Linda And Chile The Famous Dog

Yesterday, I brought my 12 year old dog Chile to South County Animal Hospital, for the first time. I called and told the assistant Chiles conditon and I was told the veterinarian would fit Chile in. I called about 8:10, by 8:40 Chile was in an examination room. The veterinarian, walked into the room and put out his hand and introduced himself as Rick, while he examined Chile, he asked me a series of questions. Dr. Rick was very forthright, yet compassionate regarding Chiles conditon. Not only was he very honest about Chiles medical condition, he was up front about how much I could potentially be looking at financially, after a complete examination and xrays. I anxiously waited, after a couple of hours, I was called back. Dr. Rick, updated me on Chiles conditon and told me Chile was resting comfortably. Chile was very old and he had exceed his life span. Dr. Rick patiently and kindly guided me through the process of making, (every pet owners nightmare), the decision to put Chile to sleep. I loved my dog very much, a part of me died yesterday. Chile was 4 weeks old when I got him. At this point, I would like to add I could not have gotten through yesterday without the expertise and support I received from every staff member at South County Animal Hospital. The staff was very kind, efficient, and the examination room was spotless. Dr. Rick was awesome. More than anything, Chile was happy, he was not agitated or aggressive, he was very calm. Chile was put to sleep yesterday,. Someone, went and got Chile and there was a green towel on the floor, Dr. Rick invited me to sit on the floor with him so I did. Chile walked over and put his head on my lap, and Dr.Rick kindly explaind the process to me. We sat and talked about Chile, then, Dr. Rick told me Chiles heart had stopped. I thought it was over however, Dr. Rick continued to talk, he sat with Chile and me for another 15 minutes chatting about Chiles life. Thank you South County Animal Hospital for helping Chile, thank you so much for helping me. Thank-you for allowing my Chile to end his life with such dignity. EVERYONE, was just wonderful and I apologize for calling you fifty times yesterday. Iam 59 years old, and yesterday was one of the most challenging and difficult days of my life. I am so grateful to you all for helping me get through the day. But most of all I thank you for Chile. Linda

We just moved to Morgan Hill less than a year ago, and we took our boxer to South County for a check up. When we got there the reception staff played with and petted him so I could fill out the forms (he loves people). When we got in the exam room, I had to wait only a few mins for Dr. Rick, and when he came in he got down on the floor and let Sammy be Sammy licking, pawing, noise and all, he was so open, and made both of us very comfortable. When we had to bring Sammy back in a few weeks later because of an issue with his jaw, Dr. Rick switched his scheduled apt with the other vet so that he could see Sammy again. Wow, that made me feel really special and important to him. After a day of test and x-rays it still wasnt entirely clear what was wrong, but Dr. Rick again got down on our level, and discussed what he had found, what made sense to him, and what didnt line up. We were able to fill in some gaps with what had been hapening over the last few weeks, and come to a conclusion on what was most likely going on. Weve had good vets, and BAD vets, but Dr. Rick will always be our vet from now on, were so happy we found him and that hes right around the corner from us now :)

My cat had been sick, and when I called our usual vet (ACC on Vineyard), there were NO VETS working that day, and none of the techs bothered to call me back. When I called SCAH, they got my kitty in right away. Turned out she had an obstruction in her belly. Dr. Rick was awesome. He tried to flush my cats system with fluids first, and when that didnt work, he got her in right away for surgery...all within 24 hours of my first call to them! My sweet little kitty is back home, happy and recovering nicely. I highly recommend South County Animal Hospital. The receptionists were so patient with all of my questions, the vet techs were knowledgeable and kind, and Dr. Rick was amazing! While I hope to NOT have to take my cats here too often, I know for sure that they will receive the best care possible when vet visits are needed! Thank you Dr. Rick and South County for taking such good care of my baby!

Normally a good experience, but dont make an appointment past 3pm on a friday. The techs want to get out of there and anything urgent you will get serious attitude. I.e. eyerolls. Had me practically in tears with how blatantly rude it was that I was holding them up even with a scheduled appointment because they were running late (made 5 days earlier). 5 star for the doctors. Zero for the techs. Not the first time or second or third asking myself what was so wrong that they were so nasty. The staff also tried to cancel appointent when they were overbooked claiming the appointment may not be necessary. After having appointed meeting with dr. It absolutely was good we went in. Staff is running the doctors and I dont think they even know.

Very nice and helpful. Called last min to get my sick puppy seen and they were able to squeeze him in along w being very accommodating they give you an estimate on the phone with out asking. Which is very very good and no other vet hospitals do that unless you ask and give you attitude. We walked in and was directly put into a room and seen with in mins. Didnt wait at all. The vet doc was very nice and direct which helped a lot was he gave me options I didnt have to ask for that either nor did anyone push any meds or extra this or that in my face. It was the MOST pleasant vet visit I have been to and Ive had my fair share. They are also reasonably priced with no surprises or extras. I highly recommend!! Great experience

Best veterinarian ever! Dr. Rick has been our vet since 1998, and we wont take our pets anywhere else. His ability to connect with animals and diagnose their problems is amazing to witness. He is wonderful at explaining treatment options to you so you understand your choices and the costs involved. We have taken cats to him, prepared to say our last goodbyes, and Dr. Rick has sent us back home with a treatment plan that gave us more quality time with our beloved pet. He is also nothing less than brilliant in emergency situations and has consistently made us thankful that he is our vet. Our pets are our family, and if you want the best for your family, Dr. Rick is the vet for you!

I love South County Animal Hospital, but more importantly I think my dogs love it, too! Ive been bringing my pets here for over 15 years. The Doctors and staff are amazing and always make me feel like my pet is a number one priority. I have always found them accommodating and understanding when I need help, and they always validate my concerns and treat me with respect. Their medicine is thorough and fairly priced, and they always take time to educate me regarding my pets health. I wish I could get this kind of care and attention at my own doctor!
