ER visit 12:45 PM-7:50 PM Reason: Eye pain/possible metal or wood fragment in husbands eye. Vision and pain increasing with time. Absolutely HORRIBLE medical care from the physician. Triage did their job. Came in around 12:45 PM,but not given a room until about 5 PM. Were told doctor would be in "in about 10 min" and didnt come until we told the nurse husband could no longer see from that eye. Husband has no insurance and doctor was disdainful and disrespectful from the start. Dismissive of husband. End result? He was unable to diagnose the problem, doped husband up on systemic drugs rather than attending the pain in the eye, and wanted to send husband home, still in pain, eye still swelling and vision deteriorating. When I asked if there were nothing that could be done, Dr. took it personally and became aggressive and belligerent. Spoke loudly and rudely, with body language to intimidate. Walked out on us "offended" that I questioned him, asking for ophthalmologist consult. Later returned, with continued rudeness, asked in manner designed to provoke (yelling), "What do you want from me? What do you want?" When husband told him to back off and stop speaking to me that way and yelling at me, he said my husband threatened him. We walked out and called my optometrist, who kindly came into the office at 8 PM. Diagnosed husbands problem in less than 10 minutes (same test the "Dr" at Los Robles did and FAILED to see the problem!), treated with antibiotic drops and prescribed a course of treatment. Was able to reduce eye pain topically too. Hospital provided terrible service and needs to reign in that doctor. What do I want from him? Start treating people with respect and demonstrate a modicum of humanity. Go work in a lab. You, sir, have no business being around people, especially those in pain, and are incompetent at behaving with compassion or even basic manners. Note: this is not the first or only bad experience with Los Robles ER (and I have ins.!), but this was inexcusably incompetent. Guess those without ins (husband) dont "deserve" respect or medical care in their eyes.

Over 4 years ago I took my husband to the ER for a finger tip problem - he cut it off. The billing department was dreadful - they said my insurance denied my claim, but in fact, my insurance held up their end with evidence they were billed. I waited for a bill from the billing department, and after 6 months got a request for copies of our wages so they could deduct the bill it to medical for indigent people. Once I explained the problem, they gave me the number of their 3rd party (not in-house) billing company. I faxed tons of paperwork to them. No one seemed to resolve it. In the end, someone paid for it - not me - I never got a final bill. Move ahead 3 years. In the past few years I have been to the ER - treatment was fast and reasonable. I have had procedures done in various speciality departments - all was well there, too. Great staff, from doctors to the janitors. Everyone was great. No complaints about treatment, services, whatever. Back to the billing department. Its improved. I was startled to find out they wanted my co-pay up front before the procedures, but if you do it, they give you a 20% discount. Billing appears very straightforward, and any problems I have had have been very cleanly cleared up. Los Robles is now a major trauma center for East Ventura County. They have made improvements in many areas, and are working to continue this improvement. I have no complaints about their services, and now that their billing department is better, I hope all goes well in all areas. I hope I dont suddenly have a disastrous experience with them now I have written a nice review of them!

Today I went to the ER here. Im almost positive that I have a herniated thoracic disc. Im a pre-med student. I went in and described what was going on, they decided to make me pee in a cup to see if it was something kidney related, even though the pain that I described to them was nowhere near my kidneys. The doctor came in for maybe a total of 5 minutes, he did not complete a thorough examination, and left before it was done. He wrote me a script for vicodin and told me that I should start feeling better, and to go for a follow up at a local free clinic in two days if I was still in pain. Pain pills do not fix the problem, and I told him that I did not want them, I wanted an MRI done to find the damage in my back so that the problem can be fixed rather than masked. I was told that the vicodin would make me better and it was just a strained muscle. In addition to being pre-med, I danced over half my life and have had many muscle injuries from twisted to torn. So I know the difference between injuries (Ive had them all). I am aware that yes my muscles are strained, but they are strained and aggravated due to something else. I was not provided the treatment needed for me to heal. Or at least get a real diagnosis, to move forward with. This is the second time this has happened at this hospital. It really bugs me, I just want to be healthy and pain free, they didnt even give me the time of day. I have a feeling it was mainly because I have no medical insurance. Hopefully they give better care to patients who are insured. They really need to step it up even with the patients who have no insurance.

My nurse Anna in the er was by far the best nurse Ive ever had in my life. Her bed side miner, her personality, and the way she actually cared about me as a person was refeeshing. She made sure to check on me. Made sure I was comfortable. When I doubted where an IV was being placed she brought the vein checker in and showed me exactly where she was going. She didnt push the medications in fast. She constantly asked if I was in oain. How I was feeling. If I needed anything. She built a bond with me that made me trust her and she eased my mind. She met my needs of care and exceed any standards ever set. She is truly an asset to your hospital. She is the reason I will always return to your hospital. My pa at triage was amazing as well. She got me right back when I was having issues and was getting worse. Im impressed the way she rushed to aid a man who was bleeding in the lobby though she had been doing something else. Her response to the patients needs are outstanding. The gentleman who handled my registration made it quick but covered everything. Overall your staff is great. Im impressed.

I went to the Er because I had major stomach and migranes. The doctors left me out there to sit in the hallway the whole time when there was rooms available and said they were getting nausea medication for me that somehow took 45 minutes to get. The tricage nurse told me that is for more important people when we have excellent insurance. She then said that insurance didnt matter. Then the doctor came and pressed on my stomach and said nothing was wrong and that I should go home asking history of my issues, but didnt want to run any tests. We asked her if we could get ultra sound, but they didnt tell us you couldnt eat 8 hours prior for your gallbladder. When we wanted to go home after four hours and have them call us for the results they said they were unable to do that. Never heard of such a thing. They rather have us sitting in the hallway next to someone five feet away throwing up. Btw my gurnee had a used bandage on it. They need to drug test their employees. Most of them look drugged up and dont know what theyre doing. Worst experience and it was filthy!
