I am very dissapointed with this hospital, my grandpa was admitted to this hospital the day before thanksgiving and released two days after, the doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia and said that he was good to go home. A couple days later he got really sick again and was admitted back into the hospital, while trying to have him swallow food and after days of him being at the hospital they finally realized that he had a very advanced throat infection that had caused an enourmous hole in his esophagous and that was causing all the food he consumed to go to his lungs instead of his stomach. I was very upset at the fact that it took them that long to even realize he had a throat infection. I mean come on! its a throat infection! Not that hard to miss! I am a nurse, and unfortunately due to job duties I was in a different state and wasnt able to see my grandpa when he first got admitted to the hospital, but I am positive even I would have known he had a throat infection right away, especially if it is that advanced. Anyway, once the doctors were aware of this infection they gave us two options, they could either insert a gastrostomy tube (G-tube) and feed him that way or they could just LET HIM DIE. What? how was that even an option!!!!!???? I was extremely upset and could not even believe that they had suggested that! I mean my grandpa had great chances of surviving and recovering if he just got that G-tube, theres tons of people who have it and live with it, why was it so easy for them to just decide that giving up on him was the best option?! I work in a hospital and nursing homes and death is always our last option, not our second option we do everything possible to try and help the patients recover and live, especially when they have high chances of survival as long as they have a procedure done. Well anyways, obviously we decided to go for the g-tube, and unhappily they went ahead with the procedure, but they waited 3 DAYS to do this (that means for 3 days my grandpa was not fed anything and had no type of nutrients or liquids). Everything went well with the insertion of the g-tube and feeding, however, they kept being very rude towards my family members and kept asking odd questions and suggesting that my grandpa was better off dying because he had signs of dementia. What!!! Again I was in desbelief, almost every single nursing home has dimentia units, and the majority of people in nursing homes have some type of dementia, do we let them die because of that?? NO! We try to better their health. So why was dementia being used as an excuse to let my grandpa die? They offered us hospice services, to which we of course said no to as well. The next after the surgery for the g-tube they said he was going to be released; once again I was shocked! Sure they had fixed one problem, which was to get the nutrients my grandpa needed inside him, but did they forget about his infection and that enourmous hole he had in his esophagus?. Of course, all they said is that they would give him some antibiotics and hoped that if the infection stopped, the hole would heal. Seriously? I am vivid just writing this and very upset at the fact that I wasnt able to be there in person, just spent my time fighting on the phone with them because they didnt care, they didnt care and they didnt wan to help my grandpa. Once my grandpa was release from the hospital they gave him medications for 5 days and basically said "thats it good luck". Doctors are not supposed to do that! They give you a list of medications that you will have to be on, and usually send the prescriptions to a pharmacy so you can continue taking those medications. They dont just say "good luck" you are going to die because we are not giving you the medications you need. I am shaking as I am writing this I am just in disbelief, I can not believe that there could be such careless, selfish doctors and nurses. I am filing a complaint to this hospital because I really hope and want to make sure that no one else will be treated the same way my grandpa was.

Avoid this "hospital" go elsewhere. This hospital" is a joke and nightmare. Read the other reviews from other patients. I have treated my own patients for 20 years and never would I disrespect, hurt or lie to any of my patients and nor would I ever falsify their records. The Drs at the "hospital" failed to diagnose me correctly and I had to suffer for it. Days later my Dr in San Diego found I had broken ribs that "Palm Springs horror hospital" failed to see in the multitude of xrays and MRIs they took. The Dr Bailey Zampella DO is unprofessional and rude and she falsified my medical records. Some of the staff and nurses are no better, rude and unprofessional as well, and they could care less for the safety of a patient. This hospital has refused to answer my questions and have failed to return my phone calls. They assume that this is okay to treat a patient in this manner. This is professional misconduct, the "hospital" horribly fails to even meet standard of care. How can a hospital let their staff continue to mistreat their patients?? As a medical professional in charge of making the entries, you falsified my medical records Dr Zampella DO. This is malpractice and it comes with serious consequences. Once the court of law has proved that as a medical practitioner you have the tendency to falsify your patients’ medical records, the consequences may be loss of license to practice, or loss of hospital privileges. Falsification of medical records is a felony. When you falsify medical records, knowingly and unlawfully for your own purpose, you may be charged in court for felony. The potential penalty for this is usually a maximum of five years in prison, or a $250,000 fine. If you falsify a client’s records, the court will require you to give an explanation for this offense. As a medical practitioner, and a falsifying medical practitioner may raise questions about the quality of care that you render to patients. This may have a serious impact on you, causing the general public to lose trust in your integrity. 471.5. Any person who alters or modifies the medical record of any person, with fraudulent intent, or who, with fraudulent intent, creates any false medical record, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

Worst care I ever had for emergency care. I was visiting from NY. I had a glass shower door implode on me causing a gash on my left wrist that was pulsing blood. I first went to an on-call facility thinking I just needed some stitches. When I explained my symptoms there they sent me to dessert regional stating I needed trauma care. It took 3 hrs to be seen.Triage stated I did a good job stopping the bleeding. The stitches I received looked like a 8 yr old did them. Wound wasnt put back together before being stitched up. I asked the attending if their was nerve damage due to lack of feeling and numbness in my hand and fingers. She said no there wasnt any. I also comment that the stitches looked pretty ugly to which she said stitches arent pretty. The attending also insisted I have the stitches removed before I traveled back to New York. Again I asked about nerve damage when she removed the stitches to which she said I takes time for wound to heal. When I got back home I saw my GP who sent me immediately to a hand surgeon. My GP also said they didnt send her a copy of my x-rays. I told her that they didnt take an x-ray.She seemed surprised by that. I had to have immediate surgery to repair the severed nerve. It had to be stitched back together and had a sleeve placed over the nerve to allow it to grow back together. I had to have 5 months of PT to get my hand and wrist working. The symptoms I presented with at Desert Regional were all the symptoms one has with a severed radial nerve.
