SUMMARY: They are super expensive, way overpriced for other places in the area, try to upcharge you for everything and suggest things you dont really need just because you are concerned for your dog. STORY: Our dog had a serious medical emergency (pooping and vomiting blood). We took him here because it was the closest hospital and we werent sure what to do. It was bad and we needed somebody, anybody, right away. Well, they treated him for the day with IV fluids and he did better quickly. Probably just a something he ate that really got to him - the hospital couldnt tell me one way or the other. When they brought the bill we needed to verify before admitting him, it had a TON of stuff we didnt actually need and cost a whole lot. There were things that were legit, like catheters and IV fluid and Xrays and all that, which were ridiculously overpriced. I had to talk to the manager to review and get rid of various costs which she barely admitted to not needing. I didnt have much time to fuss about it, my dog was violently sick and puking blood in the room. We had to overnight our dog at a hospital nearby to be sure he got fluid overnight (this place wasnt overnighting that night). Essentially I talked to the lady at the other hospital about what they would charge for the same procedures, supplies, etc...without indicating what this other place had charged me. They would have done similar procedures for HALF the price as Orange Vet Hospital! This hospital charged me $1795 essentially to give me medication to treat a bad stomach bug, give him some IV fluid and make sure he didnt have a stomach blockage. Maybe they are fine for basic stuff. I dont know. But they completely took advantage of an emergency situation and overcharged me for everything. The next day we went back and they wanted to keep him longer for monitoring and charge for more X-Rays (about another $600). We said NO, gave him his medication, monitored him and he was fine. Dont go here

I took my puppy there because it is where the pet shop recommended and she had already been there. I found it very expensive. Only once did I walk out of there paying under $100. They were concerned on 2 occasions that my dog seemed thin. I told them how much she was eating. They never gave me any ideas or tips to get her to eat more. It was my husband who came up with a different approach and now she is eating great and at a healthy weight. No thanks to them. They were so concerned about her weight that they wanted to do blood work which included checking her thyroid. They called me and said her blood work was fine. Just recently my dog seemed to be having yet another ear infection and I decided this would be a good time to find a new vet. The new vet asked for a copy of her labs. Orange Veterinary Hospital was very nice and e-mailed them to me. As the new vet was reviewing the labs he said that her Thyroid was low and asked if I knew this. I had no idea; they told me everything was fine. I can’t believe that they didn’t follow up on a lad that specifically ordered. I don’t know how they missed it. At least I don’t have to worry any more.

We are very appreciative of the care that we have received at Orange Veterinary Hosptial for all of our animals and especially the treatment for our black lab Max. He had a knee injury and Dr. Horner preformed surgery on it--it was a difficult post surgical recovery for him however Dr. Horner and Dr. Lee were very diligent, caring, and determined to get him back to his pre-injury level of activity. He is 8 years old and he is acting like a puppy again as he is painfree and able to use his leg without limitations. We want to thank Dr. Horner and Dr. Lee from the bottom of our hearts for their persistance in their caring and treatment of Max. We have always experienced a very warm & family atomsphere at the hospital from the personnel in the front reception area through the entire hospital. Compassion and caring attitudes from all the staff towards all our animals is felt at every visit. We always recommend Orange Veterinary Hospital to all of our family and friends.

I have just hung up from trying to reason with the office manager Sara at Orange Vet. Hospital. My 4 legged family and I have been patients there for 20 yrs but over the years the care has declined and the prices have increased. There have been several issues over the last few years and the most recent one occurred this past weekend. for the Thanksgiving holiday my husband and I went out of town and we brought our very energetic and playful healthy 9 month old lab to board at the hospital. While she was there, her ankle was severely injured. The hospital waited to take xrays till we came back and paid the 600.00 for the xrays and medication to tranquilizer her for 2 weeks. She was injured there and the concern was the money. It was wrong!!!I am heartbroken that she was hurt and furious that we were charged such an excessive amount of money. I will be filling a lawsuit! and finding a new vet!!!

We adopted our first cat in June 2007 when OC Vets was in their old location. They took exceptional care of her and when we got our second cat 6 months later she was taken there also. Since both of our cats were house cats and never taken out we did not take them in again. In the meantime, the clinic moved to their current location and when we adopted our new puppy in 2010 we automatically took her there for her care. We have been very pleased with the care and concern they have for "Lil" and they are always glad to see her. In 2012 one of our cats got sick and we took her to OC vets to see what was wrong. They were very caring and when it was determined that she would need to be put to sleep, the vets and staff were as sad as we were. I cant say enough about the staff and doctors. I will pay whatever I need to for the quality care and kindness they display to me and my pets. Thank you!!!

Both my cat & dog were clients for 7 years at Orange Vet. I learned to budget for my animal expenses because other animal places are comparably worse: staff, # of employees, cleaniness, thoroughness, and most of all EXPERIENCED VETS. My son became is a vet last year in in Seattle and told me the differences in animal care. Perhaps I know too much now for my own good but his review said Orange can be trusted for good medical service. I do not recommend Dr Lee because I want her for myself. Not going to write anything about her because others have been positive about her work. Oh yeah, ask for any freebie food, snacks, collar if you can. Theres promotions or a technician that always helps. Professional, well staffed with several vets (not just 1 or 2). Opens everyday I think.
