If you are going to get sick in Ventura, DO NOT go to this hospital unless you want to contract C Diff. :( I unfortunately got sick with gastroenteritis on Memorial weekend. I am normally a healthy person- but had some sort of weird infection; and by the time I got to the hospital my white cell count was off the charts and it was turning into sepsis. It took hours to get me admitted and I was slumped over in terrible pain. Once I was admitted, They put me into a private room and didnt change my sheets for 3 days! They never got a proper diagnosis, and basically filled me with IV antibiotics and dilaudid for 3 1/2 days. It was horrible. Even in my state of illness I noticed my room was FILTHY. It wasnt cleaned thoroughly for days. Trash was on the floor, and the floors were grimy. I realized why it was so dirty when I saw that the cleaning service was an 80 year old woman who squeaked around the room in the late night and early morning pushing around the dirt with her broom. It was really disgusting. To top it off--I came into the hospital without C diff, and contracted it in the hospital. When speaking with my regular MD, he told me that he has seen many cases of his clients coming down with C diff that they contracted there. He also told me that they have been closed down due to rampant C diff infections. I didnt know about CMHs reputation as a C diff infested facillity. When they saw that I had good insurance they stuck me in a private room and charged me ridiculous prices. At the end my insurance worked with them and cut their overinflated bill down to 1/3 the price, still leaving me with a substantial amount to contend with. I am still recovering from the C diff and when I called to speak to someone from administration about canceling or negotiating the balance due on my bill vs them having to deal with a lawsuit --they sent me to Tami Shields, the head of "Risk Management". Instead of a kind ear from the hospital who was concerned about the fact that I contracted a deadly superbug from their filthy facility--- I had to contend with Tami Shields, a hardass, lying, horrible word twisting person. She contradicted herself multiple times in our conversations and treated me like I was some sort of criminal. It was beyond insulting. As you can see from my reviews, I never write really bad ones--but after conversing with Tami on a few occasions, I had to write this review in the hopes that her boss sees it. This woman is rude and inept. She told me that Flagyl and Diflucan were the same drug. She backpedaled all over the place, and was indignant when I called her on previous things that she mentioned and then reneged on. She basically came up with some sort of bogus review and explained that I didnt get the C diff from her hospital, but somehow it magically showed up after I had a 5 day stay there. Hmm. No C diff before going to the hospital, no C diff in the hospital, and tested positive for C diff a week after being in the hospital. It isnt brain surgery. Our conversations were ridiculous. All she did was try to intimidate me, which was quite insulting. I still am having to see multiple doctors from the aftermath of contracting this hospital superbug, and I am pretty furious that CMHs Tami Shields isnt copping to her hospitals ineptitude in the cleanliness department. Shame on her, and shame on CMH for employing such tactics.

On 4/15/2014, I took my 4-year-old son, who was in severe respiratory distress, to the ER. When I arrived in the ER nobody was at the reception window. I knocked on the glass, as I could see people back there, but nobody came to help. I found a security guard who was able to help direct me to a receptionist. The receptionist took my insurance info and told me to wait in the waiting room for the triage nurse to call us. I reiterated to her the urgency of my sons condition. We waited nearly 30 minutes, with my son struggling to breath, but the triage nurse still hadnt called us. I got up to complain and afterwards just decided wed be better off going to Ventura County Medical Center a few blocks away. When we arrived there, my son was quickly evaluated by the triage nurse, immediately taken back and treated by the doctor, and eventually admitted to the hospital. Community Memorial Hospital jeopardized the health and well-being of my child by failing to provide adequate and timely care. I worked for many years on an ambulance and certainly understand that hospitals can get crowded, but waiting 30+ minutes just to be seen by the triage nurse is not acceptable and jeopardizes lives. They need to get their act together.

I grew up back east and have had top hospitals...I find this hospital needing to upgrade a little. The doctors on staff are not top staff. I do feel Ventura Medical Center next door has better drs on staff. I will let you know I worked for Blue Cross of Ca for 5 yrs in Fraud/Med Dept..and this is a "Private Sector" hospital...so they can get away from Health Dept/State regulations since they are not a county hospital.. Also if somone needs an organ..and its paid top dollar..You figure..??? There is a lot of organ (blackmarket) organ donation going on in Ca...I feel safer and cleaner with Ventura Med Ctr who is regulated by state and COUNTY health codes..they have a list of violations do your own research...I have found the drs are not as trained or professional as the county drs cuz I have had both..Think once or twice before going under the KNIFE here..While have a diagnostic test there I saw a "mouse" run past me...I...well...Health Dept might want to visit this hospital..wonder what they clean their equipment with...Sick..I think its time I make call to my friends at the Inspector Generals office..about the unclean, unsanitary, rude doctors working here.....

On the day of my surgery I started to give CMH Outpatient one star. But then my daughter said, "Did you say anything to anybody?" I hadnt and so I did. Wow! I think they really want Outpatient to work out well. My situation was immediately accommodated and several staff/nurses apologized. And this was a busy day! I truly did not have a negative experience. Everyone was so kind and caring. Oops! Wait! I do have one negative comment. I was not allowed to eat since midnight. Id been at Dr. Karlsberg at 7:15 am for Mohs surgery. I was now transferred to CMH for Dr. Bern to do reconstructive surgery at 1:30 pm. That was part of my irritation. Dr. Karlsbergs & Dr. Berns office had said to report to CMH at 1:30 pm. But someone at CMH incorrectly told me noon. So I got there early & sat and sat! These things happen but the negativity: DO NOT LET PEOPLE EAT ANYTHING IN THE OUTPATIENT WAITING ROOM. Many of us are not allowed to eat and are STARVING!!! I moved around the waiting room THREE TIMES because people had bought popcorn
