We only go to this ER if the emergency is so bad that we cant make it to Kaweah 40 minutes away. I recently had to go to ER. I couldnt talk but was aware of everything. The doctor was RUDE! To say the nurse & phlebotomist were BAD would be a step up. They couldnt get any blood so they stuck me >25 times including feet, neck, back... I had the bruises for 2 weeks to remind me! The urine sample was worse but I wont go into that. There is 1 wonderful nurse that kept checking up on me but I wasnt lucky enough for him to be my nurse. After it was all said & done, they sent my CONFIDENTIAL (HIPA LAW!) records to 2 doctors offices without my consent! A couple years ago my husband was admitted to SVDH for 5 days. They were "waiting for a consult from Stanford" (really? Stanford made you wait 5 days???) and forgot to give him the prescribed medicine after the first day. I begged them to send him to Fresno or Stanford but they refused. Finally they released him at 8 PM on the 5th day. He was back in ER 6 hours later. THANKFULLY that ER doctor recognized the true emergency & personally handled the transfer, by ambulance, to Fresno where he underwent emergency surgery. That neuro-surgeon said my husband should have been dead or a vegetable due to how serious he was. Thank God for miracles & watching over him! I DID have a good expedience in the OB department when I delivered my baby (13 years ago! )The nurses & doctors in the Labor & delivery ward are WONDERFUL. Many are still there 13 years later. Still its not appropriate to give an extra ☆. Id write a separate review and give it ☆☆☆☆ but that wouldnt be a true reflection of the hospital as a whole. SVDH needs CHANGE! Maybe they need to NOT have 4/5 board members be doctors!!

The emergency room is a nightmare. Unless your about to die immediately you are going to wait for hours in a filthy room with loud uncontrolled children running all over the place. Some of the nurses are very uncaring and have even hurt me intentionally or just out of not caring about their job. The emergency room doctor sent me back home while I was throwing up and running a fever of 104 for several months. By the time they figured out I had pancretitis I almost died from it. This hospital did cause the death of my father due to their lack of care. One of the happiest things I can think of is that I moved away from this area and I no longer have to rely on this hospital to treat me. The nurses in the main hospital are good nurses - its too bad they have to work with such a terrible staff of doctors in the emergency room. Some of the nurses in the emergency room are good at their job, you have to hope you get a good one, and just like the previous poster - you will be lucky if you get a room. Most of the time I got stuck on a gurney out in front of everyone. I freaked out when one nurse expected me to undress in the hall and put a gown on - right near the entry door!

This hospital is literally a freaking JOKE! not only did i have to wait in the triage for hours when i was 6 months pregnant. But the Dr. never came in to check me the way he should of. I was bleeding for over a week straight and they kept saying it was normal. HA! I went in and had pains in my stomach was told it was Gas and sent home with a stool softener. The pain didnt go away got worse a few hours later I decided to go to Kaweah Delta best thing i could of ever done. I did not have gas i was actually in labor. Thanks to Sierra View i had my daughter 15 weeks early because the Dr. never came in to check me. I was dilated to a 4 by the time i went to Kaweah. I hope nobody ever has to go threw what i went threw at Sierra View. Im sorry but when your 6 months pregnant BLEEDING is not normal!!!!!!!!

Sorry but my mom always told me Id you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything at all. For this one time in going against my moms suggestion. The emergency room is horrible. My sister in law was in the emergency room for over 7 and half hours waiting to be admitted into the hospital. She actually saw 2 Drs, andthey both had different opinions. I really felt the Drs were very incompetent. Im sorry to have to leave a review like this because this is the hospital in my own town and we have no other options except to drive to Visalia over 30 miles away. All this money theyre putting into this emergency room/Hospital has no made it even a little better.

If there were a way to give it negative stars, I would. If I were in need of dire medical attention and had the choice between being taken here or just left to die, I would choose being left to die. I feel I would have a greater likelihood of survival being left to die than being taken there for treatment. I wouldnt put it past this facility to have someone brought in for a broken leg and they end up removing both kidneys and sending the patient home with no kidneys and an untreated broken leg. This may sound ridiculous and far fetched, but ask yourself, "is it worth the risk to go here or is there anyway I can get to another hospital?"

My personal experience with this hospital has been a "mixed bag"; both good and poor. The main complaint is the ER, which has overall good, caring nurses but DREADFUL doctors! There is a woeful lack of ER beds available, resulting in far too many seriously ill patients having to recline on chairs pushed together, rather than getting a bed...or even a gurney. However, the main hospital is well run and efficient and-unlike the ER-has caring, conscientious doctors. I received overall good quality care each time I was admitted for surgical procedures and overnight-or longer-stays.

There is a reason why this place went from HOSPITAL to MEDICAL CENTER and it cant be for any good reasons right. Well after multiple bad experiences here if we need urgent care we go to Visalia and if it was for the kids we went to the childrens hospital up north. I can go off an multiple near death experience from friends and family members but only know of 1 good experience and that was with me in 2008 and thats the reason for 2 stars and not just 1. Well you are more then welcome to come in for your self and create your own experience if you havent yet. Lol

Close to home but if want better service go else where. ER waiting time horrible unless you have an RN as your friend than you wont have to wait They will manage to get you right in , witness that . Brought my niece for girl is due she had was in very much pain and since svh was closer and of the extreme pain she was having brought her here , after more than 5 hrs waiting in the er waiting room we had to wait almost another 3 hrs for the dr to see my niece ,
