Will temper some of my comments because its under my name - gee, HIPAA protections not honored by Google? Was brought to SVH for ankle fracture. The ER staff was largely pleasant, helpful, & kind. Bumping from one to two stars to give props to the ER folks. Once admitted and taken to a regular room, started going downhill fast. Had experiences like the night nurse bringing one of my meds at double normal dosage. When I questioned it, she argued with me and said that it was what was ordered. I said that didnt make it right. Was to be 25 MG at night and 25 MG in the morning. I insisted that I wouldnt take 50 MG. She seemed confused & asked if I was refusing medication. No, just the wrong amount. She got the charge nurse in. I explained situation. Charge nurse says to RN to just break it in half. RN tries, but says shes not strong enough, so hands it to charge nurse, and she does break it. Hands it back to RN, who gives it to me. Neither were wearing gloves. I stated that this wasnt sterile. They shrugged their shoulders and walked out of the room. A number of other uncomfortable situations occurred, including not giving an anti-nausea med with narcotics for pain. Thus, my body rejected the drugs and I became nauseous. When reported to the nurses station, was ignored. Two hours later, I experienced what projectile vomiting is like. After that, I took myself off narcotics and only had Tylenol for pain. Didnt fully cut the pain, but was all my system could handle. The last straw was the hospitals unilateral decision to send me to a skilled nursing facility for PT rehabilitation, when I insisted I could go home with proper help. They shipped me off to a very sketchy place in the Valley without my approval. That wasnt strictly their fault - turns out that most skilled nursing facilities in eastern Ventura County only take Medicare / Medical - not private PPO insurance. What?! That was a shocker. Took me two days of proving to the system that I was capable of coming home. Should there be a next time I need a hospital, will go to Los Robles or West Hills.

I went to the ER and here is an itemized list of my experience: 1) The nurse there was fishing for a vein and it felt like she was digging into my muscle. Without even trying the other arm and without asking me, she immediately went for my wrist. I had to tell her that I have a perfectly good arm with veins she can dig around for. Low and behold, she finally got some blood. The ER tech asked if she wanted the 22 gauge (because Im a petite woman) and shes like "nah, give me the 18." My husband was in the room and hes an ER tech and was infuriated she would bother with an 18 on me. She was probably pissed off that I told her how to do her job. She forgot to bandage the first arm and my husband had to come and put one on me! 2) With that said, they sent me off to the bathroom for a urine sample which was dirtier than a 7/11 bathroom. The toilet wasnt flushed and had the last patients grossness in it, someones knee brace was on top of the towel machine, and the floor had noticeable dirt all over it. It was disgusting. Again, husband to the rescue to clean the bathroom so I didnt get an infection while Im bleeding from both arms now, God forbid. 3) They forgot they installed an IV "Y-cord" thingy in my arm and were about to discharge me. Husband had to step in again and pull it out for me and bandage my arm. Next time I am really sick I think Ill just die in the comfort of my home and spare myself the wonderful experience of SVH.

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to.. My girlfriend had 103.2 fever and they dont even have anywhere for her to lay and they act like shes fine when really she is dizzy nauseous has a severe headache and keeps almost passing out.. Another time I came here with my friend who was showing all the symptoms of mumps, she asked the Dr to test for mimosa and he laughed "you dont have the mumps, a muscle in your jaw must have Bowen strained", he prescribed her muscle relaxers.. We went immidiatly to another doctor who confirmed it was the mumps.. Talk about medical malpractice. The list goes on.... Your lucky if you can get a phlebotamist that doesnt dig around an I v for 20 minutes. The only thing these doctors care about is running expensive tests you dont need as fast as they can so they can toss you out of there. After a suicide attempt I injured my leg, while the hospital was trying to discharge me I repeatedly told several doctors and nurses that if they make me leave the hospital I would attempt suicide again. Instead of keeping me there they literally locked me out.. The next morning I took 250 Tylenols in eanother suicide attempt and ended up having to stay In The hospital for a month after almost dying.. They treat patients like garbage and they could care less about anyone.. Avoid this hospital at all costs.. I almost forgot about the surgical sponge that was left inside someone

I was here with a suspected kidney stone attack. I was in crippling pain and I was examined on a small child size exam table that appeared to be from an earlier era. I somehow remained perched on it..even after damaging it somehow..doc didnt get uptight. I had to convince him that my pain was inside me instead of shingles.it seemed like he wanted to diagnose me with shingles but he did ultrasound and he said it looked ok. I was sent home after a pain shot and receiving take home meds. I was reading somewhere just after my visit about this lady I met years ago in the state of montana who had surgery at SVH and they left a sponge in her. after a time of her coming back she was convinced something serious was wrong with her but it took a few surgeries to find then fix their error. she is permanently messed up now and had to sue the place in order to pay all her expense over this and the damage to her they did. I havent spoken to this lady in over 20 years and it really blew me away when I read about her misfortune at these peoples hand. I realize this sort of thing is not uncommon but it still sucks.

This is probably the WORST hospital that I have ever been to for ER care. Extremely run down, VERY cold nurses, doctors, check-in clerks, security, the whole lot of them! I have never had a good experience here. I understand that it can be difficult to manage a busy triage, but please, treat humans with some dignity and respect and dont wheel them out into a crowded waiting room with a bucket to throw up next to other patients or waiting family members. Its not fair to the sick person or the rest of us who are waiting. The drs here are very quick to suggest imaging, even before looking at a wound or discussing the problem, probably to make some money and make the patient feel like theyre doing something more than just sitting in a room waiting. This place needs a major overhaul. Life happens and since there are no 24-hour urgent care centers around here, sometimes the ER is the only option. Unfortunately, Id rather stitch myself up with dental floss than come here.
