Ive been going to this banfield location for the last 8 months or so now and Ive experienced nothing but trouble from them. My dog was born with a condition that caused the poor thing to get chronic UTIs. The first time I had to take her in for it, I could only afford to pay for all of the tests if I signed up for a wellness plan. Of course the vet only spends about 5 minutes talking to you and the rest of the time the vet technician is telling you what all your gonna pay for. So I had to find out what was the problem with my dog after taking her to an emergency care at midnight one night after having been at banfield earlier that day and them telling me it was nothing, overlooking the second UTI she had had in the month since I had gotten her. So back at banfield I told them what I had been told and asked what my options were to take care of the issue and a specialist has to be brought in because they didnt have anyone qualified to perform the surgery my dog needed. And while I had to wait for the month it took for them to be able to get a specialist in I ended up having to pay for a third set of tests to tell me that my dog had another uti, which I already knew but I couldnt get the medicine without the tests. My real issue with them was what happened to me the last time I took my dog in. She had been having diarrhea and throwing up for 2 days straight. So I took her in, and had to drop her off for tests. I was told theyd call me by 2 that afternoon. I waited till 2 and nothing. I have them the benefit of the doubt and waited till about 2:45 to call them. Dr. Harper wasnt available to tell me what happened and shed get back to me in the next hour. Another hour later and I still hadnt gotten a call so once again I called and again Dr. Harper wasnt available. Finally by 4:30 she called me and told me that they couldnt figure out what was wrong with her but could treat the symptoms. I told her Id be there for my dog in 10 minutes, but never said she could treat my dog, since I wanted to talk to them in person about the treatment. I got there and was told that my dog had already been treated and that I was expected to pay close to $100. I asked to speak to Dr. Harper and when she finally met with me after I waited another 20 minutes, she explained that she was under the impression that I had agreed to treat her. And when explaining everything to me she used the most condescending tone as if she were talking to a 5 year old and not taking me seriously since Im only 21. After a half hour of her treating me like I was a baby I finally got her to tell the front desk that I was only paying for two of the four treatments she gave my dog. So today I had the chance to try and call to cancel my plan. And get this, in order to cancel it, I have to pay close to $500 just to cancel it. Needless to say Im taking advantage of every service offered on my plan by the time I pay it off and I will never be going there again. Greedy and unprofessional is what Ive experienced here.

I have never seen such horrible customer service. My boyfriend and I got a dog from an animal shelter, and at the shelter, we were able to get her completely up to date on all her shots. We were trying to decide if we wanted to get a pet plan, and liked what we saw at Banfield. We received a free checkup coupon and thought it would be a great idea to use and see if we liked the vets there. We scheduled the appointment letting them know we had a coupon for a check up. Once we got there, they werent super friendly like what you find in private vets office, just business like. When it started, we told the vets assistant that we came in for our free check up and were thinking about signing up for a plan. She was quick to speak and said something along the lines of us not being able to use the free checkup with a plan (even though we had yet to get a plan). She completely ignored the fact that I was one of the owners of the dog and only spoke to my boyfriend since his name was the one on all the information. I then warned her our dog had trust issues with new people because she is a rescue and that she may bite at her. The vet assistant didnt listen and tried picking her up incorrectly and my dog was shaking and nipping. Then she started throwing all these shots at us that she said we needed to give our dog. Just list after list. It was overwhelming and we asked if they would be covered if we bought a pet plan. She said yes, except for she would have to charge us for one of them (even though normally it would be covered). Although the plan is only $25 a month, it was going to be almost $50 to start, plus a $32 vaccine, and we could just see the dollars and cents piling up in front of us. Next thing we new she was taking our dog in the back for all of these blood and fecal tests. Keep in mind, we came in for the free check up. No one was listening to us. So we went straight to the front desk to tell them to have the vet assistant stop any of the tests because we were already going to be dishing out $80 for when we were expecting to do a FREE checkup. We eventually saw the vet for our dogs free checkup, and you could tell immediately that the vet was irritated by us. She spent an excruciating amount of time on our dog... three minutes. And the whole three minutes seemed to be a complete waste of her time. We did not feel welcomed there, and were never taken seriously because we are only in our early 20s. But I love my dog, and I am willing to pay more for people who greet me and my dog with excitement when we walk in and make me feel comfortable with my dog in their hands. This is not a vet office, it is business, with poor customer service.

In the past I would never have gone to Banfield, but it was a holiday weekend and my 8 year old Golden Retriever just needed her anal glands expelled and tail, which shed chewed up and even punctured, cleaned and disinfected. A couple days prior, my dog ate my husbands boxers (separation anxiety), pooped part of it out the next day and threw it up moments before I took her to Banfield. Shes eaten things a lot, and even though shes had 2 surgeries to remove other clothing that wouldnt pass, we are now pretty comfortable with what we do to help her pass (or throw up, if the soft object was swallowed moments before). The tech was very thorough in her questioning. I expected the vet to want to do xrays, which she did. Weve always had xrays done, and some MRIs as well, and non of them have ever shown the soft object (towel, underwear) so I had no reason to think a radiograph would be helpful this time. Rather than making me feel like a bad pet owner for refusing the Xray, the vet agreed that the soft object would probably not show up, and that I probably know my dog better. After the vet took care of the tail and saw the extent of the damage, which included a golf-size ball with puncture marks in it, she originally wanted to give my dog, who was already on an antibiotic for Giardia, an injection of a low dose, slow releasing antibiotic for the tail. When she was that I was shocked at the $122 cost, she found another option for another antibiotic that could be fed orally and cost half that amount. The vet listened to me,(and the dog) and my dog was well taken care of and they didnt try to sell me on the care plan or push xrays or other products. I only went to Banfield because my vet was closed, but with the great care my dog got at a reasonable price on a holiday weekend, I will be switching to them for her main vet.
