Mather veterans hospital is the worst place to go to for help. My husband broke his upper spine 2 years ago and has been left untreated. Had seven appointments cancelled on him. He also ended up with seizures. He has had zero treatment for both. Every month his doctor is late with his meds or now cut him off stating go to pain management. Pain management made an appointment apparently and sent him another cancelation. He has 3, compound fractures in his upper spine and has had to heal and deal with the pain. He tried to go to vets choice but no authorization. Dont go there if you need help. He went to get help through their system. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Where do we get immediate help? Not waiting for days on end or hear nothing at all. Oh yeah, his doctor hasnt even done a diagnosis yet and is trying to refer him to pain management again. Pain management has requested a diagnosis before they can do a consult. Back to square one. I think we need an attorney before my husband dies. Their advocates havent done anything either. What do I do?

HeadsUp! Im writing this due to what has been discussed with other people who have tried to get involved with the hospital relating to treating people with PTSD. Throughout my life I have lived with an ability that has enabled me to maintain my mental state to a certain degree that allowed me to not need psychological help. Now, I want to share with anybody wanting to change their life. Are you struggling to find your place in life? Are you at a dead end road without options? Do you feel the same after leaving the hospital as when you entered it? Is it so, important to keep military benefits when your future looks dark? Lets find a future that gives you more to look forward in life. Are you up to the challenge? I am! This week I will visit the hospital to find out for myself. You dont need the hospital to find the answers to overcoming your challenges. My review will be through the experience made by other people I have to last week in relation to the doctors treating military people living with PTSD.

I was threatened numerous times while at this VA. These threats included robbery threats, death threats, threats of being physically injured through cuts, shot etc. These people said they were a gang of felons. They included staff and others. According to California State Law doctors, nurses, social workers etc. must not be felons. I was defrauded again of my benefits, because they represented felons for homeless services when they should receive rehibilitory services instead. They refused to assist me etc. I was there twice waiting for hours on two different days. The first time they refused to set up an appointment with me, and the second the apointment was a month and a half afterwards.

I went in for an xray. The technician was pleasant enough. Several images needed to be taken, one needed to be repeated for some reason. I understand that nothing is perfect, but towards the end I heard(I was laying down and the cubicle they have the actual equipment in is beyond view of the room I was in)two more people it seemed come into her area and they were laughing hysterically about something, very loud. The story telling went on, and on for what seemed like a couple of minutes with more loud laughter, etc. like you would hear at a party. It really upset me, especially the fact that they had to retake the image at the end.

As a retired RN with many years of experience, I cant say enough about how well my husband was treated at Mather VA hospital. He was first seen in the ER and than transferred to their ICU with a pulse rate of only 27/min. The very next day he was given a pacemaker and stayed in the ICU for three days. It was a private room , very clean and had all the necessary supplies one would need. Everything is working well and he goes in for periotic checkup to keep the pacemaker in good order. I certainly was well pleased and so was he. His cardiologist is great and so were all the rest of the staff.

I have placed several calls with this VAs "Choice Champions". I still have yet to receive a call back. This position was created to help Veterans Navigate the new Veterans Choice program, which has had some issues since its launch. It makes extremely difficult to get information or help for that matter, when persons just refuse to call you back. Most VAs have treated me with respect and have had an overall good experience, Mather VA does not uphold that same standard. I have reached out to people all over this VA and still have yet to see any level of commitment to helping of Veterans.

I have used this VA Medical Center for only emergency situations while visiting family . Emergencies like losing an insulin bottle and needing to get replaced wile staying on my vacation . Another time a low hanging object in an apartment complex hallway cut my head enough to require an emergency look at and patch up. In both situations Sacramento VA Mather field was fast ,helpful and never a problem in providing care to me . A very good VA in service as that in my humble opinion and short experience with. Thanks ,Larry Leach

Fantastic Surgery by Doctor Ho on my hand. Dr Ho is a very skilled surgeon. My hand is good as new. Everything went great. From the pre op folks to the prep nurses who were hilarious and upbeat. Especially the redhead. Cant remember her name but she treated me like gold. Also the nurse present at surgery and the anesthesiologist were outstanding. I could never be a nurse having to hear it from patients and doctors both. Toughest job there is. Thanks again.

I have a bad case of gout and got to the emergency room at 1:30 am, its now 7:00 am and I still havent been seen by a physician. One other veteran has been waiting since yesterday at 5pm. The leadership at this hospital should be fired, there should never be any excuse at a VA facility for any veteran to have to wait this long for medical treatment. I will be writing my congressman. This hospital is below standard. The worst VA hospital I have ever encountered

Ive been going in for years now been through 3 primary care doctors and not one of them have diagnosed what my problem is and they never follow up on any thing, try to get an appointment back in to see them and if it has not been 6 months since they last saw you too bad you have to wait til the six months are up. Ive about given up trying . Guess when Im dead the autopsy will figure it out since the VA cant cause they could care less.

I have been trapped in VA system, dealing with Mathther for 20 years. It always is like some kind of social gathering for the employees, including the weekly Farmers market clogging up the main hospital entry, forcing patients who cant walk, to go around their circus. This place is geared for the employees, not patient, and certainly not family. The staff is very self centered, rude and ignorant of Veterans in general.
