A number of years ago, I was looking to establish a family derm doc in the South Bay area. I paid one visit to Anhalt and swore Id never return! I arrived about 10-15 min before my designated appointment time; the office was crowded. He was running very late - it was over a 30-min wait. I didnt mind that so much, I figured it happened at times and thought it was a sign that he must be a good, in-demand doctor. Unfortunately, when I went in for the exam, he was rude; insulting; humiliating; acting like a spoiled bratty "prince". He accused ME of being late! Its hard for me to believe that I just didnt walk out PRONTO ~ shame on me! I cant vouch accurately for his professional expertise but his manner was disgusting. Its surprising that hes remained in business. Upshot: STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAT AND FIND ANOTHER DERM DOCTOR! Highly recommended: Dr. Bernard Recht. I switched to him shortly thereafter and we were patients of his for many years. One of our family members went to his new clinic last year on a return trip to the Bay Area. Dr. Recht has always been the best -- bedside manner; diagnostician; practitioner; a genuinely decent fellow and a good doctor.

I have seen Todd Anhalt in Los Altos, on and off for probably 25 years. He is brilliant -- board certified in internal medicine before he went into dermatology. Was chief resident at Stanford at one point. Good guy, very funny -- you will leave there with three or four good jokes to retell. The last time I went t see him, he his practice had become "California Skin Institute." Looks like a practice partnership? It looked like they were focused on various expensive skin beauty treatments. I guess thats a thing. But he treated the same as always, once mentioning some laser thing we could do, which I declined, and he treated the issue I came in for. I dont have much taste for all the profiteering in their industry but no question he is a top-grade dermatologist. Allow an extra 15 minutes for travel the first time you go; his office is located in a place that confuses GPS.

DR ANHALT = THIEF He told me my 3-minute visit was covered by my insurance. A month later I get a $200 bill. I call his office to dispute it. They say they dont care and I should contact my insurance. Two months later, I get a $75 bill for a no-show. What is that? I dont know since my visit was a one off and I certainly did not make another appointment. I call his office again to ask what this is and they dont pick up. I call again, and still nothing. Next thing I know, I get a letter from a collection agency for $200 + $75 + interest. ANHALT IS A BUSINESS MAN, NOT A DOCTOR. DO NOT GO TO SEE HIM (UNLESS YOU LIKE DOCTORS STEALING YOUR MONEY OF COURSE)

Have seen Dr. Anhalt twice and am making a third appointment tomorrow. Very knowledgeable and thorough physician with a great sense of humor. Made it very easy for me and Im not a big MD fan as a rule. He quickly assessed my concerns and categorized them in a way that was relieving. He treated a couple of the more serious issues right then. I had a follow up 3 months later where he treated a couple other spots that were lower on the scale. Its been over a year so its time to get the last spot handled...

Awesome Doc. Knowledge, friendly and tells jokes. He is honest and never does unnecessary procedures.
