My mother was at this facility 9 years ago for 2 1/2 months. At the time we were extremely appalled by what they deemed patient care and rehabilitation. My mother was on a vent but fully cognizant. She could not speak due to the vent. When pushing the call help button most of the time would go unanswered. They expected her to just lay in a bed with absolutely no physical therapy. She lost 15 pounds in one week due to the horrendous excuse for nutritional meals. There were dirty dishes everywhere all the time at every visit. Other patients freely walked in and out of my mothers room and one patient physically assaulted my mom. I was not told of this until my mom could write it down for me. When confronted by it the administration blew me off. The administration acted like my mother was going to be there the rest of her life. It looked and felt like a warehouse not a hospital to get people better. I am writing this now because my mother is in a different LTAC facility and there is a night and day difference. The current facility in Boise is clean, quiet, physical therapy as well as respiratory therapy to get off the vent are a huge part of the care. Meals are full as well as appropriate for her. They have communications devices for my mom so that she can tell them and her family her needs and wants. If you have a family member needing a LTAC facility DO A ON SITE VISIT before you are stuck there. South Davis could have changed for the better in the last 9 years but they would have to tear the building down and rebuild before I would put another family member there again.

South Davis Community Hospital is not only a great facility for their patients, but they most definitely honor and take care of their own. We have recently lost a beloved family member of the Staff, Captain Andy Walkingshaw who worked part time with SDCH but full time with Murray City Fire Department while celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii with his beautiful wife. South Davis Community Hospital stepped up and "In honor of Andys dedicated service, SDCH has covered the cost to bring Andy home." They also made it possible for the employees to make a contribution in honor of Andy via payroll deduction that will go directly to his widow and children. Additionally, they made sure everyone knew of a local credit union that was doing the same. This is a Class Act from the CEO down to the front line. - Thank you SDCH from his EMS Family

I was at this hospital for four months. The staff on the LTAC unit were on top of things and very attentive. When I was moved to the SNF on the first floor, it was like a ghost town. Being confined to bed, I would see an aid towards the beginning of shift change and maybe later. The nurses rarely made an appearance. The occupational staff were very helpful and made sure I arrived for therapy. The food overall was edible but far from great. My main area of concern was my wound that was delayed in healing due to nursing oversight. Overall I would rate this hospital as fair and could use a good deal of improvement. I was never asked for my feedback.

First off, the aides and nurses ( of course not all) are very unsanitary, careless of the residents needs. The aides and nurses are neglectful, and would rather chat about there lives. Nurses are extremely over paid and aides underpaid. They drive the best aides out, and call them back when they are short, then drive them out again. The RTs roll there eyes every time the have to get off the chair. If people had the guts to speak up, they would have sexual harassment charges due to a "higher up"

From working there 2 years at orchard cove and then moving down to the hospital I can officially say. Do not send your loved ones here. All the aides are underpaid and the management is attrocious. Its grimy and dirty and when I walked through the halls it smelled of death on every floor. Youre not going to find good food as they are trying to cut back on the cost of it and the aids are so understaffed that your loved one will not get the attention they need.

Extremely dirty hospital, not a place Id recommend working or keeping a family member. A lot of the CNAs who work here are teenagers and act like such. Theyll be talking in the hallways before answering a call light for a patient. The LTAC unit however is absolutely amazing which is why I give it 2 stars Instead of one, the staff are attentive and on top of everything.
