My 13 yr old dog pasted away peacefully at home but of course I wanted to get her a proper private cremation. Being late at night the only place that was open, Loomis. So I drive 60+ miles roundtrip. I had to pay extra to have her paw print and a nice cremation box for her. Costing me almost 300 dollars. 3 weeks later, I get a call saying shes ready for pickup. So that same day, I drove all the way down there to get handed someone elses animal. Thank god I looked at the name on the box before leaving. I then had to wait for someone again to assist me, oh now they are looking all over the place for my pups ashes. 30 minutes later I finally get my sweet pup back, but wait wheres her paw print? The tech tells me " I recall seeing a tag on her about getting a paw print but not sure what happened, your gonna have to wait til Monday and call .... Shes in charge of this process " Monday comes by I call the lady in charge. I get a "we made a mistake and didnt capture her paw print before sending her off for cremation, instead I can have a " rock" with her name on it made for you." REALLY... A ROCK in place of my PUPS PAW PRINT? More upsetting I get a $10 rock to replace the $45.00 I was charged for the paw print. Shoot at least refund me my money. Not to mention I the standard wooded box instead of the 1 I paid extra money for. I was told I would have to take that up with the cremation company. I called B.S. I didnt pay nor take my pup to the cremation company. I took her yo Loomis and paid Loomis. This would be Loomis Basin reasonablty to resolve. This was the worse experience ever and havent been back for ANYTHING!

I have never been so disappointed by a vet in my life. If this is all you read of my review please take my advice and go to a different veterinary clinic, if you would like an explanation keep reading. I arrived to my appointment 20 minutes early, after waiting almost a full hour my dogs name was finally called 30 minutes past my appointment time. It was a rough start but i had full faith that my dog would be cured ( He was disconnected and very angry). A solid 3 hours later I left paying $300 with a bottle of pain medicine and no explanation or even a guess. Three months later I got a text from my ex that they sent him a bill for an extra 50 some dollars and an interest fee of 60 dollars. Without even a call to say the missed a charge and I owed them even more money for the worst experience of my life they sent me to collections. I went in to take care of the charge and I was greeted with a rude, snubbed nosed girl that basically brought me to the point of this review. In lighter news, I went to Willow Rock Pet Hospital two weeks later because the pain medication did nothing to help my dog. Willow Rock was clean, friendly and most importantly HELPFUL. The vet quickly diagnosed my dog with joint issues and suggested I start him on a regiment of glucosamine. Three months later my dog is doing very well and hes back to his happy go lucky self and I didnt even pay a third of the price. If you are in need of a vet, do not go to VCA. Try any other vet but Willow Rock would be my recommendation. Thank for reading my story and I hope it made your decision very clear.

Although we live about an hour and a half from Loomis Basin Vet, its the closest emergency care facility. Several years ago when our large mixed breed Aussie Shep tangled with a mountain lion, Loomis vets stitched back his dangling ear, cleaned his wounds, put in seven drains, and gave him such loving aftercare that he wasnt too interested in coming home after three days. Yesterday when that dawgs successor, a pea-princess Vizla, noshed on some garden crabshell meal and was staggering about unable to hold her eyes open, we raced to Loomis. After a blood panel that assured no present liver damage, the vet carefully went over our options including what she most recommended, which was not the most aggressive nor expensive choice. She roughed out the prices attendant, and we made the choices together. Ive always appreciated the fact that the staff at Loomis does go over the financial end, offering a range of options, difficult as that may be to deal with when your loved being is struggling. Of course they ask for a deposit and a credit card. Why should the vet clinic stand to be stiffed anymore than a human medical center would? My family has had several experiences with Loomis Basin over the years, all top-notch, with compassionate staff, from reception through the docs. Many of us in the foothills are grateful that it is a wonderful clinic and that there is not merely somewhere but a fine place for emergencies. Were I closer, theyd be our regular vets.

Inept veterinarians - DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET IN THEIR HANDS! We took our dog to Loomis Basin and it took them 1 week to determine that our dog had terminal cancer...they charged us over $10,000, but wait - it gets better... When we initially brought our dog in, they ran some initial tests that took over an hour. The ditzy veterinarian finally came out to us and said, "Well good news and bad news - the GOOD news is that he does NOT have cancer, blah, blah, blah.". Since they werent sure what WAS wrong with our dog, we had to leave him for, what ended up being, several days of tests and they sheepishly said, "Uhhh, guess what...your dog has terminal cancer..." Its funny to me that the original airhead we dealt with wasnt the one to apologize for being premature in her "diagnosis" (if you can call it that) and giving us false hope. You dont have to hang around the lobby for long to get the feeling that this place is a fine-oiled, cash-cow machine. They dont give a rats $%^ about your animal, only making their next Ferrari payment. These people are clueless and they take their marching orders from Corporate VCA. There was a time they were well respected, but now theyre corporate so theyre all about how much $$$ they can suck out of you. Dont take your animal here - if youre in the Sacramento area, go to U.C. Davis if you have the luxury of a little time on your side. If you must take your animal here - pray...youre going to need it!

This place is all about pets. They show their love for dogs, cats, rodents, etc. They dont show any love for the human, aka owner. When does it sink into these people that the owner of a pet, IS their customer. I get to choose where my pet goes for care. No customer service on the owners side at this place. If you decide not to order medications from them, youre screwed! Theyre remiss to write a prescription for a 50-75% discount at Walmart, 800-Pet-meds, Foster & Smith, etc. Okay... October 15th, I order heartworm meds online. (They rip you off at Loomis.) My doggie needs them by Nov. 1. The online company faxes Loomis twice, I email twice, I phone their pharmacy twice (they only use a recorder to screen calls. Heaven forbid they answer... too busy filling flea creams in-house). No response from Loomis to anything! I have spent thousands here. Ill take my business elsewhere. Im the customer, not my dog. As a previous reviewer said, "Tons of staff here", Nobody does anything and you pay the their overhead! Google fans say, "They are one of the "Top 10" largest vet hospitals in the country." 4 reviewers. WOW top 10 largest in the U.S! That doesnt mean you should buy a Ford or GM, or shop at Walmart.
