As a practise , I would say this place is 5 star , Facility wise 3 stars : place is small , older, 4 space parking lot and the location is not so nice ,next to animal shelter but this place has been there for a very long time hence one reason why their prices are very reasonable. Dr Sanghera took over his fathers practise , he is at times very straightforward honest. I take my dogs to this vet when they have serious problems. My doggies dont have insurance becuase they have preexisting condition. This place is reasonable. In 2014, I took my 14.5 year dog to this vet and was diagnosed correctly with a liver disease, they did the labs , ultrasound ,x-ray and got the medication and special food from them. The vet was very compassionate and he did what he can honestly not to take advantage of me. I did my part to save my dog life by hydrating him giving his meds and feeding him , giving him some other supplement, His health turned around after a few days. He survived the ordeal. He lived till 18 years of age. 2015 I had my youngest have his knee cap repaired so that it wont dislocate. Another orthopedic specialist came to the clinic and performed the surgery . Overall expense was very affordable .Months down he recovered and is running with it and but still lift it when he runs fast. He calls him "Mr Socks" , I like it. 2016 They did some renovation but it made the waiting area even smaller, so on a busy day,it can get really tight. So I advice newbie to this place to plan your visit well , go in the morning, early. There were 2 others vets that would take over Dr Sanghera when he is not around , I try to reschedule when its not urgent ,he knows my dogs. I do take some of my dogs to another vet in Lawndale for their shots since this one is further. It gets confusing when you go to 2 vets lol. And I dont mind Garfield. He is the receptionist ,the official greeter. He needs an official ID though for the newbies.

California Vetinary Hospital is the only honest and affordable vet Ive found. The office visit is half of what other vets charge without compromising the quality of care. The doctors treat the problem without requiring unnecessary tests or medications. There is no up-selling or manipulating the pet-parent when he/she is vulnerable. The hospital offers great discounts on vaccinations and teeth cleaning. The staff is kind, helpful, and bilingual (Spanish), and they give follow-up calls to check on my dogs well-being. The lobby was recently remodeled and is quite welcoming. AND, the hospital has a wonderful pet chiropractor, who comes once a week. The downsides are similar to other vetinary hospitals in that parking is limited, but street parking is available (note: its on a very busy street, so be careful when getting your dog out of the car), and there is a bit of a wait, even with an appointment. However, the positives highly outweigh the negatives. If you want a great vet with affordable care, then California Vetinary Hospital is definitely the best option for your pet and for your wallet.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE! I brought my pet in for a routine vaccination. After a urinalysis it was discovered that my dog was experiencing issues with her kidney. My dog is pretty old; however, she was walking, running, eating, drinking and responding as a normal dog when I brought her back for a recommended 3 day treatment for her condition. After the first day I was told she was doing great and would probably be able to come home early. After the second day, I was informed that she had taken a turn for the worse and her prognosis was poor. All of a sudden the recommendation for my animal is euthanasia. I was in disbelief when I went to pick her up. She couldnt walk anymore and every time she tried she would fall down. She wouldnt eat or drink anything. After paying the remaining balance on my $540 bill, I picked up my precious dog and took her home where she died that evening. Now I am furious and this is the only place I can vent my frustration. I wish I had never taken my dog there in the first place. If I hadnt she would still be alive today.

When my dog got sick I took her in and was told but there was nothing they could do to save her. They suggested but I put her down even though she didnt have much longer. I took her home instead so she could I surrounded by the ones who love her. Not long after that animal control showed up because CVH told themthat I was abusing my dog by taking her home to die. I had asked the dr. If she was in any pain before I took her home. I feel that it was because I didnt want to pay $200 for her to kill my dog they sent an animal control officer to my home where my family myself and my pets were grieving and comforting my dying dog to threaten me with Vines or arrest if I refuse to bring her back. He made it seem like he was going to come into my house and take my dog regardless of how my family and I wanted to proceed in this situation. I will never take any of my pets back to this veterinary office. I think theyre awful people who vindictively intruded on my my greeting. And last moments with my dog

I love this practice. The only reason I gave it four stars is that I dont think any medical practice, human or pet, is perfect. But well worth the extra drive from wherever you are. Its more affordable for the same standard of care. In addition, Dr. Sanghera is so calm and reassuring. He does not go crazy on tests and always takes a conservative approach before escalating. He always calls personally to check on your pet, and actually provided his e-mail while on vacation out of the country during a particularly tough time with one of my dogs. Another example, my friends vet wanted to run $400 for tests (for bloody diahera). My friend ran down to CA Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Sanghera gave her probiotics and told her to wait a day or two. It cleared right up for the cost of an office visit and a follow up stool test. Theres other examples, but this provides the general picture.

I took my dog in because he had fleas and somehow walked out having paid $275 for various things I was told my dog needs right NOW. Thats fine, if he needed it he needed it. He also had a physical exam done and was diagnosed as completely healthy besides the fleas. A week and a half later, hes breathing abnormally so I rush him there to see if someone can help. I get there as soon as they opened @ 7:30 AM, and what do I find? Im told that the Dr. is not in til 9 and theres no nurse! My dog stopped breathing while I was there and was told by the evil receptionist that she "was just a receptionist" and the girl who opened "just cleaned up there and they couldnt help me"! She said that neither of them had ANY info that could help me help my dog keep breathing. Strange, considering they work in a VETS OFFICE! My dog died on the way to another vets office. Thanks CVH!
