have insurance, but I DO go to IHS for care, but have had emergency situations where I couldnt wait any longer and went to an Urgent Care facility instead. Thats not always the case for those without the funds to do that. I can grin and bear it sometimes, but youd think those that work there (staff people) would be more grateful that they even HAVE a job, and pass that service onto to those they serve. Thats a joke too!

Describe my experience at PIMC...If I could give it a "no star" Id would. I just moved to Phoenix and I am a native blood. I heard of PIMC how bad the services they provide but I never been to the place so I couldnt judge. I did come to the PIMCs ER for abdominal pain on a Friday 8:45PM, did my insurance application in time, waited, then waited and kept on waiting I ask the front desk person how long is the wait but the person was very rude and says, their backed up and told me to sit. Well I didnt get seen until 10:30AM the next morning - thats just disgusting. When I did get called to be seen, unbelievable. The Staffs attitude in customer services, OMG, it is horrible! When I was able to see the doctor, it took them 20 mins then told me to make an appt with a provider and out the door. So 13 hours to wait and 20 mins to be seen. Hmmm id say horrible experience and their service is horrible. They need to be accountable not the patients fault. PIMCs customer services is very horrible. Today, I go to Gila River, Id drive a distance for better services and customer services.

i would highly reccomend you do not attend this hospital only if your dying. on second thought dont even go to this hospital if your dying because youll probably still have to be in the waiting room. this hospital is the worst ever. you have to wait approximately 8 or tem hours just to be check in a room. then wait another hour to actually be seen by a doctor. the entire facility is filthy. the bathrooms are gross and the toilets are not flushed. they are filled up to the bowl with other peoples stools. there is urine all over the place. there is graffiti all over the walls. now the employees there are so rude. you ask a question and they give you a rude response and they have bad attitudes towards the patients. i once asked the man in the emergency how long is the wait and he replied "well weve had patients in here since two, so go figure it out" i was so mad. i wanted to hit him dead in the face. but i reamained calm and walked away. the bottom line is this hospital sucks. and sorry if i offended anyone but i really dont care its the truth.

I love the Womens Clinic at PIMC, I chose to have my kids here over a number of other hospitals much closer to where I live in Gilbert. The Clinic has 10 midwives on staff, a benefits coordinator on-site, a nutritionist on-site, very qualified, kind, and encouraging lactation specialists and they all offer a ton of resources along with answers to my questions. The nurses are kind and take their time with patients during their appointment. I come here for ob/gyn as well as pre natal care. One of the doctors followed up with me via phone and even text after an appt. Im extremely confident in the staff and honestly believe they look out for our well being and are there to help. Sometimes a particular lady at the front desk can come off as rude, but there are cultural factors, that I understamd, and never take personally. I love the service I receive at this Clinic, and hospital. Im happy to recommend them to anyone looking for quality care.

Always have good service. I have recently been taking my children to the peds department. Although the sign in receptionist, male, is always rude and abrupt when you sign in, everyone elses courtesy and attention makes up for it. I have been to the dental clinic and every visit was great!! Good staff and dentists. As for the ER, what do you expect? Its the Emergency Room. Obviously they will tend to the sicker patients before the people with a cough or labs results. That is why they have their clinics (primary, peds, express care). The coughs, follow ups, lab results visits are not what the Emergency Room is for, but the fact is thats what people use it for... so you may have to wait for someone with more severe conditions to be seen first. Anyway - always fair to good service from staff who are doing the best they can with the limited resources they have. Thank you all!
