One morning I woke up with a very swollen face, since I dont have allergies and dont take any medication I wondered why that happened. Within 10 minutes it became more swollen and I decided to go to the ER at the Adventist medical Center in Reedley, CA. Im European and I came to CA to work as environmental scientist. I came to the States just two days before I had this nightmare encounter with the Hospital in Reedley and the USA health care system at large. After waiting more than 4 hour I was seen by a doctor who juts looked at my face and told me that there is nothing to do but wait and apply some ice. All I did during the 5 hours spent in the ER was to give my personal information to a nurse and sit on a bed in the hallway waiting for the Dr. to come visit me. The Dr. spent 5 minutes visiting me. A couple of weeks later I received a bill of 250$ for service rendered by the Dr. and 960$ for service rendered by the hospital = allowing me to sit on a bed. I was shocked and paralyzed; I had to pay more than 1000$ for just sitting on a bed. I could not believe it!! When I enquired about the bill I was told that this is what a ER service would cost in the States. Back home we call it robbery! I tried every possible way to dispute the bill and talk with the billing department. I sent them a dispute letter which they have trashed immediately. After spending many hours in phone calls, writing dispute letters and consulting with friend lawyers I was able to reduce the entire bill to 900$!! 900$ for just sitting on a bed and hear that nothing can be done!! In good English this is robbing people. I have learned a good deal about this country and I would like to tell my peer explorers that the health system in the States is that of a developing country and it needs to be avoided like the pest! Dont ever go the ER unless you are a millionaire. And if you just happen to be in the San Joaquin Valley and need health care AVOID THIS HOSPITAL!

come here if youre prepared to die. came twice in one night for post tonsillectomy bleeding. first time i went in was for light bleeding and was sent home 30 minutes later. later that night/morning the bleeding had increased so we payed another visit to the emergency room and was sent home 30 minutes later, AGAIN, because i wasnt hemorrhaging (basically bleeding out) the night time desk clerk was extremely rude as well. DO NOT COME HERE. please consider visting your second nearest hospital.

I came here last with sharp pain in my side when I Breathed in. It felt like somebody sticking a pencil in my side. The ER physician , I cant remember his name but the last name was Greek, treated me like a drug seeker or something. It turns out I had left sided pleurisy and and pneumonia. The physician let me sit there in agony hours and sent me home without doing anything except a chest x-ray. Later on I found out I had valley fever, no thanks to emergency room at Reedley.

Worst experiences I have ever had at an emergency room. Twice now the doctors and nurses we had to deal with are rude, arrogant, do not listen, and wont tell us or show us anything. They answer questions with sarcasm and acted as if they dont want to be there and they dont want to do their jobs.

The staff is rude. All the doctors and nurses care about is when its break or lunch time. Waited 4 hours to hear from my x ray results. Im pretty sure if there a MD they know how to read an x ray. Their was no need for me to stay there that long.

This place is garbage, their idea of Triage is to let you sit in the lobby for a few hours and see if you die. There is no reason it should several hours to see a Triage nurse, it should take 5 minutes.
