If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They almost killed my dog. We went into their shot clinic and had our dog get her vaccines. They gave her 3 shots. We get her into the car and she was looking tired and listless. We get her home and she throws up twice and is acting lethargic. We call back and they tell us to bring her back in. We walk back in; she had started to look a tiny better on the way. The lady goes “She looks fine.” She was incredibly rude, and started acting as if we had made the whole thing up. She specifically looked at our dog’s gums and says “Her gums are fine”, she had an attitude the whole time and then says finally that she will take her back to have the doctor look at her. She brings her out, claims the doctor saw her and says our dog is fine, just to give her Benadryl (fails to tell us that most Benadryl contains Tylenol, which is poisonous to dogs, good thing we didn’t get one with Tylenol.) So we give her that, and a few hours later she throws up again, and starts to shake like she’s having a seizure. It was passed the time Elkhorn-Walerga Animal Hospital closed, so we called the emergency 24-hour vet and they said to bring her in right away. We brought her in and they immediately said she didn’t look good. They checked her gums, and said they were muddy a sure sign that she was having a bad reaction to the vaccines, she was going into anaphylactic shock. They put her on fluids, and gave her some shots of anti-allergy meds. She had to stay the night in the emergency vet hospital. Elkhorn Walerga Animal Hospital treated this as very unimportant to them. They did not want to deal with this, they wanted to continue with their shot clinic, and getting people in and out of there. I later found out that giving animals 3 vaccines at a time increases the chance of them having an allergic reaction by 50%! Animals already have a chance and they increased it by 50%!!! If they had told us this increased her risk of having a reaction, we would have NEVER allowed them to give her 3 shots at once. This is crazy, and unacceptable. If they had helped her when we first came back, it would have saved money and heartache. We will never go back to Elkhorn Walerga Animal Hospital, and we will be telling anyone we come across with pets our story and to not trust this hospital either.

I went to this place after being frustrated with the care of another place on Hillsdale drive. My dog ( A cocker Spaniel) had been having ear infections and they were not being cured. The Doctor at the first place just kept giving him ointment and the infection just stayed. The oinment helped the dog be more comfortable, but was not being cured. So I went to Doctor Amy Parker a week after the fist vet said he was cured and found that it was still present. Dr. Parker confirmed this with a swab from the dogs ears and saw it under a microscope. She quickly developed a treatment plan that included an antibiotic pill, another pill that was for killing fungus and then a steroid pill tht helped with the inflamation. The great thing here is that since I am disabled and on a limited budget they actually called one of the pills in to Walmart Pharmacy to save me over $80! When I went back for a recheck the dog was CURED! No infection and it was the first time in two years that he was OK. I highly recomend this place and Dr. Parker. The staff was friendly and gave me a small discount because I had to wait over an half hour past my appointment time. The only Negative that I find in this place is that they charge for a recheck. I do not think I should have to pay to see if someone did their job right! Now if further service is needed that is one thing, but just checking for two minutes to see if their treatment worked is a little greedy. I came there looking for a second opinion, but I think I am switching to them becasue they get the job done. If you need a good doctor, Dr. Parker is the one, but keep some money in your pocket for that recheck. I hope this helps.

Reasons I wont be returning to this vet: 1) Another foreign-owned business getting rich off of the American $$$. 2) The wait time is unacceptable because they dont have a problem overbooking animals for monetary benefits. 3) My recent appointment was agonizing because I had to listen to more than a few dogs in the back of the office screaming in agonizing pain like they were going through surgery with no meds. 4) This man lures you into his office with his really cheap vaccine prices but thats the end of your savings if you come back for anything else. 5) I have been there twice and have yet to even meet this vet. 6) His vet assistant who helped me with my dog seemed like she was new and guessing what she was doing. I asked what vet school she attended and she said it was in her country (India) but never said where. 7) Had them remove what I guessed was a foxtail in my dogs eye and they charged me almost triple the price than another vet at a different hospital. 8) Another vet who did this same procedure in the past gave my dog 2 eye drop medications and sent her home where she recovered fine. This vet Dr. Singh wanted to charge me for unnecessary shots my dog didnt need and I had to tell his office to take that off my final bill. He also prescribed 3 medications instead of 2 which to me means one wasnt needed. 9) Wont be going back to this vet. His whole set up just seems scandalous. He wont be living the fabulous life off of my money.

Dr. Avtar Singh is one of the very few vets that truly care about animals, I wont take my pets anywhere else unless they needed emergency care because he is gentle, kind and truly loving toward the animals. He seems to try to comfort them while he is examining them. My daughter took in her cat while I was away and couldnt help. She couldnt afford all of the tests that needed to be done on her and Meds so Dr Singh took over half of her bill off, I have never seen that before and I have a lot of animals, been to a lot of vets. That is above and beyond, this is their business, their livelihood, they have rent to pay for employees who need paychecks but he still took money off her bill because he cared about the Cat. I wouldnt want him to do it again for us, that is not fair to him but it told me something about why he is a vet and who he is as a human being.

My Family German Shepard is normally a very active playful indoor/outdoor pet, recently she became very lethargic and acting very ill, we waited a couple of days to see if she would get better, but she stopped eating completely, made an appointment Elkhorn-Walerga animal hospital because they were recommended by my Son, this Vet. saved my Sons animals, They gave Maggie a thorough examination, and quickly tested her for Parvo, she tested positive, and the Vet treated her immediately and set us home with meds to follow- very happy with the professional service, very caring staff and Dr., Mr Singh took every measure to help reduce costs for our sevices and did not sacrafice quality at all. Maggie (our Dog) is doing much better and becoming more active and eating on her own since being treated there, thanks to the entire staff. Maggie says the same Im sure!
