They are not interested in care, they want your money! Read rest of reviews!! Stay away! Charged close to $300 for 6 puppy shots, charged for an annual exam 2 times in two months. What we thought was a follow-up visit to get the next 3 shots a month later turned out to be another annual exam. ANNUAL exams I though meant ANNUAL exams. The assistant the administered the second set of shots made our puppy bleed and the needle at one point was left hanging out of her leg. She simply did not seem to really know what she was doing. We have had many pets in our 20 years of marriage, seen many vets, and have never seen somebody have so much trouble giving a 12 month old puppy a shot...its a PUG. I called to complain and got an attitude when I questioned their fees. We told them if they would refund the second annual exam charge we would continue to give them a second chance as long as the same lady wasnt ever going to be the one giving the shots..... but they told me to pound sand. We brought the puppy their and if they would have treated us fairly they could have seen the dog for her whole life. If they were interested in the medicine and cared about the dog itself they would have refunded the money for the second annual exam. This is clear evidence that it is all about the money to them...not about the medicine. Other recommendations were just up charges... things just to get extra money from you. In other words, question their recommendations and get second opinions and whatever you do dont send your wife in alone with the dog unless she is prepared also to question their recommendations herself...which they make very uncomfortable. I told them then I would never return if they did not refund the money for the double charge $46 out of $300. ... UPDATE! When they received this review they wrote a nasty letter to me denying they charged for the annual exam 2 times. It is on my receipt as an annual exam...2 times in 2 months. Then they said that they would never see the dog again...? I already told them we would never be back before I wrote this review....but I guess they felt better telling us in the letter that they would not longer see Piper...they fired us! Bottom-line is I called and questioned their unreasonable charges and received an attitude . I asked that only $46 out of close to $300 that we had paid for 6 shots be returned to us and we could forgive.. They rudely told me to pound sand... then when I took this public, instead of the owner, Russel Drabek, calling to apologize, he wrote a letter telling us that even though the receipt read ANNUAL EXAM on each receipt within a two month period, he chose to deny that we were charged twice for an annual exam and asked us not to come back. OVER $46 they chose to never see our pet again and instead of treating her for life...That speaks for itself...it is all about the money. It is unbelievable, I have both receipts, and both say...ANNUAL EXAM!

Our family has been going to Jefferson Animal Clinic since the 1970.s. I remember when Dr.s Russ & Renee took over. One of our first experiences with them was when our little Shih-tzu, Koko was having trouble breathing. She had a blue tongue by the time we got her to the office! They felt we should take her to Wheatridge Animal Hospital. It was about 100 degrees outside and when they didnt feel she was stable enough for us to take her, Dr. Renee drove their truck while Dr. Russ road in the back (in the heat) to keep Koko stable in an incubator. If that wasnt enough, when we arrived at the hospital they didnt leave until the vet there came out and said she was going to be fine! The care has never lowered from that standard and we will never leave Jefferson Animal Clinic! Thank you for caring for our pets as if they were your own!

The care itself was fairly good. Admittedly I dont have much to compare to but the vet seemed to be fairly knowledgeable. Although I am uncomfortable with the fact that my dog was prescribed the same treatment that didnt work last time but for a slightly longer duration. Ill hope that the longer duration does it and edit my review if it does all work out. But the both visits weve had there was an extremely long wait. Im familiar with long waits as I work at a doctors office, but we dont keep our patients waiting past 30 minutes if even that. The first was a little over an hour and the second was about 45 minutes. And then after the vet saw us it still took awhile to get treatment or for the vet assistant to come around. Im not inclined to go back as I cant afford to stay at the vet for 3 hours.

My cat doesnt have a regular Vet (until now) and when he got into a scruffle, Urgent Care told me I needed to see a regular Vet to remove the tubing in his leg. I honestly was hesitant at first because of all the negative reviews on here, but after todays visit that changed my mind. They worked with me to ensure that I had the necessary vaccines that my cat needed. They also worked with me to ensure that I could afford payment for this visit, because an Urgent Care Surgery bill is quite high. The staff is very friendly, from Kelly at the front desk, to all the staff; and they had my cats best interest at heart. Best of all, my cat loved Dr. Vahrenwald and Vet Tech, Dana! ...and my cat is VERY PICKY when it comes to people. ~This is now my cats Vet Clinic!!! :)

Bring both my dogs to them. My first dog was adopted and her rescue took her there so I went to them since they had a history. When I got my second puppy I decided to go back to them because they are friendly and nice and are generally able to work around your schedule for making visits. I love the staff and feel comfortable chating with them about both my dogs and they are able to help me with most situations and if not they have pointed me in a direction that is helpful. Im sure you can find other places that are better in other regards ie cheaper, bigger, what have you but I prefer to have people that know my name and my dogs name when I see them and be treated correctly. I thank them every time I go in and have yet to disappointed with a visit.

Jefferson Animal Clinic is the perfect hospital for my pets! Not only are the staff members extremely knowledgeable, they are also very caring. They treat their patients as if they were their own. While they provide all treatments necessary for their patients, they also take into consideration each clients situation to come up with the best plan that everyone is comfortable with. They are very prompt at returning calls and I have always felt that my pets health is important to them! No matter how far away I move, I will always make the drive to Jefferson for to get the absolute best care for "Riley" and all my future pets!
