Warning: sad story. I will forever have a special place in my heart for Dr. Popescu, and her staff. My skiddish kitty was putty in their gentle hands even though she had been terrified the whole drive over and not feeling well. They took their time with her, and painstakingly explained everything, giving us the truth when other vets might have put us through painful, expensive, hopeless treatments to get as much money as possible. I thought my 15 year old kitty had a tooth abscess, instead it was that aggressive facial cancer that rarely responds to treatment even in young kitties. My friends kitty had the same thing and her vet (local) kept telling her it was an abscess, only treating with repeat visits, pills, and shots until the poor little thing expired in a lingering and painful way and broke my friends heart. The fact that he never mentioned draining the abscess as it got worse suggests that he knew it was not an abscess, and my friend didnt know how abscesses were typically treated. My kitties cancer turned out to be extensive and growing down her throat, making it difficult for her to eat and breathe properly. I was not rushed to make a decision, but gently, compassionately supported in doing what I knew was right for her. I know Dr. Popescu would have let me have her another day if it would have made things easier for me, but I chose to let her go without any more suffering. They gave her Prozac and let me have time alone with her. When the time came, Dr. Popescue knelt on the floor so I could snuggle my baby in her final moments while she slowly administered the shot into her little catheter (slowly so it did not give her pain in her vein). I was given the exam room for as long as I needed until I was ready to hand my sleeping baby over to the doctor. Dr. Popescu spoke softly and kindly and treated us with empathy and made a very difficult time the least traumatic as humanly possible. The last memories I have of my little kitty friend are peaceful, comforting and that she was not afraid or in pain thanks to Dr. Popescu and her staff. That memory will stay with me forever. My friend now only takes her precious babies to Dr. Popescu as well.

The staff of Nordhoff Vet Hospital are the best! When 2 of my semi-feral indoor cats got stuck in my attic for several days during a heatwave, practice manager Max volunteered to come rescue them. After hours, and without charge, he came out several times, went into the attic, checked on their well being, and, using Havahart traps, retrieved both terrified cats. For many years, Dr. Popescu, Dr. Hartwick (now retired), and the staff have provided loving care to my many cats (from saving my various injured and sick feral kittens as well to treating the ailments of the geriatric cats). Cindi and everyone on the staff have provided wonderful support, advice, and comfort to me through all of cats’ illnesses, injuries, and life stages.

When I called they told me Dr. Popescu was booked for a while so I told them I would try someplace else which I really didnt want to. They called back and said they moved things around and was able to get in the next day. I have to tell you they have the best staff and Dr. Popescu is a real gem. The best Vet I have ever had. I have had a lot of dogs and cats in my life and Dr. Popescu is the best,most caring and personable Vet I have ever had. Have been going there for years. You can always tell a good Vet by the great staff.

What a wonderful experience! My dog needed her annual exam, blood work and a dental cleaning. Dr. Popescu is such a compassionate, thorough and professional doctor. These qualities cascade all the way down to the technicians and the front office staff. Their state of the art equipment gives peace of mind. All results were explained to me patiently. Nordhoff Veterinary Hospital is the best! We have had five dogs (currently two) over a number of years that we have brought to be treated by the doctors and staff at NVH. They are caring professionals who keep up-to-date on the latest veterinary treatments, and they have our pets best interests in focus. We would give them more "stars" if they were offered.
